It’s Shane Greene again and all I can think of is Aaron Small. Please, let this guy be another Aaron Small.

Let’s Go Yank-ees!
[Drawing of Gaston LaGaffe by Andre Franquin]
I remember his 10-0 season!
He went 21-12 in the AL. Dianagram would like that!
They win the next 2 they are only 3 back at the break. Lose 2 and they are 7 back.
Aie.
clean, quick inning.
2 - nil Orange!
that was...shifty.
i'll take it.
BOO BLUE!!!
lame.
Nifty Shifty!
i love watching jeter get hits.
i don't love watching umps thwart our rallies...
1-0 on the Tex double.
captain thrown out at home...
Aaron Small couldn't break glass. This kid throws hard and may have a baseball future.
heya folks! Way to hold down the thread thelarmis!
disappointing captain.
[12] thanks man! you're gonna have to take over here pretty soon. gotta meet my girls at the park, then i'm having a couple of my students who just graduated over.
should be a fun evening. a yankee win would make it that much better!
[14] very nice evening plans! I have at least an hour or two before biking out to meet the lady and her friends for some beers. I can assist for a bit.
what? I didn't even realize it was a no hitter. nice work greene.
fuck. i may be bad luck.
very nice strikeout.
oh boo. we are sooooo bad.
Ichiro has no homers and 11 rbi's for the season. That means we on this board have as many dingers as him. Congrats Banterers.
still here! change of plans. gonna walk the beltline in a bit instead of meeting at the park...
greene has thrown 4.2 innings of no-hit baseball in both of his starts. it's not you, seamus!
Dammit, KJ.
here's when we lose the game...
So, greene is very effective first couple times through the order basically? Just wondering how he'll do once the league gets to know him. He's got good movement on his pitches.
yes! needed that double play.
nice DP, Brian!
[15] whachya drinkin' tonight? i'll be getting into the Full Sail ESB. it was the official beer of my wedding and i still have plenty left! happy to share it : )
[21] i hope you're right!
So glad we got out of that. We really need some feckin runs though.
[26] nice choice! I wish I could have some. I was at their brewery in Oregon last August. Had a real good time there. I'm not sure what i'll be drinking tonight. I have a couple of great growlers in the fridge but i'm meeting at this bar I don't go to often. And I need to be thrifty so it may be 1 or 2 good beers before going cheap.
nice, kid!
[29] HOLY WOW!!! I would *love* to go out to their brewery. Did you take a tour? How was their food? Buy anything from the gift shop? I have 2 t-shirts, a long sleeve tee, coasters, and a sticker...
That was a damn good catch there.
crap. that was a nice catch...
[31] you definitely need to go...
woah, yay captain!
JETER!!!
i fucking *love* my captain!!!
KJ made up for missing that line drive last inning - nice hit, good baserunning, excellent hustle.
2-0 Pinstripes
[31] We didn't do the tour. We were ambitious enough to hit 3 breweries while we were in that town for just a few hours. There is a second brewery just down the road (as in a two block walk) and a third brewery that is just a 5 minute drive. I had to drink somewhat conservatively since I was driving so stuck to samples. Still, it was fine. Brought back a coozie as I was already broke at that point too. But you do need to go. It's so beautiful there and, well, there are three great breweries so close together! Oh, and after the breweries we drove up to the top of Mount Hood and saw where they filmed the Shining.
[37] sounds awesome. oregon is beautiful country. i played there 3 summers ago, but nowhere near Mt. Hood.
nice ellsbury!
RBJ!!!
[38] I love oregon. It's on the to do list to go back out there with the girlfriend. Btw, the band is going in to record next weekend. At a friend's home studio. I'm super excited!
omg that wasn't even close. fuck. I'm ok with taking that chance to send ellsbury but you would hope the third base coach has a better feel than that.
[41] have a great recording session!
[42] i missed it. i probably won't see much of the last 3rd of the game...
Man, the kid has pitched well. Fun!
wow, he's on fire. go go greene!
I imagine he's done. What a great performance by Greene.
Just tuned in. Looks like the kid pitched a gem.
Whew
Go Greene!
Yeah Jetes!
This is my last batter of the game. Better come home to a win...
ah, alright. he still had another multi-hit game.
Hamma Time!!!
[49] have fun sir.
Wheels!
phew. That was hit hard.
woot! Great job team. wow, that was a breath of fresh air. ok, signing off. have a good night folks.
[26] Am I the only one who thought Full Sail was a college somewhere in Florida?
Shane Green's a better story for than Aaron Small IMHO, because he's a young Yankee rookie brought up through our ranks. Small had already pitched with several MLB teams before the Yankees brought him up.
Speaking of rookie pitchers, I saw a piece on a Japanese sports show analyzing Tanaka's injury. They had some pitching expert, either former pitcher or coach or sports doctor, I didn't get his name. He was demonstrating how much stress the splitter puts on the elbow ligaments.
The pay-off? According to their data, Tanaka threw 513 splitters in his entire season last year. This year, before the all-star break he's already thrown 405
[55] Full Sail IS a music school in the Orlando area. it's also the name of my favorite beer, from Oregon : )
not sure which came first - the beer is from 1987...
[56] thanks for those numbers. i guess the emphasis is on numb...
