Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Just secured tix for Sunday Sept 21 in the hope it will be a Day for no. 2. I thought I'd just set that down and leave it there while the second half we'll experience between now and then is still in the future and retains a mote of hope.
I know Banterite policy is not to lap up the manufactured spectacles, but I have a soft spot for things I'll tell my grandkids I saw. We wouldn't have made fun of Lou Gehrig Day, would we have?
Ready set go.
[1] "We wouldn't have made fun of Lou Gehrig Day, would we have?"
Not by a long shot. Hope you do get to see a Jeter Day!
In the meantime, CC is out for the rest of the year, no real surprise but . . . sheesh. It's kind of incredible that the Yanks are not worse off, record-wise.
Cash says he will not promote Refsnyder this year because he doesn't want to have to put him on the roster in the off season. Fair enough, but I will have to adjust my interest accordingly. He thinks the Jeter farewell can carry the day. For younger fans I'm sure it can. For us old timers Jeter, while terrific, is no Mickey Mantle.
Man, Derek looks ten years older in that suit.
Stop bunting in the first inning, Derek!
Odd, when the Yankees play the Tigers, I get the Yankees feed. Not so with them playing the Reds. Dunno about the Indians.
McCann could!
Wow, a first inning run, a Phelps lead.
Brian to Brian!
Roberts played that beautifully.
Awe jeez.
I LOVE turning into the radio broacast and the VERY first play is hearing Sterling describing how badly Roberts FUCKED that up. OI! Bollocks!
For fuck's sake!
Booooooooooooooooooooooooo!
[1] Me again, yeah, I know, I know, just saw. We'll have fun at the game anyway. Big city, takin' a nap...
Got plane tickets already too.
[1] "We wouldn't have made fun of Lou Gehrig Day, would we have?"
Comparing the circumstances of Lou Gehrig Day to those of a hypothetical Derek Jeter Day is a real stretch.
[2] It's kind of incredible that the Yanks are not worse off, record-wise.
It's basically because of Tanaka plus Betance and Robertson, no? And now Tanaka is gone.
[14] Have no fear - no direct comparison intended. You're talking to someone who always takes locker no. 4 at the gym if it's open. :)
[3] For us old timers Jeter, while terrific, is no Mickey Mantle.
True, he's no Mantle (3rd all time career WAR for Yankees), but he's no slouch for the organization (5th all time career WAR for Yankees).
Yay, Jacoby!!
Me!
Well this is good.
Excuse me double for Carlos! Take that, shift.
Nice, David.
Jeez, Phelps has been good this year. Not always, but much better than I ever expected.
Who is that guy?
Gah. Bah. FUCK!
[22] I'm blaming you. Even though it's Phelpsie.
[3] Seriously? That's fucking insulting to anyone who has season tickets. If the team thinks Refsnyder could help this team, he should come up, roster considerations be damned. We're not the fucking Marlins ...
[25] Could be right. I have to admit I kind of don't give a fuck now, so maybe that's bad vibes.
That's a helluva pitch.
I'm double-fisting the game with XM Radio on the stereo and ESPN Gamecast on the PC while I work... surprised to see the satellite radio feed is as much as two batters behind Gamecast (which can't be very instant itself).
Dear Dancin'
Let's be Dealin'
KTHX,
Cult
Well, that wasn't made to order ...
Oy. Looks like the has acquired rusty gloves with the time off.
Cap'n!!!
Dellin, baby!
[29] That's interesting, because broadcast radio (I'm listening to John and Suzyn) is well ahead of Gamecast. Maybe 30 seconds.
Dellin be DEALIN'
Defense. Defense has rust.
Dancin' Betances is the best nickname in a long time as far as I'm conderned! lol... Nasty.
(26) He said that today. I can live with that if he protects his best prospects. But he has other guys at AAA who are better than Johnson, Ichiro and Roberts. They are hard to watch.
[35] Yeah, John and Suzyn for me too.
Weird to hear them in rich stereo instead of tinny AM.
For example: John yelled "Struck [Cozart] out swinging!" the same instant Gamecast gave me strike 1 to Ellsbury.
[38] Thanks. Though I would personally prefer the Alabama Hamm(a/er) from my personal arsenal ...
Reds broadcasters aren't too bad. Not blatant homers.
No chance.
Jesus. High heat, unhittable.
Frazier's impressively ugly, for being a completely "generic white dude".
Woof!
Fastball, DB, FASTBALL.
Or that ... That'll do.
[48] Or, impossible curve for strike three.
C'mon, don't overthrow.
Dancin'
Dealin'
Hamma time.
Do it to it, Dave.
Hammer hurt 'em.
Fuck! Just missed it.
Two gone
Yay!
Good job, Dave.
Nice win. : ) Cheers.
Three gone!
Night all.
Nail, meet Hamma.
NAILED.
