Yeah, Chris Capuano. Perhaps he’s a good dude. I just don’t have a ton of faith in him holding down the Tigers’ offense, do you?
Here’s hoping I’m wrong.
Brett Gardner LF
Derek Jeter SS
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Carlos Beltran DH
Brian McCann C
Chase Headley 3B
Stephen Drew 2B
Martin Prado RF
Never mind those long fly balls:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
Little confidence from where I sit.
At least he kept Miggy in the park.
[2] just barely!
Nine up, nine down for JV.
Me! Breaking up the no-no
I knew I liked Headley.
It's kind of odd.Tigers throw 3 COS at us, we're in every game. Hat's off to Chase!
That's CYs
Dang, missed that. That'll teach me to go refill my drink.
Me again!
[7] I know. And we could barely beat the Red Sox, who are now basically a AAA team.
Can't predict baseball.
Els!
Uh oh.
Phew!
These tight games take a toll. I am envious of my friend who took a trip to see the game tonight. I still haven't been. : ( One of these days....
Capuano pitched a great game. I had to take a call and missed the last out, [14] what was the phew moment?
Sweet! Atta boy, McCann!
McCAN!!!
That's the McCann moments we've been expecting more of. I'm so excited I don't care about grammar
[16] Runner on second, two outs, pulling the starter. Warren got the third out. Yankees have been hanging tough with 3 CY winners.
[20] thanks. I saw the runners get on, just wondering if the third out by Warren was trouble.
Too bad about that Headley was left on second...
[1] My bad. Kudos to Capuano on a splendid performance.
I've been away from Banter, remotely "watching" my 16-yr old grandson's playoff game in Mahopac, with my son the scorekeeper, using Gamechanger app to "see" his game. as I watch the Yanks on TV. It's fascinating to see play-by-play on my iPad, especially since my grandson hit a bases loaded double to clear the bases and put his team up 4-3 (oh, he also struck out twice). Unfortunately his team lost 6-4.
The haunted house corner of Miggy and VMart is bad enough, now add the circus and this game is trouble.
[22] 3 rbis more than makes up for 2 Ks.
Um, not liking this
Double phew!!
That was big! Warren cool as this
Little bit of insurance, please?
Wow. This is a helluva game!
(And BTW, you're missing a helluva game, ump.)
[24] thanks. I'll tell him you said that!
The camera just caught Jetes talking to his bat
Ah. The Tigers also have a Lefty Specialist.
[30] You don't help me here, Jobu? I say, "Fuck you, I do it myself!"
What??? Another bizarre Moderation hangup.
Oh, I know. Okay.
Ah (said I), the Tigers also have a Lefty Speshulist.
WTF? Two batters and not even an attempt to steal.
If they ever make a statue of Gardner, it will be of him leading off first wearing that oven mitten.
[30] Did you see the bat talking back?
Tesh!!!
Insurance by Teix!
Ok, time for another CAN do moment!
[34] I know, if he'd stolen second he could have gone to third on the Ellsbury walk. (Although he would have had to go fast.)
C'mon, maybe not the Score Truck, but how about the Score Van???
Oh no! Oh, yeah! Oh no!
[40] You'll settle for that Score Moped though, right?
[34] Jeter whispered "let's go", the bat stayed the dark silent type.
[39] Score tricycle?
Oh, sorry, my numbers are wrong because of my Moderation faux pas. I mean that 40 to refer to [39].
Jeez, hard to tell.
[41] Nobody admits to riding a moped ...
Yay! Correct call from replay!
Another day off for DRob?
Ah, yes, Cokey!
[38] Well everything would have changed, had he been on second, including the pitch to Ellsbury. It doesn't matter now, but it will matter some day.
Did you see that fierce grimace by Coke as he left the bullpen? Ooooh!
Although, I'd rather the out than an injury ...
Billy Goat Coke
[50] Oh, right. Actually, I think Gardner might have made it back around to first if he'd been on third. (Or anyway, baseball would be more fun if he could do that.) That doesn't matter now because we're going to win anyway, but we can carry over runs to the next game so it might matter next week. (Or anyway, baseball would be more confusing if it worked that way.)
SOME JUMP FROM THE CAP'N!!!
Jeter Jump!
So that makes up for his first inning E6.
I guess half white men can jump!
Alright, boys, two more outs and I can go watch a semi-meaningless quasi-exhibition match!
Mad ups. Must be the shoes.
Great game, fans!
What??? Another moderation mystery.
"Must be the shoes", I said, plus a little more.
Great win. Great.
I hope we keep Headley.
Perfect!
Oh, and: shoes.
Huh. Did you know we're not allowed to say the plural of the things you wear on your feet? Socks, that's fine, but the things you wear over your socks. I got another moderation for that word.
Now, SWEEP THE LEG tomorrow!
Yippie! Five more feet on Headley's drive last night and the Yanks playing for the sweep tomorrow. Not to be greedy, tonight was a big win, with BaltO losing.
Woo-Hoo. Great game. Satisfying win.
Teixeira needs stitches in his pinky. Actually, he already has them. He was spiked. Won't play tomorrow. Getting x-rays, so might be longer.
Not broken, whew. Three stitches.
