Get Your Back Up Off the Wall

Elimination games from here on out in the American League.

I’m rooting for the Orioles to win the series but today I’m pulling for David Price. Would like to see the series go five.

In that spirit I should want the Royals and Angels to go five as well but I think I’m rooting for KC to end it tonight at home.

Happy Sunday.

Let’s GO Base-Ball!

I hope the Tigers go on a three game win streak, but yeah, Royals in three would be nice.

2 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 5, 2014 2:47 pm

Hope they are both good games either way.

14 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:08 pm

Some typhoon action here, school called off. Settling in on the couch for a morning of baseball. Go...Royals?

15 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:19 pm

C'mon J.D.!

16 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:20 pm

And there it is.

22 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:27 pm

Swept.

Damn. I really wish JD's shot went out...

23 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:29 pm

Holaday and Hernan up in those situations. Who and who?? That's no bench to bring to postseason play...

24 Alex Belth   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:36 pm

Wow, congrats to the O's.

25 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:42 pm

Bound to happen. Trout is good at baseball.

I do not like Shields or Pujols.

26 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:46 pm

[18] All 'OK' here! Safe at home, a bit foggy from one extra beer last night but that will pass. Big Fly James got Trout-ed..

27 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:47 pm

Goddamn orioles. Goddamn tigers. Bleh!

28 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:54 pm

Good. Yeah, I'm still hazy from the beer last night, too. Anchor Big Leaf Maple autumn red ale.

Fuck the Oreo's. I very much hope they get swept in the LCS. Really wish they didn't make it that far.

I like Alex Gordon. Bases loaded for the kid...

Go KC!

29 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:58 pm

Hell yeah!!!

Bases clearing triple. Nice, kid.

30 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 5, 2014 6:59 pm

Sweeeeet!

31 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:00 pm

What?!

Doughboy pulling his pitcher in the 1st inning! CJ is pissed. Royales better sweep the leg tonight.

32 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:00 pm

[28] I'm OK with the O's! Fun team.

CJ Wilson..better get some more Head&Shoulders.

33 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:09 pm

That was some effort by Cain, but he was unable to catch it. Nice trap, though.

Wild pitch/passed ball. Ack.

34 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:40 pm

Why is watching Mike Scioscia give the signs so annoying? Can't figure it out but it is..

35 MSM35   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:43 pm

Seems to less facial hair in the AL games. Maybe the influence of the Yanks. Wow!

36 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:45 pm

Hos Homer!

I dig that kid. Plus, he has a good first name : )

37 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:47 pm

Butler with the wheels!

Holy crap!!

38 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:50 pm

Royals spelled backwards is kinda like Slayor. Happy that The Yankee killers Angels are being splayed. Counting chickens, but I have nothing to jinx, a Royals/Orioles ALCS should be a lot of fun.

39 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:53 pm

[36] Almost as good as Big James'!

Orioles vs Royals...I sense a slight manager mismatch in that series..

40 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:53 pm

[35] Joba takes up the slack.

41 Ara Just Fair   ~  Oct 5, 2014 7:57 pm

If scioscia goes bed miserable tonight I'll be happy.

42 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:08 pm

Slayor! I dig that, KB.

KC-Ball Tumor series will be fun...if the Boids get their asses handed to them. Kind of impressive they're doing this without Weiters, Machado, and Crush Davis.

43 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:09 pm

What's happened to Josh Hamilton? What a contract that's turned out to be.

44 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:33 pm

[43] Yup. The Angels were touted to have the best line-up...EVER. I guess it did not turn out as expected. It was fun watching Hamilton at OYS for the home run derby. Something to behold in the flesh. He hasn't been the same hitter since.

45 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:36 pm

I missed the last two KC runs. What happened?

46 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:38 pm

[43] At least the Yankees got a ring out of A-Rod.

47 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:42 pm

Helluva catch by Cain!

48 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:43 pm

And again! Royals smelling a win.

49 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:43 pm

Wow. What a fucking catch by Cain!

And another one!!

Holy crap.

50 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:47 pm

Lorenzo Cain is his name and he drives on the KC train.

51 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:48 pm

[45] mousatkis Hr and a sacrifice that scored ianoki- bad spelling on both names?

52 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:53 pm

[51] Slightly! Moustakas & Aoki :)

53 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:55 pm

[51] thanks, kb!

54 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:56 pm

[52] often times, i spells em likes I hears em.

55 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 8:59 pm

brutal series for hamilton. i dug his homerun derby show and recognize what he's overcome, but i'm not a fan.

56 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:00 pm

[54] Sure, I remember when the Yanks had Doug Menkiewicz, could never get that one.

57 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:01 pm

Brutal series for trout too.

58 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:02 pm

[56] eye chart! scrabble! torre loved that guy.

[57] yeah. but i like him : )

59 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:03 pm

[58] Not as much as he liked Scott Proctor!

60 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:05 pm

siddown, ianetta. can't stand that guy, either! : )

61 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:05 pm

[59] tanyon sturtze!!!

62 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:09 pm

[61] I see your Tanyon Sturtze and raise you a Brian Bruney!

63 edoubletrouble   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:14 pm

Hi Banter! Random question: Has there ever been a three-pitch inning? Just wonderin'. Go baseball!

64 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:16 pm

[62] Paul Quantrill? Ron Vallone?

65 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:17 pm

8-2

hatelos 8th pitcher!

66 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:18 pm

[62] Karim Garcia!

67 Mr OK Jazz Tokyo   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:18 pm

[63] I think many times, baseball reference should have the list. I know Mariano did it at least once.

[64] Ross Ohlendorf?

68 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:18 pm
69 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:20 pm

[67] mariano did it *twice*, including the ALCS!

70 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:21 pm

Shame on the third batter up for not taking a pitch.

71 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:21 pm

and here's the list for 9 pitch, 3 strikeout innings:

http://www.baseball-almanac.com/feats/feats17.shtml

72 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:21 pm

[63] I believe I've seen one or two, because I remember Scooter saying that the kangaroo court would take care of that. After two one pitch outs you take the next pitch, even if it's straight down Broadway with lights flashing.

73 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:23 pm

c'mon, Eric - i want double digits!

74 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:27 pm

speedster up with the bases loaded.

this guy is the reason they booed cano and said really nasty things to his mom in the crowd. still doesn't sit well...

75 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:33 pm

[74] What's the story re Cano? Sad to see him leave, but if some one wants the bucks I'm fine with it. Two boat anchor contracts are enough for the Yankees.

76 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:37 pm

[75] when he was the captain of the all-star game homerun derby the other year, it was played in KC. he didn't choose billy butler as the last player to hit. i believe butler had like 13 homers at the time. the crowd gave him a really really hard time and were dicks to his parents and stuff. bollocks.

they continued to boo robbie something fierce during regular season games, too...

77 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:38 pm

that's some inning for herrera.

i really hope KC kicks the living shit outta the Oreo's.

78 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:47 pm

[76] Thanks. I remember that. Booing is fine, but don't be jack wagons. I had hoped Bloody Kansas was well in the past.

79 rbj   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:52 pm

Well I gotta start a crazy two weeks, night all.

80 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Oct 5, 2014 9:52 pm

[78] wow, an historic reference to pre-civil war slavery acceptance conflict. This is a well read bunch.

81 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 10:15 pm

that's a nice play. one more out!

82 thelarmis   ~  Oct 5, 2014 10:17 pm

royals win.

now beat the O's!

83 edoubletrouble   ~  Oct 5, 2014 10:48 pm

thanks guys - you win!

84 Chyll Will   ~  Oct 6, 2014 5:58 am

[80] I'm very mad that I missed out on the references on this thread. I have an odd fascination with Civil War history; I can't explain in short why it interests me, but perhaps it has something to do with how narrowly it was taught in school in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Ken Burns' documentary really sets a good foundation on the subject. At any rate, enjoy the playoffs, folks!
