[2] I saw that. I've always looked at Hughes as something of a disappointment, obviously. But if we go back to draft day and tell him that one day he'll be making $14M a year in the big leagues, who wouldn't take that? I'm happy for him. I always wanted him to do well, as much for him as for the Yankees. I still have a vivid memory of seeing a box score from one of his first starts back in 2007 -- Hughes six strong innings, Joba two perfect innings with four Ks, and then Mariano. We were on vacation and I checked the boxscore on my phone as we were walking to the pool. It literally stopped me in my tracks as I took a moment to imagine the next decade with those two studs in the rotation. Ah, what might have been...

Another interesting note about that game -- A-Rod hit his 37th homer, on August 10th.

Hughes and IPK aware ML starters, Joba is a serviceable reliever (after getting yanked around), Robertson is getting paid to close in Chicago, we still have Nova and Betances, so who says the Yankee farm system doesn't produce.
