I’m With Stupid

Today’s water cooler chatter is all about the baseball Hall of Fame. The latest inductees will be announced in a few hours and word has it that Pedro, Smoltz, the Big Unit and Craig Biggio will all make it.

Wait, I wonder if today will be "historic". That seems to be a favorite word to drop these days about, well, far as I can tell, anything that happened more than 2 seconds ago.

Feels like Christmas. Can't wait until 2 pm.

2) I wished I shared your sentiment.

As expected, the four guys above reached the Hall.

What! No Pete Rose, Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds?

I agree with I think it was Buster Olney, who I was reading. If their records count, than they should be in the hall.

Seems unfair that some guys we know about, some we have doubts about and some were never found to have used performance enhancers and they might get in.

And it is time for Charlie Hustle to get in. I saw the judge that sentenced him died at age 94. Do you think Rose had something to do with it? It would be a gas if Pete got in. The only question would be whose hat he would wear in. Bally's casino or Golden Nugget?

There! Someone has to bring this up once a year. Now have at it. :)

Seems the right four.

Though I'd also put Clemens & Bonds in.

RAINES!!!

He should've been in years ago...

Smoltz shouldn't be a first ballot HOFer but whatevs...

Moose should go in too!

[2] i still follow it like crazy and get into it too, even though the HOF pisses me off and i always say i'm not gonna care...

I'm not sure why there is such a gap between Smoltz, Schilling and Mussina. They all seem similar and deserving. Raines, too. Piazza and Bagwell, Alan Trammell...

Not a HOF guy so I have no opinion on these former players as long as no sportswriter refers to them as legendary.

[9] I think you're right.
Smoltz had nicer numbers (ERA, FIP), because he pitched in the NL. But Moose and [shiver] Schilling were a little more valuable over their careers than Smoltz.

I'm also wondering whether any writers will confess to leaving Unit and Pedro off their ballots. Pick one:

(a) Blind
(b) Stupid
(c) Trying to prove some arcane point

Moose was also (a little) better than Glavine.

[12] (d) All of the above

The Hall of Frauds. Anyone else want to hear the sound of one hand clapping?

(I posted this yesterday, and it says "awaiting moderation." I guess I have too many exclamation points?)

This was a crowded year. There seems to be more room next year for those who deserve to be in, like Moose and Raines. Too bad for Donny Baseball.
