If this team ends up throwing in the towel early, I couldn't imagine why they would not promote the young guys who were at least hitting well in Spring and start the rebuild process in earnest. The Yanks do not need a maintain-status-quo mentality here. I am willing to believe most Yanks fans will understand the plan and not follow the hothead idiots in the media trying to stir up trouble and then act like they're speaking on our behalf. One thing I think anyone who's a fan of this team should not tolerate is half-assing a plan, which seems like what's been happening the last couple-few years.

[1] Throwing in the towel would be continuing to put out the same old players on offense and expecting a different result. Young players who can hit are available but the payroll dictates who plays on the big club.

[2] Maybe then the Yankee brain trust is cracked. That hasn't worked whether they tried to contend or not. It's not a well-kept secret or anything and it's not breaking news either...
