Kay ranting on YES about going the other way. Evidently the front office wants it and they brought in the new hitting coach (at least in part) to accomplish it.
I didn't realize this was such a big issue in the organization.
Ted Williams was the first to endure the shift. After he retired he said he would go opposite field if he had to do it over again. He berated himself for being so stubborn. He still hit .330.
Listening Tex?
You know, I know we've talked about this before but I just love how Paulie has established himself as a modern day Scooter in the booth. He's so endearingly goofy.
That's the third time in two game a Tiger pitchers has thrown a ball over a Yankees head. And coincidently they've all been the same guy. Not saying it's deliberate, just that I've never seen that before.
Wow, this Tigers radio station is hysterical. Their lead-in music between innings has been Rush, Joe Walsh, Lynyrd Skynrd, and that Life Is A Highway song. Serious white-boy-rock heaven..it's Detroit, can't they get at least one Motown song in there?
[46] Detroit has a high minority percentage of the population. It's not reflected at Tiger games. I've been there. Hockey can get away with that, baseball, not so much. Still, yeah, Motown appeals to all.
Observations:
Drew is making it hard for us to hate him, but I'm not sold yet.
Evaldi is the real deal.
Chris Young should be playing every day. Or, keep getting sick Carlos.
[46] Historically Skynrd has more in common with "black music" than white country. They started out playing primarily in juke joints featuring entirely black audiences. The Stars & Bars was forced on them by MCA marketing people. Hence the irony in the song "Working for the MCA." "Sweet Home Alabama" was also meant to be ironic.
However, that doesn't account for the lack of Motown. ;>)
[62] The Band's drummer, blanking on the name right now, too tired to look it up, called Muddy Waters the king of country music. Memphis was a cross roads. Damn shame that we have to narrowly categorize music and attach baggage.
[63] Cool! [65] Absolutely. I heard a great song by Al Green & Lyle Lovett other day, some compialtion of Soul & Country artists singing together. Was excellent. [68] It's already getting humid..afternoon beer consumption recommended.
[65] Hey, that's good stuff for my marketing class, except I my tastes are probably too old for my students. How about Deborah Harry introduces hip hop to white America?

[2] Thanks for that, it led me to this interesting piece filled with nice little nuggets:
http://joeposnanski.com/the-boudreau-shift/
dinner = my wife's world famous chicken chili! having some now before i head out to work. i'll miss the game tonight...
i thought shane greene wasn't pitching in this series? it was supposed to be "lobstein." hope he lobs a few. maybe even dodo can get some hits...
GO YANKS!
[4] Yum!
Wow!!
What a nice hit by Teix!
That was pretty. And productive.
Mark!
That Petit bobble was an error. Maybe my standards are too high?
[8] Maybe the Yankees now play under Little League World Series rules.
Lobstein? Is Jack Klompus in the bullpen?
[9] come to think of it, Petit is kinda petite...
It is windy here today.
Maybe he eats gobstoppers.
You know, I know we've talked about this before but I just love how Paulie has established himself as a modern day Scooter in the booth. He's so endearingly goofy.
Lobstein is lobbing those balls, 79-80mph.
That is a gorgeous rainbow.
Dropped on purpose
Man, Drew is hitting a buck fifty-eight.
1929 is the answer.
[19] Well done. :)
(14) I'm not sure..still seems Paulie plays the 'dumb jock' routine a bit too much..
Is it just me or could that ball have been caught with a decent route?
[21] Yes, true.
[20] Thanks. And...Yanks were first team to put numbers on uniforms.
I agree with Jazz on O'Neil, he can be a bit too "cornpone," as we used to say. But he's gotten better on his game prep/research.
And now no one can hit "Kyle Lobstein"
Last week was nice.
I swore for years that the Yankees were the worst positioned team in baseball. Was that another sign of that?
(25) As a member of the 'Ridiculous Family Name' club, I can openly mock my fellow member Kyle Lobstein!
Now the Tiggers announcers are using Core Four to describe Miggy and the next three hitters.
Yanks excelling at DPs last 2 nights
Gosh, there are a lot of outs in this lineup.
[29] A-yup.
Sigh.
Tigers radio guys laughing incredulously at how the Yankees org is treating A-Rod regarding the milestone chase..what a laughingstock.
Gone!
Chris Young! Some insurance.
Hard to bench Young with 4 HRs
That was real nice.
And another! Drew!
Psst, hey guys, you might want to hit some with men on base. Just a suggestion.
We'll take what we can get.
Weird. Raining in Detroit but clear skies in Toledo.
Oh, my least favorite game: mix n match.
Hard to bench Drew with 4 HRs.
We like Al Alburqurque
That's the third time in two game a Tiger pitchers has thrown a ball over a Yankees head. And coincidently they've all been the same guy. Not saying it's deliberate, just that I've never seen that before.
[42] Such a cool name.
The bullpen is the Tigers' soft underbelly.
OK, keep it together now.
[45] Weren't they supposed to be good though?
[46] Hahaha!
[46] Detroit has a high minority percentage of the population. It's not reflected at Tiger games. I've been there. Hockey can get away with that, baseball, not so much. Still, yeah, Motown appeals to all.
[48] Starting pitching and offense, adequate defense. Local sports radio laments the BP.
"Steven Drew may be Gregorius' equal defensively. Maybe not as much range, but..."
Dellin looking better.
Now THAT was a breaking ball
Glad we have Betances.
Just woke up. It's good to be the boss.
Observations:
Drew is making it hard for us to hate him, but I'm not sold yet.
Evaldi is the real deal.
Chris Young should be playing every day. Or, keep getting sick Carlos.
[56] Good summary
No Save for you, Mr. Miller!
[56] Slacker..I was doing the 'uchimizu' in front of my house at 6:40 today.
Eovaldi..not sold on hiim yet..hasn't he been in the bigs long enough to not need more 'seasoning'?
Damn, good night for Chris Young.
Drew and Young. Mantle and Maris? I thought Alex ran into one too. I saw Drew giving him pointers.

[46] Paulie was just talking about Smokey Robinson and Motown!
Dang, that was a good pitch.
[62] The Band's drummer, blanking on the name right now, too tired to look it up, called Muddy Waters the king of country music. Memphis was a cross roads. Damn shame that we have to narrowly categorize music and attach baggage.
Okay, so Chris Martin. Huh.
Does this guy have like an unusually long neck? There's something funny looking about him.
[59] You would be vilified in California! Water will be the new oil, my man.
But, I'm not looking forward to suyu and this Tokyo summer. Weeze gonna roast.
[65] Levon Helm?
Levon Helm. How could I forget his name?
Nothing's easy.
That's a fair ball?
[58] Wrong, dummy.
[63] Cool!
[65] Absolutely. I heard a great song by Al Green & Lyle Lovett other day, some compialtion of Soul & Country artists singing together. Was excellent.
[68] It's already getting humid..afternoon beer consumption recommended.
OK, Alex Belth, posts on mixing musical genres. Fight the corporate departmentalism!
Um, this ain't good
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Okay, let's end this sucker now.
[65] Hey, that's good stuff for my marketing class, except I my tastes are probably too old for my students. How about Deborah Harry introduces hip hop to white America?
Oy.
Oh dear...
Uh-oh, I shoulda stayed in bed.
Crap, I left the TV to make cookies and just naturally assumed the game was over.
It's Miller time! We had the tools, we had the talent.
Okay, well, it's a W, it's a S, so, all good.
Whew
Yay!
It's nice to win.
[78] Rapture?
Don't care for hip hop. Rock, R&B, Blues my mainstay.
Yes! Early morning, night all.
[78] That's not all Debbie Harry introduced to a generation of youngsters..
[87] Yes. First song with "mainstream play" every to feature rapping. She was a friend of Fab Five Freddy.
[88] Don't get me started. [Jute Suit Wolf Whistle from Bugs Bunny cartoon}.
