It’s Tanaka time this afternoon as the Yanks look to take the series from the Tigers. Be a downer if they don’t pull it off:
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Brett Gardner LF
Carlos Beltran DH
Brian McCann C
Chase Headley 3B
Chris Young RF
Garrett Jones 1B
Stephen Drew 2B
Didi Gregorius SS
Never mind the cold:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!

33 degrees, wind chill of 26. Listening to the Tigers radio broadcast. at work, so no beer.
I'm here with you, rbj...
FYI, Michael Kay has had trouble sleeping in his hotel room last 2 nights.
Nerts
damn. i thought it was shallow enough to get him...
[1] rbj - it's it's in the mid-60s here, heading to 70 and i'll have beer after work. got you covered! ; )
Why can't outfielders make more accurate throws?
and, in case Just Fair shows up on this thread, once again...
Congrats on the baby boy!!!
[7] i know, right?! it's a main part of their job.
[9] After 20-25 years working on it too. Come on, Brett
i've always liked chris young. glad he's with us and playing well!
Chris Young MVP!
[10] seriously. it's like 1/3rd of their job description: run the route, catch the ball, throw it to a cutoff man or base.
Jones loses a single to the shift.
Will I be glad when Masahiro bobblehead doll Game is over, bad commercial on 32nd viewing.
OMG, Kay now doing tutorial on how baseballs are rubbed up pregame. Who does he think is watching a Yankee game at 2 on a Thursday afternoon?
high strike called on the stolen base by dodo.
back-to-back walks.
how 'bout a double steal?
or, at least, gritner making up for the throwing and tying the game!
beli looks baaaaad. : (
Damn, missed opportunity.
Another brick in the wall for Carlos...
Sounds like the bats are hibernating today.
That Coespedes strikeout was magical!
Is it a big strike zone today?
[23] You betcha
I know Ellsbury got caught stealing 3 of 4 times but 2 of them nailed him on great throws. Glad to see he's back to swiping bases again.
ok, let's tie the game right here!
[23] yeah, esp. the high strike.
Dammit, Carlos!
Even the Tigers announcers are making a big deal of the zone.
AWFUL!!!
beli looks *terrible*
Balk! Ha!
Balk!
FUCK YEAH!!!
You never know when those balks come in handy.
Rule is still stupid.
nice k!
headed to work...
GO YANKS!
[33] agreed.
Headley!
Phew!
Yay! I scored
I'm enjoying this game quite a bit. I notice that Betances is not pitching to the absolute heart of the opposing team's order, which he has seemed to do a lot. I like that. Even though he is not getting saves, he is pitching in awfully important situations. Like the end of the 7th - a guy down in the order, but Giradi needed a strikeout and so went to him. Miller has the saves, but it seems many times he has come in to face hitters down in the order in the 9th. Maybe it is just a coincidence . . . and this is not a complaint about Miller, who is doing a damn fine job IMHO. Just a comment on Girardi's bullpen usage so far.
So, excellent utilization of bullpen resources by Girardi, IMHO. I hope it lasts all season!
Hey, Team, just getting in and what pleasant news. So good about Tanaka.
Gotta hit Joba
That 2nd pitch was yours to hit, Tex
I'm nervous now
One clean inning away from a successful series. One bad inning away from a serious bummer.
[45] I think Legs has got it.
WOW. Striking out Miggy is a nice way to start, eh?
Brilliant! That's one.
One pitch, another out. Sweet. One more pin Rodney.
Defense gets number two!
Nice shutdown inning for Miller! We're up Afro Harvey!
Nice win! So sorry I missed it!
Afro=for
And that's the game! Damn!
Goddamn right THuuuuuu Yannkeees win.
Listened to Miller time on the way home. Sweet.
Got to watch most of the game on MLB feed from Detroit. Other than the homer announcers, nice way to spend a chilly afternoon.
I haven't seen the Mets yet...are they really all that?
[57] They think they're amaaaaaaazin but c'mon..they're still the Mets..
