Chris Young MVP!

13 thelarmis   ~  Apr 23, 2015 12:38 pm

[10] seriously. it's like 1/3rd of their job description: run the route, catch the ball, throw it to a cutoff man or base.

14 coleman42   ~  Apr 23, 2015 12:39 pm

Jones loses a single to the shift.

Will I be glad when Masahiro bobblehead doll Game is over, bad commercial on 32nd viewing.

OMG, Kay now doing tutorial on how baseballs are rubbed up pregame. Who does he think is watching a Yankee game at 2 on a Thursday afternoon?

16 thelarmis   ~  Apr 23, 2015 12:54 pm

17 thelarmis   ~  Apr 23, 2015 12:55 pm

That Coespedes strikeout was magical!

23 rbj   ~  Apr 23, 2015 1:29 pm

Is it a big strike zone today?

24 coleman42   ~  Apr 23, 2015 1:33 pm

[23] You betcha

25 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 23, 2015 1:47 pm

I know Ellsbury got caught stealing 3 of 4 times but 2 of them nailed him on great throws. Glad to see he's back to swiping bases again.

26 thelarmis   ~  Apr 23, 2015 1:48 pm

ok, let's tie the game right here!

[23] yeah, esp. the high strike.

Dammit, Carlos!

28 rbj   ~  Apr 23, 2015 1:50 pm

I'm enjoying this game quite a bit. I notice that Betances is not pitching to the absolute heart of the opposing team's order, which he has seemed to do a lot. I like that. Even though he is not getting saves, he is pitching in awfully important situations. Like the end of the 7th - a guy down in the order, but Giradi needed a strikeout and so went to him. Miller has the saves, but it seems many times he has come in to face hitters down in the order in the 9th. Maybe it is just a coincidence . . . and this is not a complaint about Miller, who is doing a damn fine job IMHO. Just a comment on Girardi's bullpen usage so far.

So, excellent utilization of bullpen resources by Girardi, IMHO. I hope it lasts all season!

43 coleman42   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:05 pm

I'm nervous now

44 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:05 pm

One clean inning away from a successful series. One bad inning away from a serious bummer.

45 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:08 pm

[45] I think Legs has got it.

46 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:09 pm

WOW. Striking out Miggy is a nice way to start, eh?

47 Shaun P.   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:09 pm

Brilliant! That's one.

48 Alex Belth   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:09 pm

56 GaryfromChevyChase   ~  Apr 23, 2015 3:28 pm

Got to watch most of the game on MLB feed from Detroit. Other than the homer announcers, nice way to spend a chilly afternoon.
