Never mind the indoors:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
"Making love and breaking hearts is a game for youth." Hope it's not too late for the Big Guy.
Man, that was some shot.
Yay-Rob!
Always nice to see a Yankee first inning lead.
If we win, our record will be 21-12
I can think of another pretty good record by the same name...
2112 should bring dianagram back!
Weeping - from the earlier thread, were you thinking of Jose Contreras?
Dagnab it, I missed an A-Bomb!
[5] Jesus, duh! Thank you. :)
I'll only be able to catch the last few innings...
Did Alex hit 662?!
It's amazing how things start to blur together.
[8] And how.
Not sure if you guys saw this. It's kind of awesome. I got it from MLB trade rumors last week...
Another long-time big league right-hander, Kyle Farnsworth, has other athletic endeavors in mind. As Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports, the 39-year-old former reliever is now suiting up on the defensive line for the Orlando Phantoms — and is credited with 11 sacks, the second-highest tally in the Florida Football Alliance. (Attentive fans will recall that Farnsworth showed some gridiron promise at times on the diamond.)
Oh, CC.
This is painful.
I love CC and he's a great guy but, man, how long can this go on?.
And he's ALWAYS thisclose to putting it together (supposedly).
Come on big guy, keep it together.
[11] For real?
Uuuuuuugly.
Interesting not swinging strategy by the Rays. I bet Maddon would be proud.
Should have thrown to second.
Oops! Shoulda stuck with the not swinging strategy.
I hate saying this, but is CC just plain done?
God knows I want him to succeed but he just seems to have nothing.
Hm. Sometimes swinging works, too.
Out of challenges now.
Keep that up, CC!
Can't predict baseball.
I would truly love for this team to be good enough to allow CC a long leash - he deserves it. And, if they do, I have a feeling that the Big Fells could be a great late-seldom pitcher.
Season, not seldom. Fuckng autocorrect
Sounds like Tanaka's prognosis is good (knock on wood).
[25] I like your optimistic view!
[27] Kind of a crap shoot though, I always think.
Remember how many people thought Pineda was all done? That kind of labrum surgery you can't really come back from, blah blah blah.
And now, suddenly, you could mention him in the same breath with the most promising pitchers in baseball.
Yes.
Who knows what will be.
Me likey.
I was just reading (boston.com) about "pitcher's counts" and "batters counts". Here's what really surprised me.
When the count is 2-1, batters hit .820 OPS when they put the ball in play. For 1-1 counts, it's very similar. For 1-2 counts, it's about half the OPS: .407.
I knew it mattered, but damn. You really, really want to get ahead of batters.
(The Red Sox staff is even worst in 2-1 counts, is why they published the article. Something like .920 against.)
But Chase likes the 0-0 count!
That's Headley!
I don't know where the rest of you live, but is anyone interested in taking in a random weekday home game either in the bleachers or the grandstand behind the plate?
[4] Dates this week. 5-10-15, 5-11-15, 5-12-15, 5-13-15, 5-14-15, 5-15-15, 5-16-15.
There's life left in the old fatty yet.
Sweeeet! Atta boy, Carlos! Rocket shot!
Beltran is heating up.
I heartily approve of the Yankees hitting homers.
Statues don't move very well.
I badly want to see CC do well, so this is making me happy.
I keep going back to 2007 when the whole world thought Mussina was cooked. It took him a bit to figure out how to get by with his stuff. And then he won 20 games the next year. No way am I giving up on CC any time soon.
Is the next Rays pitcher named Column B?
I missed some extra large taters?
[35] Join you in spirit, if not in presence!
That was odd.
Contrary to Mattpat Law, Just Standing There has a lot to be said for it.
[43] Dammit, you stole my pun
[35] in Toledo, so have to wait for SWB.
[46] Yes. Especially when you run like me.
Yay!
Holy fuck!
Brett with the POWER!
Okay, if Sabathia can't win this game he should give up.
Brett would be my favorite Yankee if he had any personality at all.
[52] Hahaha! So true!
The team is playing so well..I'd like to write a trollarticle on how getting team-player A-Rod back and losing selfish Captain Jete worked wonders for the chemistry... :)
Curtis was the best. He was such a joy to root for.
[54] Hahahah!
Shoot, had to let the Chihuahua out, missed Brett's tater.
CC's back!
Large and in charge!
SPEED ON THE BASES!
Next up, double digits
Good run there, Wheels.
Huh.
Two pitches.
Come on, CC...
Oh for God's sake.
CC looks a little like Deputy Dog, doesn't he?
No, that's not who I'm thinking of, not Deputy Dog. But who...?
Ok.
For the love of God, that's it.
No save situation, please. I'd as soon keep this one a laugher and spare our pen, yes?
[67] I would suggest Magilla Gorilla, but I do not want to go there. Just going by size and period cartoons.
AB, feel free to delete if you think it's inappropriate.
27 Ks in the last two games. More, even.
Still a laugher?
Just not quite as funny as it was fifteen minutes ago.
[69] "More, even": Snagglepuss! Right?
finally home. i love the 9 runs, but CC kinda lost it.
looking forward to catching up on the fireworks!
Don't you just hate it when YES runs that same annoying commercial back-to-back?
Not Droopy Dog, right?
don't do that carp!
I think I'm ready for the Carpenter Epoch to be over.
Oy.
Oh ferfuck's sake!
oopsie!
Oh, whew.
Good hustle, Young Chris.
laughing, all.
I think maybe it's Droopy Dog, yes.
It's a certain jowly, hangdog, droopy eye look that suddenly made me think of a cartoon dog. I think it's Droopy.
(And as to [69], I think it's perfectly appropriate for the context.)
Where does it say that we can never have a laugher?
[55] Grandy? yeah, i've been a fan for ages. he used to write a blog at the 4-letter network. is he getting regular press in NY?
i like chris young. always have...
ooh, that was *really* low. we lucked out on that call...
[83] Wasn't he just the bee's knees?
I haven't noticed any press he's been getting if he has.
pasta diving didi.
crap.
9-1 becoming a save situation?
Grrrrr.
I've grown tired of the David Carpenter experiment
i'm in Atlanta and recently purchased tickets to see the Yanks against the Braves this August. got tix for the first game, Friday night. i plan on going again Sat. night too.
we might be in NY end of June / beg. of July. not sure if the Yanks will be in town. if so, i'll try to make it to the Stadium.
shawn kelley > david carepenter
[89] see [76].
(Little did I know this half inning was going to take an epoch.)
Nice catch, Chris Young.
Chris Young, star of the game.
[81] he has been looking dog-like lately!
Phew!
I nominate Chris Young to pitch the ninth.
[76] more like the Carpenter Error
[90} Ohhhhh, ohhhhh, ohhhh ohhh! Ohhhhh, ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh!
(Name that tune.)
[97] Seconded.
OWW!
Boo!
Wow!
Quite the shot!
Heavens to mergatroyd! Atta boy, Teix!
really?
bollocks!
Ah. So, FUCK YOU, is the correct response to HBP.
Well that's better
SB and now double digits!
of course, my laptop froze and i missed Tex's HR. damn.
payback's a bitch, tampon!
Holy god.
McCann.
Beyond words.
Them lip lovin' fuzzy caterpillars are working their magic.
wait, alex stole? awesome! i was gonna say "now steal," but figured he wouldn't after the triple gave him heavy legs.
thelarmis, Van Halen just came on the radio here at ACME,INC Tokyo offices. You would approve?
[99] tomahawk chop. stolen from the florida state semen holes.
[113] yes, i would. i even approve of the Van Hagar era!
accidentally saw Night Ranger on Saturday! : )
Wow, Didi really has great range.
that was a scorcher. coulda been bad...
[115] Sure..'accidentally'.. :)
I can't believe I'm starting to really like this team..winning is fun!
[112] More like no one was paying attention.
Defensive indifference? That should be a good morning debate.
Three down! Night all.
What a dump.
And THAT was the highlight of the night
Uh.
Didi was just born to play in this place.
He does have amazing range, though.
I'm very pleased that Erasmo Ramirez gets two ER tacked on to his pathetic record. And do you know why?
Because you beaned someone, deliberately, because you're an asshole. That's why. Think about that as you sink back into your quagmire of perfectly deserved obscurity.
i'm gonna have to pull the game up on roku and watch some highlights.
wait, how'd it end? my computer blacked out! argh.
[119] can we reschedule for mid-afternoon?! ; )
ah, i read about the catwalk (and figured it had something to do with that). i'll try to watch later...
[128] Yeah, this year the ball is in play after it hits a catwalk. Didi caught it.
[127] We can chat my afternoon, you'll still be up over there!
