I'm going to say it yet again: you shouldn't be allowed to review the tape and then decide if you're going to challenge. You should issue a challenge based on the naked-eye observation of either the player involved or an observer from the dugout.
To issue a challenge based on what some guy sees on the instant replay is absurd. If they allow that, there's absolutely no point in having umpires in the first place, they might as well decide everything based on observing the tape.
Meaning, there should be real risk involved in a challenge, it should be based on the same information the umpire had in making the call.
[23] It's a situation you ignore, then go to the manager after the game and suggest he have a talk with Bryce. Maybe Bryce gets the next day off. Because it's a long campaign and players need a day off, yadda, yadda, yadda.
[27] Player shouldn't mock the umpire. Look at Bryce's behavior after he questions the call. Ump says get back in the box and he leaps back in. He shouldn't be out of the box to begin with. Harper needs to grow up.
When you send up a .150 hitter to hit for a .255 guy in the ninth it says something. They don't think Young can hit a righty. I hope we don't see him too often in the next few weeks replacing Jacoby. Please put Refsynder or Pirela in the outfield.
Carlos!
Nice to score first.
I know I said this yesterday and not to sound obsessive or anything but I really love these camera angles.
Good hustle, Carlos!
Good job Brian.
Boy, I'll be happy when the Yanks leave this park. The camera angle is disconcertingly high.
Oh, God.
That was a bomb.
Phew, Didi.
Bryce Harper's OBP is .474???
Holy god.
Harper tossed!
No one goes to the game to see you Blue.
I think the Yankees have had some trouble with this particular crew too. Yeah, some of 'em don't really appreciate their own role in the game.
I wanted to see Bryce Baby make out three more times!
Hey!!
That was awesome.
Way to go, Wheels!
Good job bunting Brian.
Yeah, I think I'd start swinging at the close ones, if I were a Nat.
Crap
Nice swing, Mary.
Aggggghhh!
and with two strikes too.
Who can turn the world on with his swing?
[21] :)
Looked at the ejection, seemed bogus..#umpshow likely.
Spidi!

Ugh.
The Replay giveth, and the Replay taketh away.

[25] I agree

Hmm, not good
[29] Seems this ump and Harper have history..still seems a quick trigger. Ejecting star players for small infraction, not helping the game..
Chase!
Hah!
Bunting sucks, it really does. (Although it certainly was a logical situation to try it.)
Oh, for fuck's sake!!
HOW DID THAT BALL FALL???
HE PULLED OFF IT!!!!
Uh oh.
I would have gone to Miller here. I'm afraid Wilson is going to walk in a run.
I know, I know.
Or that.
Of course.
Not having a good feeling about this
It was plainly the most important AB of the game, and it was a tough lefty batter. Miller was the right move.
Could have been much worse
What the hell, Brett? Awful AB
I wonder how many people have made their MLB debut as a pinch stand there.
Did anyone really think the Yanks had a shot tonight? Do we really have to watch Chris Young for the next few weeks? He is finding his level.
[44] I did. I always do.
Nice Esmil
A-Rod pinch-hit tater coming up.
[45] I was hoping for 2 in Tampa, 1 in KC and 1 in DC. Still time for the last.
Drew-Jones-Gregorius is certainly discouraging.
How can Girardi let these guys bat in the 9th inning down by one run? Is he just giving up?
[48]Kay sort touched on it, but the Yankees seem to have survived the real tough part of the schedule.
Follow up with Pirela is not something I want at this stage.
Another big chance for Alex.
Hmm, curve
Sucker pitch
Shorten up, Alex.
Shorten the fuck up.
That was not a fucking strike.
High and inside
Oy!
Night all.
[57] Gsameday has it borderline..very borderline...
Man, this team's performance has been fugly.
Here's hoping we can right the ship in the Bronx.
