So much to do, such a beautiful day here in NY. How can I watch television in the afternoon? But watch we must methinks (wink to RI).

Both the Rays and Yanks have 1 o'clock games. Do we get daydrunk? We're not sitting on some tropical beach so that would be unusual for me.

First place by 4:30 PM? Hope so...

Cool picture. I'm headed to cousin's pool soon. Go Yamkees!

3 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:17 pm

Nice dp on a slow bouncer.

Fug Sports One? No respect for Murdoch and Co.

4 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:18 pm

Pineda, Nova, Tanaka, Eovaldi, The Kid. Beautiful rotation in theory.

5 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:32 pm

Nice pitch. Maddux stylie.

6 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:33 pm

Rainy here so no outside work, but I do have to clean the bathroom

7 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:34 pm

Hold them here

8 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:40 pm

That's how ou beat the shift, Carlos.

9 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:45 pm

[6] rainy where?
Tough choice, scrub a toilet or watch the Yankees?
But I guess there is something admirable of listening to the game while doing house work. Kinda like the Kansas farmer on the tractor listening to the Cards on a transistor in 1960.

10 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:47 pm

Toledo

11 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:49 pm

[10] of course, Mud Hens! Enjoy the game Jacoby!

12 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:53 pm

EO not fooling them at the moment. Longoria did not move at all, his hands were in the strike zone, Or close enough

13 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:54 pm

I'm listening to the Yankee game and removing wallpaper.
So far, it's a close call which is more fun.

14 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:55 pm

Boooooooooooooo! Wtf, Nathan! Throw fucking strikes!

15 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:57 pm

EO not dialed in yet, but he is also getting squeezed by the ump.

16 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:58 pm

Yipe.
Happy to get that K, but jeez, that was close.

17 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:58 pm

Phew. One more, meat.

18 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:59 pm

That does it. The wallpaper stripping is more fun.

19 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:59 pm

Ugh

20 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 5, 2015 12:59 pm

Fucking bollocks.

21 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:15 pm

EO still has head in the game. That was a good cover of first.

22 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:16 pm

Now a run or two to change the mood of the crowd (and us).

23 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:18 pm

Fox Sports and Colin Cowherd deserve each other.

24 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:36 pm

Eovaldi is great when the Yankees score twenty runs. I wonder why he isn't great when they score no runs.

25 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:42 pm

Glorius!

26 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:42 pm

DiDi!
Good thing Murphy's helmet stayed on!

27 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:47 pm

Smooth Drubel

28 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:52 pm

[0] very cool picture.

[1] i'm half hungover, half still drunk.

nearly 100 pitches in 5 innings for The Composer. wish he'd get through 6 frames. the walks and hit batsman did him in. i guess he can still start the next inning...

i'm coming around on Sir Didi! (there, i said it.)

fox sports 1 is annoying.

nice AB for CY. moore is out. he's been bad this year; we shoulda shelled him. let's take the lead now. i'd like an A-Bomb from A-Rod!

29 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:52 pm

I like Moore is gone, he was his old days.

30 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:53 pm

Hey, I come back and the Yankees have scored some

31 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:54 pm

[18] wallpaper stripping. you guys do it funny in rhode island. it's different in atlanta. the stripping, i mean.

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:54 pm

[30] that's 'coz i showed up! ; )

33 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:55 pm

[27] i call him ass dribble.

what a terribly unfortunate name he has...

34 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:57 pm

another good AB.

let's go, Beli!

35 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 1:57 pm

[33] why isn't Pooh Holes an unfortunate name?

36 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:00 pm

Ok, the Yanks are on their way. Even down a run, Joe needs to use the best pitchers today.

37 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:04 pm

i had a feeling something like would happen. glad The Composer came back for another out.

38 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:04 pm

[35] it is.

39 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:08 pm

Oh, really, how do you remove wallpaper in Atlanta, Mr. Smartguy?

40 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:12 pm

[39] you know how they did it 50 years ago.

41 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:14 pm

[39] i was fixating on the word "stripping."

42 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:18 pm

am starting to be really annoyed about the constant crawl on the bottom of the screen.

43 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:19 pm

[42] i'm watching online via mlb.tv

44 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:20 pm

i'd like another run scoring double from didi.

45 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:20 pm

didi didn't do it.

46 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:24 pm

Jaso prolly had so much fun in high school, he still tries to look like it.

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:24 pm

ooh, i really hate when our relievers give up leadoff walks.

48 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:30 pm

another walk. dammit.

49 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:31 pm

Shreve wasn't fooling them either. He expected swing and miss on some of those balls.

50 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:35 pm

The stripping is very slow.

(RIYank hangs a curve...)

51 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:36 pm

looks like the blow jays are gonna win today...

52 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:37 pm

[50] i can think of a drum beat for that!

53 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:39 pm

You've been Warrened!

54 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:39 pm

warrened!

55 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:40 pm

[53] oh, man. really?

you're on the same level as a drummer. think about that...

56 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:42 pm

It's worrisome.

57 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:42 pm

i like this move.

let's go, pirela!

58 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:43 pm

[56] you're tellin' me.

59 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:44 pm

Cedeno just throws junk

60 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:46 pm

I really hate these announcers.

61 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:46 pm

you swung at everything else, why not at strike 3?

62 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:46 pm

tie the game, gritner.

63 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:47 pm

Such a pukey radio voice.

64 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:52 pm

rbj feeling better!

65 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:52 pm

rbj looks like he's still sick! ; )

66 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:56 pm

[65] he looks a little skinny and pale
Rumbledownbelow, really?

67 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:57 pm

whew.

68 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:58 pm

that out was less scary.

69 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 2:59 pm

Yay, Didi!
Big D!

70 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:00 pm

Or not.

71 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:00 pm

wow. that's some play by didi, but it'll probably be reversed.

72 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:01 pm

Great play, but he was safe.

73 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:01 pm

good call, unfortunately.

74 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:03 pm

Just a little high and inside...

75 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:04 pm

Phew

76 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:04 pm

Whew!

77 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:04 pm

wow. that's a great fucking catch by brett!

and another scary foul ball from rumbelow, who probably shouldn't have been pitching in the 8th...

78 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:05 pm

Two big Rumbledownbelow flies get caught. This could be a totally different game if there was a breeze.

79 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:06 pm

damn you, shift.

80 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:07 pm

[78] True. And, it would be a totally different game if gravity were cut in half.

81 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:07 pm

fuck. ripped, right into the mitt.

82 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:10 pm

This would be a totally different game if the players wore mittens instead of baseball gloves.

83 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:11 pm

[80] when does that happen?

84 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:11 pm

that's a nice at-bat and piece of hitting by the headley one.

85 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:12 pm

Now plate Headly

86 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:12 pm

[82] the perfect RI Yank comment.

87 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:13 pm

[82] now you're being silly!

88 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:15 pm

I'll take that.

89 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:16 pm

Bird do!

90 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:16 pm

Hooray for "no doubles" defense!

91 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:16 pm

another nice a-b and piece of hitting.

92 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:16 pm

i will gladly accept a balk and a blast.

93 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:18 pm

[83] It generally happens on Thursdays. That's the main reason they don't play many games on Thursdays.

What if the Yankees were all gorillas and the Rays all chimps? That would be a totally different game!
Who do you think would win?

94 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:18 pm

3-0

unload?

95 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:18 pm

[93] it all depends on who's pitching...

96 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:19 pm

Unintentional IBB

97 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:19 pm

i dig the walk. would've preferred a run-scoring at-bat.

ok, didi. do it!

98 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:20 pm

Okay.
So... can Didi do it??

99 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:20 pm

Up to DiDi, I'll take that chance

100 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:21 pm

I think a chimpanzee would be a better pitcher than a gorilla. Not sure about hitting.

101 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:21 pm

[93] well, it's September so the rosters are expanded. teams can call up orangutans, baboons, monkeys, and mandrills. i think it comes down to which team has a better bench.

102 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:22 pm

He's gonna walk Didi.

103 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:22 pm

Modammit

104 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:23 pm

fucking SHIT!

i actually just slapped the table. another hard hit line drive that's caught. crap.

105 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:23 pm

Oh, man.
Fuck.

Bad luck this inning. Two ripped line drives went right at infielders.

106 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:23 pm

[102] would've been very nice.

107 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:25 pm

By the way, baboons and mandrills can't play in our league. Only great apes. (Duh.)
The orangutans could be useful, especially in the bullpen.

108 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:26 pm

i guess we're gonna have to walkoff...

wait, why is pazos pitching in such an important game?

109 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:26 pm

nice catch, jacoby.

another scary fly ball from a pitcher who should not be in this game.

110 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:27 pm

[107] what about the great grape ape?

111 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:27 pm

Ninth inning, need a zero, would lose anyway if the team doesn't score. Shouldn't Betances pitch? Are they hoping for a tie?

112 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:29 pm

Joe doesn't like to use Betances or Miller when we're losing. I don't know why. I don't think he's ever brought in Betances when we were behind.

113 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:29 pm

[111] i'm with you, kb.

114 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:29 pm

[107] we do play in the Bronx Zoo.

115 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:30 pm

nice pitch!

116 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:31 pm

[112] I know, but things are different now as the season winds down. I guess you play for the tie?

117 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:32 pm

If the bases were 15' square instead of 15" square, the game would be totally different.

Discuss.

118 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:33 pm

just found out my tickets for the stadium are secured! sitting in section 205. really good seats in right field. i imagine this is right above the bleacher creatures.

i'm glad i'm sitting behind beltran. i was just between jacoby and gritner the other week.

very psyched to go back to the Stadium!

119 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:35 pm

[117] would the entire base have to be in fair territory? Would home plate stay the same size?

120 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:35 pm

[117] According to Huey Lewis, it's hip to be square. According to Hank Mobley, there is no room for squares. Either way, baseball is all wrong - man with four balls cannot walk.

121 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:36 pm

jesus. now, bailey.

the september binder is brutal.

122 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:38 pm

[121] I don't get it, but it worked out. There can't be a book on Bailey, he's coming back from major shoulder surgery.

123 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:41 pm

it'd be awesome if stephen ties it here.

124 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:41 pm

The bases would be entirely in fair territory. But I think home plate would have to be normal size, or the strike zone would become unwieldy.

125 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:43 pm

[124] would the front of first and third bases still be 90' from home?

126 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:43 pm

damn.

down to the final out...

127 rbj   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:45 pm

Shit

128 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:45 pm

well, fuck.

129 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:45 pm

facing archer tomorrow...

130 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:45 pm

[125] No, the rule is 90' from middle of bag to middle of bag, so that would not change.

Ugh. One of those games.

Win tomorrow!

131 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:45 pm

A 1/4 inch either way on DDi's bat on that bases loaded liner, the Yankees win.

132 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:47 pm

Tomorrow, tomorrow.

[130] you're cra cra!

133 thelarmis   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:47 pm

no monkey business tomorrow.

134 RIYank   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:50 pm

Wait, I'm mistaken. Second base has its center on the corner of the diamond, but third and first are entirely inside the diamond. So the distance from the front of third base to home would be a mere 75'.

135 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:52 pm

[130] I thought it's 90' from the bottom of homeplate to the back corner of the base on the line?

136 kenboyer made me cry   ~  Sep 5, 2015 3:54 pm

Eovaldi didn't have his stuff, but still kept the team in contention. It was a tight game...

137 Bronx Boy in NC   ~  Sep 5, 2015 9:51 pm

Rule 1.04 fellas. Home, first and third are entirely within and contiguous to the 90-foot square. Second base is centered on the corner of that square. When you've had to throw first to third and home to second a few hundred times, you look it up.
