"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Which Way is Up?

Little I

Every loss hurts now, some more than others. Yesterday’s loss was painful because the breaks didn’t go the Yankees’ way. They put men on base, they hit the ball hard, they hit into outs. 3-2 was the final.

The Jays won, their lead back to a game-and-a-half.

Nova’s gonna have to bring his A-game today cause the Rays have the formidable Chris Archer on the bump.

Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Brett Gardner LF
Carlos Beltran RF
Brian McCann C
Alex Rodriguez DH
Greg Bird 1B
Chase Headley 3B
Didi Gregorius SS
Stephen Drew 2B

Never mind the end of summer:

Let's see before the grandkids arrive and I get distracted. Yanks are 21 and 22 in one run games. They seldom lose a lead but rarely come back late. Some years are like that. Unlike 2009 very few walkoffs. Hope the Birds can do work because Chris Archer is tough. Alex has never had a hit off him.

9 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:00 pm

it's likely the ballgame already. though a blast now ties it.

the weather is glorious here; not sure i'll be watching the whole game.

early this season, i read a handful of articles on archer and his childhood / background. pretty much, he's as cool as he is good at pitching. that said, i'd really love to hand him a loss here today!

11 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:03 pm

dammit. that was probably our best shot - gritner has very good #s against archer.

12 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:09 pm

When Didi has time, his throws to first are chest high at least 99% of the time.

13 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:10 pm

great frame for nova. 3 outs on 5 pitches.

14 Ara Just Fair   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:11 pm

The Beltran special.

15 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:19 pm

16 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:23 pm

22 MSM35   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:52 pm

Alex first hit off Archer ever.

23 Hank Waddles   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:54 pm

Say what you will about Ma and Pa Radio, but listening to Sterling call McCann's homer just now ("McCann can! McCann can!") followed by an A-Bomb! from A-Rod! was pretty awesome.

24 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:54 pm

very nice double by bird!

25 MSM35   ~  Sep 6, 2015 1:56 pm

How many commercial announcements between the homers?

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 2:00 pm

28 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 2:10 pm

damn. almost a quick and clean inning for wilson. instead, dellin coming in to get 4 outs.

29 MSM35   ~  Sep 6, 2015 2:11 pm

Not his fault but Mac couldn't handle the foul tip before the homer earlier.

30 thelarmis   ~  Sep 6, 2015 2:14 pm

damn. dellin lost longo.

31 rbj   ~  Sep 6, 2015 2:16 pm
