While it stinks the Yankees have to be sellers, it's for the best. They might not be better next year, but 2018 should be good. Sometimes ya gotta take a step back.
Well Modamn! This has been The perfect season to not religiously watch most games. I always liked Nova. He was good and terrible. And Beltran always made me wonder what if he had signed in his prime. Oh, well. Another October of not being stressed and enjoying the playoffs as an outsider. Go,Yankees! Go new prospects! And good luck to all those with a new home.
Figures they couldn't ship McCann; Braves balked on whatever the asking price was. I thought Cleveland would want in, but oh well. They have to do something with him so he doesn't block Sanchez and Romine since they're both out of options.
I'll watch some just to see if Alex has anything left, I've Betances becomes a closer, and if the kids we'll see soon are anything to put hope in. Meantime I will turn my attention more on my NL team, the Nats.
In honor of the housecleaning I finally tossed my VCR, which doesn't work and theVHS tapes (except one which was a friend's senior project, need to get it converted to DVD)
It would be nuts to try to trade Alex. His 'costs' are much lower to the Yankees than to any other team. We could just cut him. As my brother said, leave him on the curb on River Ave and see if anyone picks him up.
my two favorite post-jeter yankees are gone. beli and andrew.
i dig beltre a lot too, so it's cool the two beli's are together, but i can't get behind texass. i have no feelings for the land of cleve, but i'll be rooting for andrew.
Deep in my heart, I believe that I had to sacrifice the Yankees this year because in election years the other 'team' I'm rooting for is more important. So, it might be my fault. But if so, it's worth it, believe me.
With the Yankees out, my WS rooting is Tigers (for some ex Mud Hens), then Cubs (might as well get the last curse out of the way), then Indians for Miller, then Seattle (lived there for a year). Then it's anyone but Boston.
So, hm, why did they trade Ivan, then? They must think the return has some value. They could have kept him on the roster, let him walk this year to get a compensation draft pick, right?
I believe Nova was strictly a FA, not eligible for a QO. But I've been reading so much today that there might be something I missed. I could see resigning him next year to a team friendly contract.
[34] I'm pretty sure all free agents are eligible for a qualifying offer. As long as they played for the same team all year. (So Ivan can't get one from the Pirates.)
Cash Money has done such a great job with these trades, I'm all in on the youngsters in 2018. A-Rod for player/batting coach. Wouldn't be suprised to see JoeyJoeJoe and the team 'mutually part ways' as he seems not the guy for a rebuild.
Oooof, 94% humidity.
Absolutely beautiful here this past weekend -- I was on Cape Cod. A bit grey today. Great summer overall, though, so far! (I mean, baseball aside.)
Hm, Mike Axisa says Nova was not a Qualifying Offer candidate. I can't see why that should be. But I assume he's right.
So, okay, I remove my reservations on this trade.
In fact, as unYankee as it seems, I guess I should be rooting for a dismal finish so we get a high draft pick!
Now rereading, I think Axisa was saying that it wouldn't make sense to offer Nova a QO, because it would be too much money and he would simply take it. He didn't mean it wasn't allowed.
So that makes sense to me. In fact, even though I like Beltran, I don't think anyone should offer him $17 million next year, either.
[58] Moreover, you should have called him, "Crazy Cashman."
Need RELIEF from the summer heat?
Call Crazy Cashman.
His pitchers are IN-SANE!
Left-handers, right-handers, man-hadlers, even hobbled old DHs. Cashman it letting all go at Stadium Basement prices. But act NOW. The Deadline for Crazy Cash deals is tomorrow midnight.
Smart moves, and it's about time. I bet they let the coach contracts run out and Cashman starts putting in either placeholders or guys who could potentially inherit Joe's spot and see how he adapts, and if he doesn't, then let him go where he chooses when his contract runs out (or if he starts mishandling the high prospects). I have to admit that Girardi was the better choice to manage the roster they had at the beginning of his tenure than Mattingly, but now that it's about to change significantly, it might be time for him to do the same, one way or the other.
It would be nice to see a manager with a little more creativity take the helm. Part Casey Stengel with perhaps a dash of the good side of Billy Martin. (There is no one like Joe Madden alive, so don't' even go there.
Granted, I think G.I. Joe has done an admirable job, given the parts he's had to work with, but if we're gonna rebuild, really rebuild, let's go all in.
In principle creativity is good, but in practice it's almost always bad. That's why I'm the "No Plays!" guy.
What do you mean, there's no one like Joe Madden alive?? I thought you were only supposed to say that about dead people.
I think Girardi has done an incredible job with this roster. But i'm concerned about how crazy inconsistent our starting pitchers are. Nova is going to turn into another perennial all star we couldn't fix.
While it stinks the Yankees have to be sellers, it's for the best. They might not be better next year, but 2018 should be good. Sometimes ya gotta take a step back.
[1] Yeah it definitely sucks and is good. Or something like that anyhow.

D'oh. so close!
In honor of the housecleaning I finally tossed my VCR, which doesn't work and theVHS tapes (except one which was a friend's senior project, need to get it converted to DVD)
I'm gonna watch just to see if we ever score another run.
I was at a work event and then on vacation, and missed most of these deals.
Is this just a chance to restock the farm system, or are the Yanks looking at some of these guys as future players? I guess time will tell.
Couldn't they have packaged a few guys and made some team eat the rest of ARod's contract too ala the Dodgers?
Watching the game. Apparently we will see Sanchez on the big club this week.
Game over.
Alex is 10/5 so he's got no trade, plus I'm not sure another club would want the pr headache even for the full No Run DMC.
I can like Alex because he's been here for a WS win. New team, it would be a hard sell to the fans.
Best option, Alex hits #700, and retires, with the Yankees donating the $20 mil to charity.
Tied up! Thanks to the other team's fuck ups
Well we scored! On a wild pitch of course. Ellsberg was on the ball.
It would be nuts to try to trade Alex. His 'costs' are much lower to the Yankees than to any other team. We could just cut him. As my brother said, leave him on the curb on River Ave and see if anyone picks him up.

hey, look at that. a lead!
cc gets through one more inning, then it's No Run DMC. oh, wait...
With the Yankees out, my WS rooting is Tigers (for some ex Mud Hens), then Cubs (might as well get the last curse out of the way), then Indians for Miller, then Seattle (lived there for a year). Then it's anyone but Boston.
Hey, a second run, and a lead. Now a third!
hey, that's not some nice hitting! and running. and baseball fundamentals. and athleticism.
[18] for me, it's the giants. after the yankees, it's pretty much always the giants. i dig them.
[20] got to a Giants game last year. First time in a west coast park. Obviously Pirates are second here in da burgh.
i thought nimmo was part of the jay bruce trade. huh...
ooh. makin' grandy look baaaaad.
beltran woulda had that. ; )
Phew!
Speaking of Pittsburgh: who are we getting from them? Has it been decided?
whew.
[26] nope. two prospects to be named later. could be much later. and probably not high end at all.
It's two PTBNL from the Pirates.
Now watch Nova pitch well in the DHless league and Cashman overpay him on a new contract.
cc is not maddux or kaat on the mound...
who the FUCK is matt reynolds? we're so losing this game...
So, hm, why did they trade Ivan, then? They must think the return has some value. They could have kept him on the roster, let him walk this year to get a compensation draft pick, right?
wow. fucking wow. walked a pinch hitting *pitcher*!!!
pure shame. he was getting hit hard toward the end of the 5th. i was wary of him coming out for the 6th. now, we're gonna lose our 5th in a row...
I believe Nova was strictly a FA, not eligible for a QO. But I've been reading so much today that there might be something I missed. I could see resigning him next year to a team friendly contract.
But some offense would be real nice.
wow. we're a pretty pathetic ballclub.
he said a bad word. he's disgusted and disappointed in himself. i get it. gotta be able to get outta the inning there...
wow. more bullpen bollocks.
Well Betances should get plenty of rest the rest of this season
Well that could have been worse but wasn't good. I'm ready to just bring up a bunch of youngsters.
I'm still wiped out from driving all day yesterday. Night all.
[40] I know the feeling. G'night
the yankee clippard is back.
[34] I'm pretty sure all free agents are eligible for a qualifying offer. As long as they played for the same team all year. (So Ivan can't get one from the Pirates.)

DIDI!!!
Didi doing the Rod Carew there!
[45][46] Long time, No Banter gentlemen! Good to see ya. Hope your summers are well. Fighting off 94% humidity here but some fun ahead in August.
Oooof, 94% humidity.
Absolutely beautiful here this past weekend -- I was on Cape Cod. A bit grey today. Great summer overall, though, so far! (I mean, baseball aside.)
Dang, the Yankee Clippard and Justice Warren. Seems like old times...
i live in hotlanta. it's brutal down here and my power bill was *insane*
wow - look how young Andy was!!!
it's funny. the "let's go yankees/yankees suck" chant sounds like the same group of people. hmmm...
wow. fuck. what a catch by grandy.
wheels.

[51] I know guy named Eddie can help you with an aircon, he's a little Crazy but his prices aren't insane...
[57] Damn, screwed that one up..should have said 'he's not crazy but his PRICES are IN-SANE'...
Now rereading, I think Axisa was saying that it wouldn't make sense to offer Nova a QO, because it would be too much money and he would simply take it. He didn't mean it wasn't allowed.

That sacrifice bunt was extremely stupid. Really, really stupid.
i missed most of the 10th. we're winning, now about to lose. huh...
dellin's throws to first are weird.
winning run in scoring position.
Would ya look at that?
Yankees win!
It's still fun to watch.
it's just never easy.
victory!
Hell yeah. That was a nice win though it helped that the mets were mad sloppy at times.
[58] Moreover, you should have called him, "Crazy Cashman."

Ooops. Some typos in that ad copy.
"man-handlers" (tasteless I know)
"letting it all go"

[69] I agree. It's time to let Joe go.
