In all the time I’ve hosted the Banter I have not been more distant from the game than I am now. But that doesn’t make it uninteresting to me. I am just busy with other stuff—like unearthing this bitchy 1967 Rex Reed profile of Warren Beatty while he was promoting Bonnie and Clyde. But I hear they are playing games already.
Sounds like fun. What do I need to know?

[0] Wait for it...
Yankees have a pitcher named Evan Rutckyj
Where's Diana when you need her.
2) I like the sound of that name. Hey, what happened with the Lo Hud blog? I see it isn't really active anymore.
[3] They let Chad Jennings et al. go. In a cost savings move. So now I have no reason to visit their site anymore.
[4] Holy crap! That's terrible. Oh well, so much for LoHud; Chad was a good read.
[3] [4] [5] I was wondering, too. Now I know I don't have some software problem (which was what my paranoid self was thinking).
I guess I will have to bookmark River Ave Blues.
Woo hoo, live Yankees game at 6:30 pm this evening, MLBN!
[6] River Ave Blues RULES!! I miss Chad at LoHud, and the in-game and post game stuff, but RAB is far superior as a baseball blog. I started reading there religiously last year when LoHud became a pay site. Now, I lament the fact I haven't been reading there the past 10 years! Bookmark it today and read it multiple times a day - you won't be sorry! Just stay away from the comments :)
And it's baseball!
Headley in mid season error prone form.
Holliday takes a vacation around the bases
Chapman looks good, and Bird's shoulder seems fine. Out of the stadium
The kids look good too.
Ouch! http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/95784/is-jacoby-ellsbury-the-yankees-worst-free-agent-signing-ever
[14] Double and triple "ouch." You know it's bad when you're compared to Ed Whitson, The American Idle, and Not-O-Kei Igawa in one article.
Never understood this move, which was followed by suddenly getting frugal with Canó.
Bring on Ginger Frazier!
[15] Signing Ellsbury was a straight-up panic move. The only somewhat-fair comparison to these three is with Igawa, another panic move. Robbie chose Seattle's stupid money move over the Yanks, which was his right and to be fair again, the only real way they could get him to move off the Yanks even though they weren't even close to offering what he and Roc Nation wanted. But after those events, they panicked and signed Ellsbury, again mistaking any big move as an appeasement of Yanks fans.
Frankly, I think there are quite enough bad signings that could compete with Ellsbury; at least with him, the Yanks weren't necessarily crippling themselves financially or otherwise in the long run (like they did with Alex). Another E@#$ overreaction piece.
