From the Outside Looking In

blue sky bags

What I know from these Yankees is less than somewhat. I did catch a few pitches of a spring training game the other day and saw Greg Bird hit a long home run. Now there is a guy I am eager to watch this season. He was so appealing in 2015, young, sure, and poised. I really liked his quiet confidence.

Who are you looking forward to watching this year?

Back home after my spring training trip. Caught the Nats at their opening day in the new Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Lovely site. Also caught a game between the yanks and ATL in Tampa. Not a great "fan experience" when the will-call window openned a half hour late. For those who haven't visited, there's lots of nice memory walls to take a gander at. Price are on the high end, but great seats were available. Enjoyed watching a couple of regulars and some of the baby bombers. Looking forward to the season!
By the way, spent the day (before the night game) walking the Tampa River Walk. Lovely spot, with some great quites set in stone, especially this Yogism: "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore."

Pirate announcers are . . . boring

This game is not making me feel any better.

Congrats to A-Rod on his new gig.

The short lived flirt with playoff contention aside, Didi and Starlin were my favorites stories of the 2016 season. Looking forward to more of that in 2017.

Bird for sure and also Sanchez. I have always wanted Refsnyder to do well but don't know if he can make it past SWB.

[8] Oh, which means Didi to 2B and Sluggin' Starlin to the Rays or Padres or Reds or any old team that can throw us a prospect.

Looking forward to the Yanks making their July trip to Minneapolis. I live a 10 minute walk from Target Field and a day baseball game on a Wednesday sounds good right about now.

Anybody else enjoying the WBC? I know I am. (Israel 3-0, pool winner. Who'd of thunk it?)

[12] Yeah, what I can see of it. Most games are too early/late for me. But U.S. gets underway at 6 pm tomorrow.

I look forward to seeing everyone that is not some BWOAP - Boring to Watch Old Ass Player - or they just suck. Probably easier to point out who I'm not that excited about:

Ellsbury - BWOAP and Sucks
Headley - BWOAP and Sucks
Holliday - BWOAP
Gardner - BWOAP
Pineda - Sucks (not technically old, but frustrating as fuck to watch!)
CC - BWOAP

That list does not mean these are players I do not like. For the most part I like a lot of them, but again, probably easier to point the players I could care less about if they were traded away today:

Ellsbury
Pineda
Headley

14) Agree on most of these calls! I have a stupid soft spot for Pineda but agree he is so frustrating to watch. Holliday and Carter I don’t mind because they are what they are but yeah, Headley has been a bust, Ellsbury a monumental bust, and Gardner is aesthetically so unappealing to me that it cuts into my appreciation of him.
