I think they're also waiting to see how Andujar responds to treatment before deciding whether or not to shut him down for the season; frankly he was rushed back too soon and it showed, so he's probably done for the year. Morales has lightning-in-a-bottle potential; not anything like Voit, but he's a proven hitter and can handle 1st at least as well as Voit, so it's not necessarily a bad signing UNLESS... well, lets not even speak on that. The Yanks are straight-up buying these older players for pennies on the dollar and getting bang for their buck for the most part, yet I bet they expect the core of their lineup to return this year and aren't prepared to make any long-term decisions when they only have one chance to do so (July 31). So far, their pickups have been far better than expected, so there just might be something worth waiting for with Morales. If not, they can cut him, they only lose chump change.
