The Yanks got four runs off Justin Verlander in the first and that’s all they’d get but it was enough as our boys pushed the series back to Houston tonight for Game Six.
Win or go home. You know the drill.
Never mind the odds:
Let’s Go Yankees!
Elimination Game #2.
Just win tonight!
I predict we'll need at least 7 runs to win this game. Ain't no way Green, Cessa, Happ, Ottavano, Lasgna, most of whom will take part in trying to complete 5 innings, will keep Houston under 6 runs.
The Astros used an 'opener' four times this year. They were 0-4 with a 6.25 ERA.
I am cautiously optimistic!
[1] Come back with your shields or on them, boys.
As an intermittent poster/lurker I’ve been grateful for the company this week!
Tonight I am a cliche come to life: That Guy who is recording the game and running home from a concert hall hoping no one mentions the score. So I’ll catch you all back here in real time for Game Seven!
[5] They shall march on a road of bones.
[4] Sounds good to me - so the Astros are terrible in bullpen games, then. Let's see about making it 0-5 with a higher ERA!
Well that fucking sucked.
SEVEN pitches??
Let’s go Green!!
Rats. Little Fucker!
Already at 20 pitches
At this rate Chad is only going for one inning. At best.
FUCK
Fuckity fuck fuck.
Green is cooked
Well done, Chad. Well Fucking done.
I hate that fucking racist
Those killer walks
Well, that was suboptimal.
Lots of 3 run hrs this series
Cy fucking Peacock
Unfortunately, were losing the 3-run homer race
1 ball in 12 pitches
Jesus. Fucking awful
Nice, Didi.
Gary lives!
Good. Now, tie it the fuck up
That’s one back
Way outside, blue
I would like Gio to be the most happy fella now
Oh, man. Couldn’t advance...
Fuck you, Blue.
INSIDE! Fuck off ump
Ump has made at least 6 dubious calls already.
Goddamn bullshit ump
Jesus Fucking Christ!!!!!!!!!!!
FIRE THAT UMP!!! WTF???
Fucking AWFUL calls there!!
Well that was not a strike.
Positive: Bottom of the order is waking up.
Fuck you blue.
HAPPy birthday, Jay
Modern baseball is such garbage. Elimination game and they have to use HAPP in the second inning??
Oh, my god. Happ? Where are my prayer beads?
Happ needs to keep it here and give us length. Birthday boy can do it!
No Chirinos? That's weird.
Why isn’t that strike? Oh, because it’s a Yankee pitcher
[45] he’s been getting really beat up behind the dish. 4 games in a row, late arrival.
So this ump calls balls strikes and strikes balls. Something we can use?
5.40 ERA pitchers usually don't get the benefit of the doubt. Sad state of affairs that in an elimination game we trot out a non-starter followed up by our worst actual starter. What happened to the idea that you play to win today's game. If that's true Severino would have been the starter.
We can use a robot ump!
[49] lotsa good stuff in there. Yeah, you have to GET to game 7 first. Sevy would be the better bet. But, we do have an excellent pen, though they’re overused and we should be able to beat their pen. At this point, we just need to fucking WIN!!!
So the Yankees had 6 1,2.3 innings last night. Oi! There offense is well rested. Get 'r done!
[50] I picture a time in the future, players smashing the shit out of a robot ump with their bats.
How can you let that pitch go?
Ok, kid. Pretend it’s Game 1 again!
Shit, Judge should’ve been running on the play.
Great job by Gleyber
Judge get a bad read? Oi!
Crap. That would’ve scored Judge...
Come on, EE.
Who’s the supermodel in Cashman’s booth?!?! : o
Love me some Didi! You can do it!
Come on Sir Didi!
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
FUCK!!!!!!
Awful..
Take a goddamn fucking pitch. Jesus.
Modammit.
Take a fuckin pitch sometime, Didi...
Didi won't be back next year so there's that
Nobody can get an important hit. Nobody. Wasted chances time and again. Brutal.
Suboptimal. Take a goddamn pitch FFS.
This team is just dumb from management down. Anybody thinking Green was going to effective hasn't been listening to Correa's post game interviews. Green is good when you play different opponents every few days because he's as basic a pitcher, err thrower, as it gets.
Lead off walk. Solid!
Swing at the first pitch, then give up a leadoff walk. I guess these guys are ready to go home for winter
They at least got the maximum number of home dates one could have expected so that should please Hal.
Let's try some positivity, guys. Please.
Happ will get the DP here
Does Bregman get 12 abs a game? Cripes!
Gah. What a shit at bat from Didi.
And Pressley reminds me of this guy from Star Wars:
https://media1.giphy.com/media/Vm2FDp2cHI4tq/giphy.gif
[60] LOL, you and your blondes ...
I still wish Judge had been running on the 3-2 pitches. This would be a 1-run ballgame right now
Way to get out of it
Happ for another?
Yes!
[80] yup! : )
Jomboy, of course, has a tweet about that shot up now.
[83] yes, please
Thank goodness. Happ may need to go 1 more. Egads! Let's score some friggin' runs ffs!
[60] Here's a joke from the BBTF game thread:
"That was Cashmans personal sabermatrician. She always has great figures."
Happ for as long as possible. Then... I don't know. Matchup dictates I guess.
[88] nice! And, a lot nicer than the comments on twitter
We need to destroy this pitcher. Become savages again
[88] Ba dum dum.
Goddamnit Gary
We need a "Savages" rant on this ump.
GO GO GIO POWER!!!
Giooooooooooooooooooooo!
Gio!
I love GIO!!!
Should be a tie game...
I'm a most happy fella.
Sanchez needs to give up his Kraken nickname. If he wants something nautical it should be the Bermuda Triangle. Where rallies go to die.
[90] Well, much like the Mos Eisley cantina, Twitter is a hive of scum and villainy ...
ARGH ... thought that was fair. Doh!
Argh
Too much English.
Had to walk the dog, at least it helped a little.
Nice AB by Brett. Speed on the bases, contact hitter up. Hit and run? Steal a bag?
C'mon, DJLM!
I think we'll see Greinke in this game
This ump is a DISGRACE
Worst Fucking ump of the series. Fucking tragic. Wake up, douchebag!
Loud out. But, an out...
Damn unjuiced ball
Juuuuuust missed it.
Judge needs to rise and rule right here and now. Gavel time
They’re tagging him. Just not in fair territory or the wrong part of the outfield.
I guess Jduge wasn't looking at the DJ AB
[108] Let's hope he has a panic attack.
Fucking terrible
There will be more runs scored in this game. By both teams.
[116] seriously. That first pitch outside offspeed was so obvious
Happ or Cessa? Need to squeeze 1 more from JA.
Hey they ump missed a strike. And squeezes a 3rd. Unfuckingreal.
Gold Glove Gio
I would’ve kept Happ in for another
If Urshela never gets another hit, he's been worth his weight in gold.
It would be nice to know what the logic is not using Happ in a long relief role when he is pitching fine. Does his stretchiness vanish when he's used as a reliever?
[126] He can pitch tomorrow?
13 pitchers on the roster and we see Happ then Cessa in an elimination game? What kind of logic is this
Happ didn’t even go through the order one time
Gio is one slick fielder.
[127] has he ever pitched on back to back days?
[127] I would hope they use Tanaka instead, or even Paxton, if tomorrow happens.
Cart before horse, y'all ! Lol...
Don’t lose this guy.
I didn’t like that swing. Put him away quick
That’s it!
Beautiful!
Gleyber needs to tie this up immediately
Atta boy, Cessa! Fire ☝ the score truck!
Keep putting up 0's
[128] Well, it's working out so far.
Green + Cessa from Justin Wilson trade
Cessa looked good. I'd say keep him in there instead of going with mystery door number #3.
Someone call the Score Truck.
[143] yes
Why swing at that?
Terrible
I miss the parrot
The top half innings are cake for the stros. Bottom half innings are a slog. God dammit!
Don’t fall for the changeup
Just awful
Fail x infinity.
Hell, Stanton could have provided that kind of uselessness at the plate ...
Sit EE and bring in Stanton.
Stanton could’ve done that
Time for toast. You have breakfast, Jazz.
Doesn't make sense. Neither EE nor Stanton are hitting, but only one will be back next year. Naturally we bench that one in the biggest game of the year.
Nice foot work, Gary. Ugh.
What a throw by Sanchez, but waited too long. Sheet.
Great. Their fucking CATCHER gets a leadoff bunt hit
Take your time there Gary.
I was just happy Gary got out of his crouch before Maldonado reached second
Ok. Now, a quick DP
Houston fans very creative. "I love Homers." Weak sauce
Boo-yah!
Very nice!
Thanks goodness the ump is not giving the Yankees the same leeway as stros pitchers. Keeps things extra ezciting. Double play!
Zero pressure on stros pitching. ZERO.
We have struck out 8 times already
Gary!
And of course the base runner they get is Sanchez. Beggars can't be choosers I suppose.
There’s the bloop. How about the blast now?
Too high.
Fucking hell
I think we are owed a broken bat base hit
Bugger.
What's the under over on time of this game. 4:00/5:10?
Take a pitch, ugh
These 1st pitch dribblers and pop outs throughout the series has to be 10 or more.
I think I'd rather the Astros get 10 runs so we can put an end to this slow death march
RISP Savages. Not.
First pitch feebleness
DJ usually puts good wood on it.
It’s getting late early
Why the fuck isn't Stanton DHing again? Hang nail? Jock itch? Herpes?
Active reaching is 100%
So Tommy Tightpants, then Britton. The Unknown Comic. El Chappo?
I think maybe they should DH Romine
Third day in a row for Kahnle
Give 'em hell, Tommy.
Fail. If the ump who sucks gets in Kahlne's head of rocks this inning is fucked.
Here comes the end of our season
Boone does know it's the 6th right? Can't give up runs like that
Lead off walk, ERGH!
Now we need two solo homers
They can't even get productive outs.
We should have played the infield in and got the little fucker at home. Since he was back, DD should not have looked at home and we would’ve had a double play
That was a strike
That's a Fucking strike!
Jeebus Farking Christabol Blue, that was a strike!
Yup.
Oh my god. Season over
Holy shit.
He was doing so much better...
Here comes the 3 run job.
One more strike here please
Phew!
Yes!!!
PHEW.
Still alive
Hot damn! Yikes! Now can the O not look like complete and utter horseshit!?
I will throw something at the TV if the first batter swings at the first pitch
TV still functional, unfortunately.
Eat Fucking shit, blue. You are a goddamn disgrace!
Zero warming. HUZZAH!
Crap
I think Zero will put up a zero!
More first pitch swinging. Where are the savages?
Wait. The pitch in the dirt wasn’t called a strike?
It is unbelievable to me that everybody swings at the first pitch.
[218] they’re still in the BrOnX
Wait to lay off that one
EE on deck...
Oh my fucking god
Well that is just bad luck.
Buck just blew a load. Wonderful.
You have got to be shitting me.
Back breaker.
That’s two base running blunders by the best base runner on the team
Britton and Chapman for the next 3?
Judge didn’t run earlier when he should have, then ran when he shouldn’t have
This series should already be over. How is it game six when we cant pitch, hit or field while the Astros are able to do all three?
[232] Don't forget run
He can't be putting Outta the Park Ottavino in, can he?
Ottavino, really?
Oddly, I think Otto is gonna be fine here
Watch out for the bunt
Pinch hit for Encarnacion?
Judge definitely fucked that up.
It looked like Judge was doing a cha-cha out there.
Judge should have been about 2/3rd and wait to see if it was caught.
Nice catch, Gary
For the love of CC...tighten this shit up! Hold them, come back, and fucking WIN
Damn. Judge needs to stop sitting near Gary on the bench.
What is this the Trop?
I like Otto and believe in him. That was good.
Ok, Ottavino got 3 outs, now we need 3 runs!
[245] juice bowl
EE, Gary, and Didi. Sounds like runs!
OK. Two more chances.
[238] I certainly would. EE was on deck last inning though. Maybe Boone knows something about Stanton we don’t...
If Stanton is hurt then shouldn't they replace him with Ford or Cout?
Voit I meamt
No G- Force
Time for a rally snus. And I might as well get the fidget spinner going, too
[253] at this point, I think Cout is our best option! ; )
Why not Maybin? Shit.
Is Maybin hurt? I don't understand why EE continues to be allowed to hit
“Gregorius takes a ball” - my hearing isn’t very good. Did I hear that right?
Nice hit!
When was the last time Gary was scary? With a bat that is.
Ridiculous call
[258] his wrist isn’t great, but he’s not injured. Great call! I’d totally rather have him at DH.
Another awful call
What is he looking for?
Was that a make up ball?
Fuck!
holy fuck. That was ridiculous
It ain't gonna happen. Shit.
Now Joe Buck complains about the home plate ump? Fuck you, Joe.
Houston playing like a champion. We are not. That's pretty much all there needs to be said.
Good work, Gary. This team can't Fucking do anything right and it's game Fucking 6 vs. The "best" team in baseball. Goddamn Fucking Bollocks!
Never underestimate the heart of a champion. Come on savages!
Houston’s offense hasn’t been great. We’ve been beating ourselves a lot. This sucks
This would be sooo much better if it comes down to Sevy and Cole in Game 7.
From our old friend Cliff:
The Yankees have had the tying run or better at the plate 20 times in this game. That’s not an exaggeration.
Yes! A walk! The fewer strikes the better!
Gritner, DJ, Judge due up.
Don’t allow another fucking run!
Umm Chapman?
Don’t let CC’s baseball career end tonight
NO passed ball/wild pitch
Of course the appeal goes Houston’s way
That appeal call on Didi yesterday was disgusting
Britton has this.
thelarmis, 20 times?! That's insane. They really gotta execute at the plate in the 9th...
Walk everybody!
Another walk or passed ball.
That would’ve been called strike 3 if a Yankee batter were at the plate
Why is Chapman not in this game? For fuck sake.
Grinding teeth.
[283] yeah. This is on our hitters
I feel calm. Britton is getting the third out.
thealarmis, no shit
I just copied Cliff’s tweet. I trust him implicitly. Crazy data
He is going to walk in a run. Unreal
He sooo went. WHAT THE FUCK???
Jesus Fucking Christ!!!!!$
Fuck these umps on the appeal. It’s just wrong
Now or never.
Three more chances. Let's GO YAN-keeees!
Ok, everyone. Here we go. This is it.
Oh, I was wrong. Gio, Gritner, DJ.
Let’s do this!
Between Didi's call last night and that last non call. Oi!
Please God don't swing at the first pitch.
We can do it!
Gio
Giooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Happy? Fella!
Just Fair, yank in texas - just curious: you on Facebook?
The Gardy man can.
Should’ve let it hit him
Lean into it, Brett!
Hardly on Facebook but yeah. /tororichard
It did not hit him
Gardy shouldhave pulled a Don Baylor and taken it for the team.
Thelarmis, yes to fb.
Brett's 25th k of series.
Well, it was a fun season.
[310] couldn’t find you, but I hear ya for not being on there much
[313] very cool! I have a lot of banter buds on there. Find me if you want. My name + drums. But, not the music page; I have a personal page. The two should pop up and be easy to find...
Not over yet, rbj
Very in-DJ like swing
Come on Pepe Lemay-hyoo
Dinger time
Oh, and my name is right on the ‘thelarmis’ hyperlink
Why swing at that pitch?
We ain’t goin out like that
Actually it's https://facebook.com/toro.richard
If we somehow come back here, we are winning tomorrow
When we win here
Yessss
Tied up! Hahaha! Tied up! We are not done yet!!!!!
Yessssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!
MVP
WOW!!!
Hell yes, Le Machine!
The MACHIIIIIIIIIIIINE!
Never mind judge getting completely hosed. Grrrrrrrrr!
Here is where Gleyber buries Game 6
Dang. Well, we're still alive.
So Chapman until his arm falls off?
Man, my stomach can't take this.
[337] ala Mo in . . . ?
Chapman until we win is right Yankintexas
Houston’s bullpen is paper thin now. Who they got now?
That’s one
Catch the fucking ball. That was a strikeout!
This at bat is terrifying
Get him out quick and keep the pitch count low
Great slider working
High cheese change the eye level
A little too high
Don’t lose him. Get the fucking out NOW!
Lost him
Fucking altuve. Always with this little fucker.
Keep springer on first
Throw strikes!
Get the fucking tater tot
Chap went to hell after that mound visit.
Chappy overthrowing. Not good....
Figures.
Fuuuuuck
Little fucker
Well, we gave it a good run.
Go Nats.
Marisnick was on deck. Shouldn’t have pitched to him
Stupid walks all freaking day
Jeebus. That was an awful series top to bottom.
[362] Good point
The first question to Boone should be: why pitch to Altuve with Marisnik on deck. Then follow it up with: ok, that answer sucked. Tell us something different
Boone doesn't think. He just does. What the binder says.
But to be fair, that would have pushed Springer to scoring position.
It would have. But, still: Altuve or Marisnik?
Go Nats
[366] That puts the winning run on 2nd w/2 out. It would have been a dangerous move. Chappy blew it. Altuve is a high ball hitter. He doesn't have much power going to the opposite field. Chappy should have been going low and away.
It all sucks
That cement mixer slider is one we won’t soon forget. Lousy way to end a rousing year.
Admittedly, I didn’t listen to the announcers much. Thankfully, the crowd noise often made it difficult to hear Smoltz. What I didn’t hear was how the Yanks not only were able to achieve so much in a year where 30 players went on the IL, but our arguably most effective starter German, beat up his girlfriend and was not able to pitch in the playoffs.
The Yanks did an amazing job of holding down so many of the Astros players.
It was sad that Encarnacion was a non factor. He, Sanchez and Stanton were too rusty to be effective due to little to no playing time prior. Hicks managed to shake off some of the rust and he played good D. Sanchez seemed to regress and couldn’t corral a lot of the pitches he handled well during the year.
I’m disappointed but considering all they overcame this year, to get to Game 6 of the ALCS, is something to be proud of.
Let’s back up the $ truck for Cole and at a minimum, make whoever signs him, if not the Yanks, pays him a hunk a chunk of money.
Even if we were to get Cole, it won't matter if we don't also change the way we deploy the bullpen.
We lost game 6 partly because in game 5 Verlander allowed Hinch to rest his pen despite a losing effort. Had this been Boone, and [insert any Yankee starter] gave up 4 runs in the first they never would have been allowed to pitch deep into the game. We win game 5 yet still use more pitchers than Houston, including Kahlne and Britton, both of which didn't pitch well in game 6. Now you could argue Boone was just trying to win game 5 at any cost but that argument doesn't hold water in game 6 when Boone held back Severino, Tanaka, didn't use Chapman, earlier in a game, forgot he had a bench, all of this in a game that was equally do or die as game 5. In a nutshell we lost because Houston not only had better pitching but also a far better manager.
I think Boone was in a no win situation. If he leaves in a starter too long, everyone says "look at your bullpen." If he takes a starter out and the BP fails, he has to deal with that too. To me this was more about pitch selection and again, why not go after Marisnick as was pointed out above and by the broadcasters?
I don't think anyone would have guessed that Otto would continually shit himself.
The rain out certainly changed the calculus. But, I was upset that Chapman came in too early in Game 2. I thought Britton could have gone 2 innings, and perhaps Chappie is pitching with the lead at that point? Also he faced the bottom of the order, and ended up using way too many pitches. He was probably out of synch in Game 6 from inactivity.
The Yanks had to rely on their bullpen because of some questionable deals. I love CC, but anyone with eyes could see that he was literally on his last legs. Tanaka never lasted very long. Nobody could forecast how long Severino was going to be out or that German would hit his wife. but there were too many questions marks in their rotation to start and then they didn't get an arm at the deadline.
Just imagine if Bettances had been healthy or Ottavino lived up to his season play.
Too many guys were coming back with the season getting ready to end or worse, Encarnacion never made it back for the end of the season. The Yanks offense stumbled around a lot and left too many ducks on the pond. The feast or famine offense didn't feast enough.
My “Savages in the Box” T-shirt, which I ordered ostensibly to have in time for the start of the playoffs, arrived just today.
Everyone involved could have saved a bunch of money and time if the Etsy merchant had just sent a postcard instead that read “Dear letter carrier: Please knock on door and kick recipient once in the balls.”
Houston wasn't much better offensively than us. Their RISP batting average was only slightly better, but still not very good. Houston won because they were significantly better in starting pitching (no surprise), bullpen (big surprise to me), defense (another big surprise) and game strategy (no surprise there). If we had narrowed the gap in the starting pitching in the off-season (ex sign Corbin or Morton or even Lance Lynn instead of Happ and CC, both of whom I was against at the time) or made a deadline deal (ex Bauer, Ray) they probably beat Houston.
Cole will be a free agent. Strassborg has an opt-out. Just sayin. I think it's not a coincidence that the 2 WS teams have perhaps 3 or 4 of the top 5 starters.
In 6 games against the 'Stros, we gave up 22 (0,3,4,8,1 and 6) Runs. I would sign up for that. Even though we got little from Judge, and NOTHING from Sanchez and EE, the Astros gave up 21 Runs.
Sure, I wish we had a better SP (although Sevy was rusty and German was absent), but it was not bad. The loss was on the offense, and the BP had it's let downs.
We had enough SP to win.
Our team was built on Offense.
The loss was on the offense.
Nice to see Nats win, first DC WS victory in like 86 years. Who's better, Glayber or Soto? Discuss among yourselves.
And we need more starting pitching. Can't really go through a series with a BP game.
Gleyber is really, really good (125 OPS+).
However, Soto is a monster (140 OPS+).
[380] Judge, Gary and EE should make a fearsome middle-of-the-order.
In the ALCS, combined, they went 10 for 66 (.152) with 2 HRs.
That's why we lost.
Nats are kicking arse. 'Stros are getting out-hit and out-pitched. Pour Houston. I thought they were apex predators?
TJ surgery for Hicks. So 2020 Yankees are firing the injury bug right away.
Why don't they just perform TJ on everyone and get it over with? And while they are at it perform a labotmy on the training staff?
[383] I noticed that comment from Correa also. I realize it was heat of the moment, but it still pissed me off. Still pisses me off right now, as a matter of fact.
Cashman has dismissed the idea of Ellsbury being an option. Must be real bad. At least next year is the last guaranteed year.
Anyone for some Where & When? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EH4rMy1WsAAB2z-?format=jpg&name=medium
No Scherzer, gulp.
[388] I’ll try tomorrow.
Sucks about Scherzer. Hopefully, Ross can pull an Urquidy. Not off to a good start... : (
Love the first pitch DP to that little fucknut
Looks like there’s an optometrist store, Albert I or L Becker. Manhattan, but I’m not getting the right result.
It’s crazy just how many calls go the Astros way. If Suzuki caught a pitch like that, it’d be called a ball.
These fucking umps, man...
[388] I believe that modernist building with the setbacks is the "back" (41st St. side) of 330 West 42nd. St., which means the cafe in the foreground (8th and 41st) and everything else in the foreground is gone, sacrificed to the Port Authority Bus Terminal (1949) and its extension (1979).
Based on that I ended up finding this image in a Google search for the 8th Ave line, and it's tagged with the date 1935.
Whether or not I'm right this was a treat - thank you iyasu! Forgot how much I enjoyed these.
[392] [395]
Thanks, rbj and Bronx Boy.
A search on "Albert Becker" shows The Blue Book of Optometrists with a listing of 641 8th Ave., which is between W40/41 streets.
Bronx Boy, thanks for your explanation. It's great you even found the date!
Glad you enjoyed this, too. Where & When was always fun.
So who replaces Rothschild?
[397] Someone with no coaching experience who will be a rubber stamp for the analytics department?
[398] Analytics are helpful, but they can't calm you down or point out that you're tipping pitches. Or see that your curve isn't working today, go with the slider instead.
Soto is such a badass. Not sure why Verlander would challenge him like that.
I want a game seven. Just to stave off for another day of staring out the window and waiting for spring.
Umps still favoring the Astros I see. Such a terrible call at first. Not to mention the ridiculously long replay review.
what a great FU by Rendon. Srass has an opt out...... Rendon is a Free agent. just saying. btw. why did they can Rothschild? Kevin long doing a great job for the nats. Let's go nats!
Game 7! I'll miss baseball during the winter..
Go Nats!
Interesting. A-Rod is back to doing ads. Reputation rehabbed.
We need a new thread. I can't stare at game 6 all winter! Lol... Go Nats. Down with the stros in 7.
Greinke is doing well.
Ok.
[406] Threads are closed after two weeks.
Nats take the lead.
Wowie Howie.
Nats! Oh and Patrick Corbin with the W...
So glad to see the Astros go down.
Now how long until Opening Day 2020..?
Happy, so happy for the Nats. especially happy for founding owner Ted (94!) and managing owner Mark Lerner (who has overcome cancer in the past 18 months). just wish it could have been a game 7 against the Yanks.
Hinch pulling Greinke After 80 pitches and only 2 hits seems to be getting some criticism. I'm glad that binder mentality bit him in the rear.
Chappie looking for an extension or he will opt out and the Yanks will put a QO on the table, which he will not accept.
I'm of the mind to let him go. I know timing is everything, and him giving up a dinger to Altuve on a slider, just hurts, and how many more years is he looking at. He is devastating when he is on, but is he going to be on for 5 more years at 25 mil per?
I would rather look at re-signing Betances, and we have Green, Kahnle and even Britton, but I like him better in the 8th. Ottavino was great before crapping himself in the playoffs. The Yanks made the smart move in not overypaying for Robertson, who ended up on the DL.
Congrats on Beltran for getting a managing job. Condolences on it being the Mets.
Bye bye Chappie - a QO for a guy who has lost a couple of mph each year for a couple doesn't make sense. Hope DB is fully recovered and can slide into the 9th inning role. Interesting that Hal says we have enough pitching (with guys coming back from IL and some of the kids). Might be a bargaining ploy re: Cole or Strassberg (the only 2 who make any sense at all on the market).
And good luck Carlos - you'll need it with the Nats, Braves, and Phillies (under new management) in the division.
And good luck to EE. Good move to let him move on, we'll have enough lumber in the lineup assuming soem health.
