As the pandemic continues to grip the country and insurrection is the mood of the moment, baseball still seems completely irrelevant to me, though I admit to keeping one eye out for trade news. It’s funny to think back on the Hot Stove League with nostalgia as it is a thing of the past, Francisco Lindor-to-the-Mets-notwithstanding.
But it looks as if the Yanks have finally gotten off the schneid: Corey Kluber for one year; DJ LeMahieu for six.

Hooray, a new post. I’m happy with the DJLM and Klubot signings. Now do Tanaka and is this it for Gardner?
I'm almost convinced they intend to bring Tanaka back; thus the team/tax-friendly deal that DJ took to come back. But I'm reading about a lot of talk of Tijuan Walker, Michael Brantley and Luis Castillo that makes me kinda worried, actually. Good players, but would the cost be worth it (aka will Cashman again tinker too much with a potentially strong roster and cause a weakness instead)?
The good news is that they've avoided arbitration with practically all their regulars with one year deals with raises. Hmm, perhaps that why the tax-friendly deal? If so, good on DJ to make that happen.
RIP, Don Sutton.
Well, WHEW.
Getting the Banter back is like getting a breath of clean air. I hope the Yankees keep Tanaka so I don’t have to go changing my license plate again. The last was 6JOBA5 and this is TANAKA19.
Happ to the Twins. I want Tanaka too, dunno how much the Yankees have left to spend.
I'd really love to see Masa back in the fold, but it just doesn't seem likely anymore. If I were running the Angels, I'd be calling Tanaka on a daily. Seems like a natural fit. The flight to Japan is five hours shorter, and he could help young Ohtani in any number of ways.
If I’m reading 314 right, the Yankees are at $207.4 million and want to stay under the $210 million cap. So basically there’s no room and I wouldn’t insult Tanaka with such a meager offer. I’d love to see him back, but I don’t own the team and it’s not my money.
RIP Hammer
Dang, Henry Aaron.
Oh man.
Farewell, Hank.
