Yanks and the formidable Chicago White Sox play in the Field of Dreams tonight.
Oh, what nostalgia. Not for me. But, still. LOL.
Hope it provides some dumb fun.
Yanks on a little run here. Funski.
Never mind the sentiment:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Brilliant thread header, Alex.
What a joke this thing is. During a pre-game interview I saw a drone hovering over the outfield. Just like old times.
I see Madison Avenue made it to the Field of Dreams.
(0) You so baaaaad, AB Iowa, I’ll pass, thanks.
Cool uniforms though for the ChiSox.
Does anyone else think of Green Acres whenever Heaney pitches?
Ok, I’m already sorry for my snarky comment. Tater into the corn field is kind of cool.
Heavy stinks, btw..
‘Heavy’, not ‘Heavy’
[5] Snark away, dude. This game is a made-to-order snark fest.
[6] Whut? He ain't heavy, he's my brother.
I suppose Lynn is Cash Ahab's Great White Whale.
(7) Yeah, I’m back to snark. Hearing JoeBuck wax poetic about ‘small town Iowa’ is hysterical. He’ll be ok the earliest forstcalss ticket out after the game
[10] Honestly, aside from the movie, I don't get the connection between Mid-West cornfields and baseball.
BTW, see if you can spot any black folks in the stands.
(11) Hah! I’d imagine not the most diverse part of the country. I actually once went to Dubuque, Iowa. Famous ‘ham’ town I was told.
Does anyone really like the movie? They should do a Bull Durham tie up instead, but I I guess that’s too naughty a film for MLB
My bad, Looks like they bused in some high school or Little League players.
[12] Right. Why not, "Bang The Drum Slowly." ;>)
(14) Major League?
Lance Lynn looks like he’s enjoy a beer or seven..
Judge bring new meaning to "can of corn."
My field of dreams was the old Boogie Down in the Bronx. Graffiti on the subway cars. The smell of reefer in the stands. And being afraid to go to the men's room.
Cole on the field: "It was very well received."
(17) I was too young to notice the reefer smells, but certainly remember the graffiti and awful bathrooms!
Heany is terrible, leave him in Iowa..
[19] Ha. One time the old man ratted on some smokers near us.
"If you build it, they will come" could be the tagline for an adult movie company.
Woo-hoo! Sometimes it pays to hang in there.
Now, who's gonna close?
Britton with a one-run lead. High anxiety time.
Fuck me. Why do I even bother?
This team just knows how to lose in big ways, and bigger ways and the biggest ways. That's got to be the theme of this season.
I missed the ending..Sigh..
Ha, and it ends on a homer in the corn. Go figure.
Seems like the Yanks are getting a lot of deep fly balls. Just need to go a little bit further
[29] Looks like we got one.
Who likes Green in tight games anymore?
Not me. This has disaster written all over it.
Ugh! I think I know how this ends…
JFC. Why would he throw a curve there?
Atta boy, Chad! You throw 98, but throw that hanger.
[33/34] Yes, Why would you throw a breaking ball there??
Who’s a bigger bum? Chase man, Britton or Green?
Well given how long we went without any kind of left handed hitting I figure Cashman would fix the bullpen and a lack of depth in the rotation sometime in the year 2025
Chapman. Stupid auto correct.
Well I'll be! Gallo with a BOMB!
I would have Riddling close going forward. Forget the veteran hasbeens who have all "suddenly" forgotten how to pitch when they banned the sticky stuff
[39] But can he pitch?
Joey Jacks one? Calm yourself Sterling.
Sterling? Yikes. Lol...
If anyone can fuck this game up it's Zack Britton. Go Zack.
Britton looks like he's pitching scared.
Maybe Krisk is now better than Britton? Call him up.
Groundhog Day.
So bring in a rookie with the bases loaded. Brilliant, Boonie!
[48] Cashman has given Boone a garbage staff this year what is Boone supposed to do?
Zack Britton should never pitch again in anything but mop up going forward.
Sketchy! Exhale.
Abreu should be the new closer until further notice. Fock Green and Britton.
And Green gets the "win."
And Beitton with the "hold". More like a load.
Hendricks got the win on Thursday. Explain how that makes sense. Give up 4 runs to blow a 3 run lead. I guess he did get 3 outs, too.
[0] AB, that pic was the perfect one for the cash grab that was that game. So spot on.
[55] Archaic rules developed in the 1800s, when the game was really different (2-3 pitchers per team, per year) really lost all meaning when the game changed in the 70s - to say nothing of today when most games feature double that many pitchers - but MLB has never bothered to update the rules, so...
Reminds me of 1995. Never an easy save.
Yeah reminds me of any year this team didn't make the playoffs. No yeam has ever been successful playing like this.
If they squeeze into the playoffs, I will be happy. Anything else is gravy, IMO.
Bar getting lower eh?
C'mon, Chad! You can do it!
MLB creates a new rule to reduce number of pitching changes (ie 3 batter minimum) and Boone is like, hold my beer.
Whoo-hoo! Big bottom of the 5th! Luke doinks one for 2 runs and Stanton smashes a 3-0 line drive for an rbi single.
Let's see if the red sox can show the Yankees how to score when the bases are loaded.
Hell Yeah! Craziness!
Holy shit! That was some play by Persota!!!
Peralta
Is the ball ok?
Holy shite! Good times.
Sox got Ryan McBroomed!
Good solid win.
So with Rizzo back is Voit going to DH and Judge move to center?
Rizzo needs to start in Yankee stadium. Lefty bat to the short porch. I like the idea of Voit DH and Judge CF though Gallo may be a better CF. Stanton is decent enough in right, his bat is alive. Tyler Wade is opening some eyes finally. One day he’s batting .160 you blinked and he’s batting .260 flashing leather and a legit threat on the basepath.
Been a while since I have posted, mostly due to being away from home w/o much internet.
I (like many of you) thought the season was cooked. Then, after yesterday, we're hoping for a playoff birth. After that, who knows?
What it comes down to, imho, is how well the army of guys on the IL come back. If we can get Chappie hot, there's still a chance. I must admit that it's been fun watching the kids play, but I'd rather see them in a couple of years when they might become real stars.
