Or something like that. Hey, so longtime Banterite and Yankee fan, none other than Mr. Okay Jazz Tokyo, has a question: My elderly father is in Washington DC and can’t navigate how to watch the Yankees. Does he need both Apple TV AND Amazon Prime? He can’t see them play Baltimore or the Nats either as those are blacked out locally…”
Lil’ help?

He can get the MLB package, which carries the Yanks. He can watch them play the O's and the Nats on local channels or on the local sporets network which is on basic cable.
Our old pal Cliff, in his "The Cycle" newsletter last week, said that the first few weeks of games on Apple+ will be free (ie, you don't need a subscription to watch them, just a free account and a computer or other device that will run the Apple+ app). Not sure how long that will last but I think the Yankees are on Apple+ only a couple of times the first few weeks.
I am actually not sure how the Amazon Prime games - former WPIX games - will work and am curious on that myself! I read conflicting reports - one said they won't be available out of market at all even with Amazon Prime, another said they are on MLB.TV out of market but in market you need Amazon Prime. I haven't seen a clear description yet.
Hope this helps your dad a bit, Mr. Okay Jazz!
[1] It seems the local games are sometimes blacked out though?
[2] I'll pass this info on to him, though I'm still a bit confused myself..! Either way, I'll tell him to re-up his MLB.com package to start, then check Apple TV for those first few games.
Thanks guys!
I've been spoiled with Yes and cable for nearly 20 years. The fact there there will be a handful of "must see" games I will not be willing to access this season pisses me off. 1st world problems I know. Oh, well. Go Yankees!
[4] [3] Jeez, what a shit show for folks in the USA. It seems like MLB is doing everything it can to make their product difficult to enjoy.
I remember the old days of WPIX and WNEW (was that the Met's station). Anyway good old channels 11 and 9.
Jazz, we are lucky to live abroad. The MLB package gives us full access to every single game by every single team. Spoilt for choice.
