It’s our man Hiroki vs. Yu Darvish in what should be a good one in the Bronx.
Brett Gardner CF
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Robinson Cano 2B
Travis Hafner DH
Lyle Overbay 1B
Zoilo Almonte LF
Jayson Nix SS
David Adams 3B
Chris Stewart C
Never mind the heat:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
I see plenty O' Ks in that lineup facing Darvish-san...
Nice leather, Zoilo
bases loaded, one out. GIDP expectancy these days is about 100%
[3] Or...
Or a K & a ground out.
Freaking Rob. So easy.
Oh, A-Rod cleared to play games. Question is, how much is left in the tank?
out by a mile.
Sure, now.
A Balboni sighting!
[7] Really?
[10]REALLY?? He still got the 'stache?
[10] Looking at Bye-Bye's BReference page..career OBP of .293!? How did he get more than 3400 career ABS??
Sigh.
[11] Didn't see. His back was turned, it was during the Olde Tymee Game.
[12] He had pictures of someone?
Quiet thread tonight..everyone scared off by Cashman's profane interview? (Is he losing it bit by bit? What an odd thing to get angry about...)
[12] Yeah, but he did have that one pretty good season, in 1985, and won a WS, too. I remember my dad being pretty excited about Balboni when he first came up, what with his Italian last name and all.
[15] ?. What interview are you talking about? Cashman seems pretty jerky of late.
What a joke..maybe A-Rod should tweet back to Cashman, 'cool, I'll just go stay on the DL and watch all your great off-season signings slug .350 then.'..
[16] If you are a Twitter user then just search for A-Rod and watch the explosion..basically, A-Rod tweeted that he was excited because his surgeon cleared him to start playing...and Cash flipped out while talking to ESPN and told him to STFU...
Boooooooone.
[17] If David Adams slugged .350, he'd have an orgasm.
18) Alex must have really pissed the Yankees off--and they must know he's going to be suspended. I mean, the guy is excited that he can play so he tweets it and his GM tells him to shut the fuck up. Now, Rodriguez may have been out of line saying that but Cashman could have downplayed it to the media and handled it privately. But you can just tell he's had enough of Rodriguez. Thing is, Alex looks foolish as always, even when trying to be eager about playing, but while Cashman has himself a quote for the ages, and one that will satisfy the legion of Rodriguez's detractors, Cashman also comes across as an unprofessional jerk.
[18] Yeah, I don't follow twitter...just can't get excited about the truncated opinions of various celebs on matters of the day. Still, I'll have to find a clip of Cashman freaking out. Maybe the stress of the Vernon Wells deal is finally getting to him. That contract has broken other GMs.
[22] I like to think Nietzsche would have Tweeted.
NEW YORK -- Livid over Alex Rodriguez's decision to tweet an update on his rehab process, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman had a message for the third baseman.
"You know what, when the Yankees want to announce something, [we will]," Cashman told ESPN New York. "Alex should just shut the f--- up. That's it. I'm going to call Alex now."
Rodriguez tweeted Tuesday that he has been cleared to play in rehab games. Rodriguez's comments seemed to contradict what Cashman told ESPN New York's Wallace Matthews on Monday.
[22][23] I love you guys. :)
But Twitter is everything Facebook is not..once you learn to control Twitter it's really valuable. All the updated music info (CD releases, concerts, etc) all the baseball info you need..and lots of great celeb gossip!
[21] Yes, shockingly unprofessional and un-Yankee-like move by Cashman. Breaks every PR rule in the book. Throws gasoline on what would have been tiny spark.
[22] It's on ESPN.
[25] And Jazz! And Boatzilla...
[21] As soon as I saw that A-Rod was on twitter I knew this wouldn't end well. One reason I avoid that medium. The world doesn't need to know every fleeting thought crossing your mind. But a NY GM should be aware of the media too.
As for the Miami clinic thing, you've got to choose which unsavory characters to believe. I couldn't convict in a court of law, but that's not the standard here.
28) So right. Once he joined twitter you knew, probably sooner rather than later, it would not go well. LOL
C-Stew throw!
See Adams throw two!
[21] Certainly joins the long list of great Yankee-Pride quotes like Mickey Mantle's 'Don't ask me, I ain't no cocksucker', 'Billy's 'One's a born liar, the other's convicted' and George's 'You Fat pussy toad.' Classiest organization in sports!
Unedited version of below got stuck in moderation..
[21] Certainly joins the long list of great Yankee-Pride quotes like Mickey Mantle's 'Don't ask me, I ain't no wee-wee sucker', Billy's 'One's a born liar, the other's convicted' and George's 'You Fat pussy toad.' Classiest organization in sports!
Ah.
I guess I can't say "Thanks be", though. That's only for Saves.
Attaboy Chris. Just watch, don't swing...
Oh, that is awesome. Awesome walk.
Very nice walk.
Oh dear, it's time for the binder of plays ...
Uh, that's Chris Stewart, mid-30s catcher on 1st base, right?
ugh ... shiite call.
Yeah, why no pinch runner???
Oh well, GOGOGARDNER...
Oh, perfect.
Dumb fucking inning. I can't wait for Joba to come in the game.
Rats.
Oh, yeaaaahhhhhhh.
Fucking sweet.
[41] Mo only threw 11 pitches..he can go two! Please no Joba!
ICHI!
Ichiwin!
ICHIRO could win this game if he wanted to!!!!!!!
Whoa, さよならホームラン!!イチロ!!
Damn, I wish AJ was still here ... just to see him pie Ichiro! after this walk off.
So cool.
Japanese night once again.
[43] He could not.
[46] He certainly could.
Did we just win a game with four solo homers???
[50] I was just thinking that, yeah.
Very cool.
Watched the end of the game, great win. Happy day in Japan, 'cept for Yu fans. Ichiro belongs here.
Cashman was a little over the top. He should apologize for his reaction to what seemed like something sprung on him. Maybe he knows that Arod will be suspended once he gets off the DL? In Arod's defense (unless there is information we don't have), his tweet appeared to be innocent enthusiasm.
[54] Cashman was out of line but it's kind of hard to feel sorry for A-Rod. Unfortunately, the entire organization and 90% of all Yankee fans hate A-rod at this point (with good reason). I'm surprised nobody in Tampa has knee-capped him.
