[2] Perhaps when the asinine contracts they have now (Alex, C.C., Teix, Beltran) are off the books, the high-hopes talent they've drafted in recent years will be ready to play. Until them, this team reminds me of the boy whose father caught him trying cigs and makes him smoke the whole pack.
At any rate, I'm kinda interested in what Refsnyder can do; if Moncada were here then Ref would likely be rendered a trade chip for more question-mark pitching. It's not that his trade value would be a bad thing, it's just that I don't have much faith in what the Yanks would likely bring back for him. Do all of our minor league moves have to be for pitchers, while they keep signing recovering journeymen and wash-ups for Triple-A backup?
I don't think adding weight when you are 34 and coming off 2 very disappointing seasons, and have knee trouble is a good idea.
David Wells pitched well with extra weight, but he also had some problems with gout and back problems.
Obviously, I hope it works for CC. Certainly an easier off season training program to gain weight than to lose it. No, I can't eat a pizza, but I can eat three pizzas.
On Moncada, it is surprising. You can't fix all of your problems by throwing money at them, but it helps if you throw the money wisely.
They spent a lot on Tanaka, and might be burned a bit if he becomes Mr. MRI tube. Guys who haven't played in the majors are certainly going to be a little bit of a gamble, but this kid is 19, and the Yanks are unlikely to get a talented player like that in the draft for many moons.
Unless... they are laying in the weeds and hoping to field an old team for the next few years to get mid round draft picks. Diabolical!
I'm with (3) on this. Let's get some damn position players.
Well that's different; if Cashman wanted him and Hal wouldn't budge on a few million, the question obviously has to be why. are the Steinbrenners that worried about money or did their front office screw up their operating budgets that badly?
I hope it works for cc. If he could regain even some of his proper form (unintended pun hee hee) that would be huge (ZOMG).
Stupid sox got Moncada.
Anybody have an inkling when the Yankees cost-saving plans will help them contend again?

The third baseman (or whatever he is now) has something to do with all of it.
Six weeks to baseball!
[5] Whoa.
Damn, I wanted him. But, that is a shitload of money.
