Not much doing for the Bombers today. They did let Garrett Jones go, which is a drag cause I always liked him–my ideal of what the average Elmore Leonard hero looks like.
Yanks in Chicago tonight.
Jacoby Ellsbury CF
Chris Young LF
Alex Rodriguez DH
Mark Teixeira 1B
Carlos Beltran RF
Chase Headley 3B
John Ryan Murphy C
Brendan Ryan 2B
Didi Gregorius SS
Let’s hope they get back in the groove.
Never mind the deadline:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
Was wondering why crew folk were quoting Rowdy Roddy Piper movies today. He was more cartoony live than the Saturday morning cartoon version of him. I'll miss that.
He came here to chew some bubblegum and kick ass.
[1] Bummer. Who can forget his tour de force in Hell Comes to Frogtown. I've got a soft spot for bad movies.
(1). Motherfucker really rocked a skirt.
[4] thot's a kilt ya bloody Limey! Ya know why ta sun never set on ta British Empire? Cuz God himself would na trust an Englishman in ta dark!
WOw!!!
Fucking TEIX!!!!
DAMN!!!!!
He keeps hitting it out to dead center, too.
Jesus.
I can't believe I'm stuck here at Jones Beach watching Marilyn Manson. Would rather be watching Ed Whitson.
A diaper change turned a 2-0 lead to 6-0. Holy shit!
I haven't followed the game, packing up to depart Lake a Gaston by ten am (too early when on vacation) Nice.
Harvey's retired the first 15 in a row. Collins better not let him throw 130 pitches.
Never mind, there's a hit.
I'm stuck at a Phish concert...
Damn. That would have been a sick play.
Throw the Modamn ball,Headley! For fuck's sake!
Motherfucker is on FIRE.
My God, this is incredible.
Jesus freaking Teix.
Unreal.
I know, right?
What are we watching?? I thought that guy disappeared years ago.
TEX!!
Can't wait to see highlights.
WHO ARE THESE GUYS?
I want double digits!!
Double digits just in time for thelarmis!
There we go!
Jake is due. I hope he at least gets us to a dozen
Tex has 41 multi-homer games. Breaks a tie with Chipper for 2nd most amongst switch-hitters, behind some guy named Mantle.
He's homered from both sides of the plate 14 times, breaking a tie with Swish for most of all-time.
Badass!
I hope Eo is alright after the long frame.
A-Rod on bass yet again!
I'm stuck at a Phish concert...
BLASPHEMER!!!
I like toasting the other team's bullpen in the first game of a series.
Wow.
[27] That's a tasty looking set list so far, btw.
Tex with another XBH!!!
Ha! I knew that would draw cult out! What's up, buddy?
I was playing on the earlier comment about being stuck at Marilyn Manson show.
Not much. How you doing? How's the show?
Saw the LA Forum show about a week ago, it was pretty fantastic.
Damn, went downstairs to help my roomie and it was 1-0, come back to this?
Anybody else super excited for Severino?
And there's yer dozen.
That's HEADLEY!
That's a dozen! Let's make it a baker's!
A-Rod with 4 runs scored!
I'm good. Lots going on...
I still want that baker's dozen!
Wow.
Hell of a play from JR.
Dammit! Tesh should have had a couple more there.
The Ackley Era begins.
way too many pitches for Eo.
i'd like for this to remain a good run diff game...
damn. now i want 15 runs so we can have +10 run diff.
blow jays walked off...
I'm ready for it to be over, honestly.
alex and tex each on base 5 times tonight. 6 runs and 7 rbi between them.
[45] i hear ya.
ack.
[41] I thought we were passed the Ken Phelps, Tony Womack, Dustin Ackley era. Those two guys they gave up had life, spunk. I don't want to mix up the names but either Flores or Ramirez did some great things in his brief up of coffee this year.
Ackley is a 240 hitter, who will never be a Tex type 240 hitter. I HATE this move. HATE IT. HATE IT. HATE IT.
laroche on the mound for the pale hose.
let's get that run diff back to double digits!!
drew couldn't get a hit...
La Lob!
11 pitches = 3 outs for LaRoche.
struck out ryan with high "heat"!
I'd say that if you can't quite remember who it was you were getting angry over, they're probably not worth getting angry over.
Here's the RAB write up on the two Yankees going the other way:
Flores, 23, made his MLB debut earlier this year and stood out more for his glove than his bat in 12 games. He is hitting .286/.377/.417 (113 wRC+) with seven homers in 73 Triple-A games this year. Flores has a classic left-handed platoon outfielder’s profile, a Seth Smith type, and he’ll have a much greater opportunity for playing time in Seattle. I would not at all be surprised to see him carve out a long career as a useful role player.
The 25-year-old Ramirez has been up and down a few times the last two years, allowing eleven runs on 17 hits and eleven walks in 13 big league innings. Yikes! He’s struck out a dozen. Ramirez has a 2.90 ERA (2.70 FIP) with 26.7 K% and 11.0 BB% in 49.2 Triple-A innings this year. He has superb stuff — at his best, Ramirez sits mid-90s and gets swings and miss with both his changeup and slider — but his command is spotty and his injury history is ugly.
[36] I've been saying that all season whenever Headley's name is mentioned
End Italics!
Another Try
Uh oh, my bad
run diff +7
Are you home already, nostra?
How was the show?
[59] i am. it was good. rift and reba were both amazing.
the venue was only like 10 minutes from my house...
free tickets, taboot taboot!! (free parking also)
Nice. You got a nice set list. Martian Monster! (I got one of those to kick off the LA show).
God bless YouTube, I'll probably be able to give the show a listen tomorrow.
Did you go with your wife?
[61] i did. she had a blast.
Her 1st Phish show?
[63] nope. she's a phan. she's a northern california girl and quite familiar with these types of shows and festivals.
met a coupla friends at the show tonight. i had a coupla other there that i didn't get to see...
I see. So, she went to the show and you went along and checked the Yankees' score?
;)
When you headed out this way again?
[65] exactly!!!
my childhood best friend came to town for the shows. he phollows the band. he left us free tickets.
i love the band, but don't really love the scene and can't deal with the smoke. so, yeah, i followed the yanks! : )
