Wildcard and even division title still open out west. Angels win early, Dbacks win late we have a tie and the Rangers still in play. They are sure of a wildcard but not winning the division. Root for long games and Joe Girardi like pitching changes.
I was rooting hard for an Astros loss last night. The D-Backs put up five runs, but Houston scored 21.
The Texans haven't scored 21 yet this year.
Cold and raining here so I have an excuse for not doing yard work.
Get him in
Pathetic
Man, it is hard to get excited about this particular game.
Too bad I have no interest in college football.
Bleh
Not much juice to this one.
Modammit.
Christ on a cracker. Yankees are going to lose.
Jesus Christ, Sheeve. WTF?!
I smell an Earl Weaver Special coming for Crush...
Fucking bollocks
No playoff pitching for Chasen.
An out!
Run-scoring wild pitch - really? Walks. No real velocity. He's been brutal lately.
Jeez, what an unsightly mess.
A run
A second one
And that's all.
A-Rod striking out way too often recently.
Jeebus
Of fucking course.
O's making hitting look easy...
To blatantly steal from another poster
"An interesting scenario to consider: The Yankees can actually clinch home field in the WC game if TEX loses their last two games. If HOU wins their next two, they will play TEX in one game playoff to determine the winner of the AL west, and the loser will be at least a half game behind the Yankees. In fact this might be ideal because the losing team will have to play on Monday so they'll have less rest going into the WC game."
My question, does a playoff game for the division count as part of the regular season record?
Swing, Brett, swing
....not like that!
Awful game, at least they got it in. Let's have the regulars tonight!
It's hard to win both games of a double header
It's hard to win both games of a double header
It's hard to win both games of a double header
I'm just going to keep that in mind. Hope they get the second game in.
[24] Regular season everything counts.
And of course Texas wins.
Angels with 4 in 9th to tie Texas at 10. Yee-haw.
5 in the 9th. Fuck off Texas.
Once more, with feeling
What a wretched night for baseball. Yuck.
Been like that here all day. Had to take the dogs to the park this am though.
Damn it!
Right down the chute is right. An out would be nice.
Motherfucker.
Fucking shit
Got one back
Fucking miserable fucking shits.
Balls!
Must fucking score here. Multiple times.
There's one
Fail.
Ouch, that hurt
Ouch.
Wow.
Tied up!
Make em pay McCann!
Shit
Another wasted opportunity
If there's a stat for teams based on most runners LOB, I bet Yanks are on top.
HR time, Slade
Chase one!
2 more LOB
What. The. Hell. Just. Happened?
Out!
2 outs. Need 5 walks in a row.
Scherzer has a no no through 7. Only a sixth inning error.
I would like to win this one.
It seems possible, and it would be gratifying.
Thelarmis, if you had been around when the Yankees won their 10,000th game, I was going to point out that it didn't mean they had won all 10,000 in one season.
Wow.
So a rocky start turns into a good game for Severino.
Good on Luis.
Max through eight
I'd like a couple of runs, please.
Weak sauce
Nope.
One down for Max. Last eight are all Ks.
Two and nine for Max
I hope the os are as inept as the Yankees with a guy on 3rd.
Of course.
Max does it!
Brutal.
And I switch back to this crapfest
what a bunch o' fucking bullshit.
more wild pitches.
two no-no's for max this season!
17 k's. damn.
[63] ha! yeah, i figured you would. a friend of mine put up a facebook post about the 10,000 wins and a commenter said something similar.

my roku feed is slow, so i'm guessing something bad happens...
[85] pickoff perhaps?
This does not bode well for the next few days. Good night.
Motherfucking God damn this mother fucking God damn bullshit!

pathetic.
[87] yup.
houston is up 3-0.
Night all.
Lame. Fucking lame.
I read the thread imagining yous guys were talking about the food and service at a once famous restaurant.
Just as indigestible as this season. Let's see if the dessert saves it. Do we want British style, cheese and fruit, or American pie? Coffee is a must….especially for this team of geriatrics.
It's been a long season. I guess this team overachieved all year. Also, the value of Tex cannot be denied. Since the all star break, the Yankees run producers have been in monumental slumps: Gardner, Ellsbury, Arod, McCann. DiDi has cooled off, Chase is still an enigma, only Beltran has been a consistent hitter the second half, but he no longer has the athleticism to be effective in the other stuff. The pitching has been overall ok, and one cannot expect flawless pitching winning every low scoring game. The team needs to score 5 or more runs more than occasionally.
But with all that, let's honor the team for hanging in there to play at least two more meaningful games. I mean...with your own eyes as witness, do the Yankees have what it takes to go far in the playoffs? Maybe they can get lucky with some flawless pitching, but that is a lot to ask.
Here are the playoff scenarios with one game left, lifted from The Sporting News, by Nick Canelas.
Thanks to the Angels’ wild comeback win over the Rangers on Saturday, the final day of baseball’s regular season still means something out west.
The Angels, Rangers and the Astros, who beat the Diamondbacks 6-2 Saturday night, will all play on Sunday afternoon with postseason spots on the line. The Rangers, who have already clinched a playoff berth, and Houston are both in contention for the AL West, while the Angels still have a shot at the second wild-card spot.
Here’s the simple breakdown: Texas wins the division with either a win or an Astros loss. Houston clinches a postseason berth with a win over the Diamondbacks or an Angels loss.
However, an Angels win – regardless of Astros’ result – opens up multiple tie-breaking scenarios that would be sorted out in a play-in game Monday. An LA win and Houston win moves the Astros into a tie with the Rangers atop the AL West, while a Houston loss coupled with an Angels win moves those two teams into a tie for the second wild-card spot.
Here’s out the tiebreakers shake out:
What happens if the Astros and Angels tie for the wild card?
The Astros would host the Angels in a tiebreaker Monday thanks to a 10-9 season-series win. The winner would play the Yankees in New York in Tuesday’s wild-card game.
What happens if the Rangers and Astros tie for the AL West?
The Rangers would host the Astros in a tiebreaker Monday thanks to a 13-6 season-series win. The winner advances to the ALDS while the loser plays the Yankees in Tuesday’s wild-card game.
What happens if the Rangers and Astros tie, and the Yankees finish with the same record?
Sunday is also an important day for the Yankees. New York would finish at 87-75 with a loss to the Orioles, giving them the same record as the Astros and Rangers. Both AL West squads won the season series over the Yankees, meaning the loser of Monday’s game would host Tuesday’s wild-card game.
[98] My head hurts after reading that. I will be very surprised if Yanks get into ALDS, regardless of opponent or venue. Great summary Boyer!
