Yanks are stopping people from buying cheap tickets on Stub Hub. Their explanation? "“The problem below market at a certain point is that if you buy a ticket in a very premium location and pay a substantial amount of money. It’s not that we don’t want that fan to sell it, but that fan is sitting there having paid a substantial amount of money for a ticket and [another] fan picks it up for a buck-and-a-half and sits there, and it’s frustrating to the purchaser of the full amount.”
[2] Well yeah, that is elitist as hell. But that's pretty much whom they built the new stadium for. What Trost and company fail to understand in my point of view is that those same elites they desire to appease don't necessarily want to go to a Yankee game every day or every other day; they have other elite things to do. Especially if the performance is not elite on the field or back pages. But then again, maybe they don't care and are mainly operating as a giant business and little more than that. Trost is not there for the baseball side of things, after all.
I thought the one percent believed in free enterprise?
The Yankees already built that wall on their interior border, they're just fortifying it.
Being a Yankeed fan is fraught with inconsistencies and sometimes a moral dilemma. But this type of attitude expressed by Trost and the team is the new norm in our society. Is there a baseball league in New Zealand?
I agree, but that's because many people let it become that way. I would venture to say complacency is the common denominator. On the other hand, how do we define progress; or is the real question WHO defines progress?
Supposed to hit 50 here tomorrow.

Trost then added a comment that raised eyebrows on social media because of its seemingly elitist undertones. “And quite frankly,” he said, “the fan may be someone who has never sat in a premium location. So that’s a frustration to our existing fan base.”
