Yanks are down in Tampa—at their very own house of horrors—for the weekend. Hey, at least it’s got air-conditioning.
Never mind the bloomin’ onions:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!

Had to turn on the AC here. If it were just me, I wouldn't, but the hounds were dragging. Hope the bats get hot.
Lead off hits are always welcome
Wasted opportunity
Looky what Dustin found
Archer is my bitch. 18 for 26 .692
Jeez. Boo me
Now score some runs
High strike, blue
Didi safe safe!
Rats, a hit
And now a WP
Tanaka!
Outstanding catch, Brett!
Hey Team. They gotta get to Archer.
Upstairs toilet flooded last night while we were sleeping. Right through to the kitchen light fixture below. Good excuse to watch the game while waiting for Roto Rooter.
The property management company has been putting band aids on this faulty crapper for years and they're grilling us about what we did to make it happen. Sheesh.
[14] oh man, that sucks.
I once had an apartment that flooded a lot. Their solution was drain cleaner. They should have gotten a clue the 3rd time it wasn't a clogged drain, but more likely roots in the pipes. Property manager was sheepish when I gave notice.
Woo-hoo!
Gotta score here
Oh crap, Carlos on first, DP coming up
Not every day that you see a batter reach first safely (on a ball in play) and Brett doesn't score from third!
Thank God for shoddy defense!
gifts!
Alex go boom!
That's what I'm talkin' about.
Damn, Castro threw him out
[19] this game has featured a lot of unusualness. Unassisted putout by Tanaka between second and third. With basically three errors last inning the Yankees almost scored only one until Alex bombed. All three runs given up by Archer unearned.
Not used to a meat handed team in Tampa.
Really nice play by Starlin Vocal Band.
Phew, got out of that
Tanaka is a well trained athletic fielder.
[27] I have to admit that I was thinking, "if they score one run it's no problem".
Can't think like that. I mean, taking No-Run DMC for granted.
[29] I'm all in favor of insurance. Even Chapman can give up a run
Tanaka was one of the smartest acquisitions Cashman ever made.
81 pitches for Tanaka. MC for the 8th & 9th? Maybe no extra day of rest needed?
Dang, Carlos!
That's insurance. Nice.
Carlos go boom!
[15] Thanks. Landlady is my wife's aunt. But she's clueless. Defers everything to the property management company, who we just call directly. It's a bit of a pickle.
[30] You called it. More BOOM!
Carlitos! Arod broke the seal, maybe they both continue? That was the first earned run for Archer. He's a good still young arm.
Good recovery, Andrew.
Blech
Taylor Motter, an Allman Brothers kin?
Hm.
Andrew is a bit wild.
Better.
Okay.
Hm, I don't think Aroldis should be squandered on this game, honestly. Let some scrub have a shot.
Kirby time
Yep.
Good call!
I feel like Joe is doing a pretty good job this year.
One down
[44] he must be if he agrees with you..
Don't like seeing Chapman up
Two down
Well, he's just Kirby Yates.
World's easiest Save for Aroldis?
Whelp, there's the shutout. Insurance is a good thing.
Pierce was not going to be denied. No worries, insurance was purchased. Must Chapman always get in the game in a save situation?
You'd make a great insurance salesman.
[52] Not what I'd do, therefore...
I'm your good neighbor!
Unbelievable.
We have to come up with a good insurance theme. Maybe. Alex could monetize it. All insurance companies invited to bid.
Another oddity for this game. It would be cool if he came in for a one-out save and struck out two...
And indeed he does!
Very cool.
Three down! One more to back to .500
Night all
Nice win, great start by Tanaka! Enjoy the long weekend.
Beautiful.
