Winners and Losers

Hey, Alex Rodriguez got an at bat last night, and just got under a pitch and flew out to right field. Man, you could see how frustrated he was having just missed it. And that might be as close to getting a hit as he comes—just missing a pitch, feeling that frustration. You never know. He is supposed to start tonight and then again tomorrow but something tells me that we are definitely going to see him again in the spring somewhere else.

Anyhow, the  Yanks lost on Tuesday but they pounded the Sox last night and hell, anytime the Yanks can irritate the Sox it feels like a good thing, am I right?

You are right...on both accounts:

Irritating the shit sox and seeing Alex in spring training.

Sign me up for both!!

Alex's MLB contract is being converted into essentially a personal services contract for 2017. If he opts out of that to play for another team, doesn't that void the contract. Now if he wants to give up $20 million to try to DH or PH for another team, best of luck, but I don't think he will.

I watched last night. Man, I don't remember seeing a sox game where their pitching went completely off the rails. Ha. Fuck them. Some guys on tv this morning were taking about poor weather in the Bronx tomorrow. That would be "So Alex." Having his last game rained out. oi!
And how about this Gary Sanchez kid? Holy shit. He came oh so close to knocking his blast completely outta Fenway. In center! Awesome.

I think Gary Sanchez should have been playing sooner. My gosh imagine the angst if he had replaced that fellow earlier. See I didn't mention his name.

I was watching the interview during the game between ARod and Sutcliff, and he said something to the effect to ARod that he hadn't had that many at bats consistently, and brought up a stretch of 1 month, where ARod was batting and hit .270. You could see ARod nodding and it made me think that ARod will be back. Sutcliff also intimated that something happened behind the scenes with ARod and there is more going on. He should have started last night. You can't fault the outcome as the Yanks won, but are they really going to hop over 4 other teams to catch the wild card? I also hoped the Yanks would bat around in that big inning and ARod would get another AB. Later, when big papi fouled a ball off his foot and needed to be assisted off the field, the wheels were turning. ARod/Red Sox? Just kidding, and I hope Papi is ok.

(3) (4) Yes, Sanchez first homer was a no doubter. The force is strong in Sanchez. I can't help but wonder what the team may have looked like if they gave Russell Martin even 1/2 of the cheese that they gave to McCann, and he could be handing the reins over to Sanchez right now. Instead the Yanks will need to eat a lot of money to move McCann or move him to first.

Sucks about Eovaldi. That guy gives hope and then takes it away. He reminds me so much of AJ Burnett. So much talent but just can't harness it and some injuries too.

Didi had a nice solo shot in the game too. With a few SS in the mix in the minors, they seem to be lighting a fire under Didi.

[2] I'm not entirely positive, but I believe Alex gets his money from the Yankees and is free to do whatever he wants. If he signs with another team, they would pay the minimum salary or prorated portion depending when it happens. If he does suit up for another club this year or next, he'll still collect the greens from he Steinbrothers.

I hope he plays and reaches 700!

it definitely seems like something happened behind the scenes the past month or so...

7) It stands to reason that with all the time that ARod has been healthy and on the bench, that he could have hit four more dingers and collected 6 million more dollars from the Yanks. Sure, they have $ to burn, but I think they realized that he wasn't going to be as productive as the year prior and a lot would have to break right for this team to win.

Maybe the idea being twofold. They get out of paying 6 mil and also get to help protect Ruth's legacy a bit?

It is also possible that ARod chirped at Joe G. and he is the one simply not playing him.

Jeter played despite the #'s but also had a position in the field and no better option to play in his place.
