Could be the last game of the year, period. But at least the Yanks have lived to see another day, even if it is tonight.
I couldn’t believe Volpe’s base running gaffe last night. I bellowed and moaned and threw myself off the couch in despair. And then he goes and hits that homer, turns a single into a (lucky) double, steals third, and then beats a throw home on a grounder to second. I’d say a good way to make up for that mistake. Happy for the kid.
Hoping for more good things tonight.
Never mind oblivion:
Let’s Go Yank-ees!
Mariano Duncan said it best. Cole's going to be lights out and the Dodger fans will lose a little confidence after tonight.
I have to believe. I have to. It took 100 years for a team to overcome a 3-0 deficit but Boston did it. Why not us? [It took nearly 40 years for a 16-seed to beat a 1-seed in the NCAA tournament but after UMBC did it against UVA in 2018, it only took 5 years for it to happen again -- it's all about seeing what's possible and believing. And I believe the Yankees have won 4 in a row before].
[1] What he said.
Hey, I’ve watched Neil and Buzz walk on the moon, the White Sox, Red Sox, and Cubs win Whirled Seriouses, so why not.
Just win tonight.
Hi, we get this one more game! Yay! Go Yankees!
We play tonight, we win tonight.
Drill freeman. That's what's what.
Thatsit.
[1] Here, here! Let's go Yankees!
Yay Freeman is out
The ace looked great in the first inning. thelarmis, for your request: so far, so good!
That's how you pitch the first, thanks Gerrit
Beautiful job, GC!
[9] Cole looks locked in!
[12] Now we need the offense to do it's part.
Our Captain is back!!!!!
ALL RISE!
All rise!!!
Soto on, of course!
Now’s the time, very large man
TATER!!!! All Rise!!!!
[2][7] here here
JUDGE!!!!
All rise!
All rise!
Hell yeah!
JAZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!
Belly to belly
Jazz!!!!
Flaherty got nothing tonight, keep bashing
JAZZ!!!
Jazz baby!
All that Jazz!
APPROVED!
Jazz homer was Didi-esque!
Damn. Wish he didn’t recover on that fall
[27] I really thought the fourth pitch to G was also a ball. Now he's gone 2 balls to Rizzo.
[34] And Rizzo swung at ball 3 inside.
What an electric smile Jazz just flashed in the dugout!
[35] And at ball 4! C'mon Rizzo, don't let him get you.
[35] And then at ball 4
And then looks at strike 3 ... gah
crap. we need a shutdown inning and then continue to pile on
Cole!
Well hello Mr Judge.
Just tuned in. Nice start to the game.
Gerrit!
[44] All business tonight.
Great job, Gerrit!
Ok that’s two innings down!
[40] I thought that Cole was pulled too early in game one. But tonight, let’s hope the home team pours it on big time, and Cole gets to leave early, rest up, and be ready to help clinch it in game seven!
I approve of this start.
Now keep piling on. You can never have too many runs.
MOAR PLZ!
The Bronx has a new hero.
Nice, AV!!
Now, steal third. That’s your thing.
Plate him!!!
Volpe at it!
Must score him
If there is a single with Volpe on third I might faint.
Verdugoooooh!
Someone bring Ara his couch!
A manufactured run!
The other AV!
4-zip!!!!
Verdugo! Go GO!
Hallelujah!
Let’s wreck their good pen
[62] Here, here!!
C'mon Juan
Me no likey that
Bad gleyber. He’s been so good so it’s ok.
Dougie!
Nice. Score him, Soto
Do it again, Cap
Sigh
Do it again, Jazz
Rats!
Frick
Alas
I like the heart. The result, not so much.
It appears my posts are coming from the future ...
/thinking emoji
I think I read somewhere that momentum isn't real or measurable. But after seeing this series it sure seems real. Maybe it's just shifting from unconfident to confident. It happened yesterday with Volpe's homer. We can finish today and win game 6
Yeah, Gerrit!
[77] Who was it that said that momentum is tomorrow's starting pitcher? Do I have that right?
D'oh! Mistake #1.
Ack. I was hoping for perfection the first time through the lineup
Momentum is only as good as your next day’s starting pitcher.
Ok, good. Now, more runs, please!
Keep dealing Cole! Keep dealing.
Nice job Cole!
Keep Ohtani contained
Nice! 35 pitches. 3 shutout innings. Roll, Cole.
FRANK SMASH!
STANTONIAN how lovely!
Rip, Rudy May. Had the misfortune to pitch for non WS winning Yankees teams.
Stantonian! Didn't think he was gonna be left out, did ya?
BIG G!!!
Now we just need Soto to join the Homer party.
Let's keep piling on boys!
[92] Halfway to your requested number of runs, my friend!
Grrrrrrr.....
And they hold the runner. Judge!
Judge with the leather!
He's baaaack.
DON'T INJURE THE JUDGE GERRIT!
Amazing.
Judge!! Be OK Be OK!
What a catch!
[100] Indeed!!
[95] that'd be amazing!
cool. i don't love the leadoff walk and hard contact.
score more runs!
Phew
Oooh, Kopech already. And he also is throwing lots of balls.
Pretty sure that was ball 4, ump.
Let's hope Roberts managing for next Tuesday's game is just the recipe.
nice to see we're not the only team to issue a leadoff walk to the 9-hole hitter!
come ON, gleyber. : /
Here come the Judge!
soto's is sooo fucking good!
So close.
fuuuuuuuck!
i totally thought he had it...
Too high. Oooof.
I thought that was gone
damn. there goes the no-no. and it's a leadoff hit... : (
best thing to do is roll a 2-ball on the first pitch here...
oh no. wtf? and not much urgency on the throw. : /
Oops, Judge?
Turrible.
Omg took his eye off of it
Let's go Gerrit!
Oh for fucking fucks sake.
Uh oh
oh my fucking goodness. bad throw
Oh. This Yankees team again.
Oh no back to bad defense
this is fucking ridiculous. cole is making his pitches...
Focus boys, we're good. Do this.
Ok, Cole. K and DP.
fuck you, blue!
Ohtani is finally going to homer, isn't he?
There’s the K.
Yeah, Gerrit!!
[136] no. no, he is not.
I’ll take that K.
YEAH, COLE!!!
one more.
Wow. 1 more.
What the fuck?
WHAT THE FUCK??????
Jesus
I don't care how much Judge loves him. What the absolute fuck is Anthony Rizzo doing on this team?! How many brainless errors can one first baseman make in a single World Series?!?!
Pitchers fielding practice
Jesus Fucking Christ
That’s Cole’s job to cover.
great. now, freddie's gonna tie the fucking game.
[146] That was on Cole.
No words.
rizzo should have charged. cole should have covered.
judge should have caught the ball. volpe should have thrown the ball better.
Fundamentals are on Boone and the coaches
goddamn fucking hell.
will he even pitch the 6th?
Blood pressure is rising. And I finally had it under control.
Depressing. We should be up 5-0 still
Cole was tired from carrying the inning on his back. Fuck this inning.
[154] Agree - and pretty sure the veteran first baseman, in there for his glove, when he sees the runner hard charging down the line needs to get his ass to first and quick.
C'mon Cole, get them!
here comes pitch 29 of this inning.
Yikes. The players' coach strikes again.
[156]
Cole should, not a better option.
What a fucking disgraceful inning
MOTHERFUCKER.
This can not be happening.
Fuckity fuck fuck.
The Yankees thought they were already on the flight back to LA ... inexcusable
Unfuckingbelievable. No words.
This is un-good. And surely Boone will go into panic mode.
Wait I had to step away for work…how is it tied???
un-fucking-believable.
now a 3-0 count.
not one mound visit.
Jazz should make that play too. It's difficult but not that difficult. Cole may not beat out the hit anyway, but Judge and Jazz fucked the Yankees big time.
All season, Mike Axisa has written about the Yankees' shoddy defense and lack of fundamentals. Sometimes I wondered if it was really that bad. He was right, I was wrong.
this is beyond awful.
now, a walk. they've turned the lineup over.
unfathomable.
The fifth inning is just tough for this team, especially the pitcher.
Omg the ‘defense’….inexcusable
[175] i subscribe to the RAB Thoughts on Patreon too. been meaning to ask if anyone else here did too!
cannot give them the lead. just fucking can't.
So much for Cole going 8 solid innings. Judge fucked up. Volpe fucked up. And Cole fucked up. I fault Cole the least. Goddamn Fucking Bollocks!
I’m resigned to whatever happens. Go Yankees! Game is even. We can do this!
zero of the runs were earned. not that it matters...
[179] I thought about it. Reading tires me though so I limit it. I don’t think I’d read the content if I did back.
the momentum switch will leave us deflated. they'll celebrate on our field... :_(
Brutal defense, just brutal.
[184] i understand.
[171] sloppiness on fundamental defense.
It’s as bad as situational hitting, or the lack thereof.
[175] It's the cornucopia of shitty, too ... bad defense, bad baserunning, bad base coaching ... absolutely awful with RISP ... they should have been out of sight in this game, but nope ... shitty situational hitting FTW!
[188] Great minds, rbj!
WTF was Boone thinking?
Even a JV basketball coach knows you call time to interrupt a heater by the opponent.
Someone find the keys to the score truck.
Shitty, jumpy at bat from Frank there.
Boone is not ready for prime time. Never will be.
i get the feeling that type of at-bat will be all we'll see the rest of the game...
[181] if Cole gets his act together, that is if he is allowed to go back out, I would ride him as long as possible. He's probably cooked for the rest of the series now even if somehow they stumble to a game seven. Of course I know that goes against the current 80+ pitch limit mantra.
Rizzo is a ‘leader’, but a zero on O & now D..?
hung up too long...
[190] Thanks.
This reminds me of the 1990s Rangers and Twins teams the Yankees used to beat up.
cole might be coming back out. keep the line moving to give him a bit more rest
Yikes!
oh, fuck. and, fuck you, roberts.
Hope he is ok.
For love of all fucking things baseball, try a hit with risp. I'm not holding my breath.
Ah, shit ... that looked UGLY
I don't think wrists are supposed to do that
[196] I don't recall if Cole has ever relieved before in the majors anyway, so I agree. He goes as long as possible.
don't make an out.
mlb app about two pitches ahead
not sure where to look...
come on gleyber!
PLEASE
Dear Gleyber.
Take A pitch!
[207] Ask and ye shall receive!
Now it is time for Gleyber to get his first hit of the night. I know it sucks and we are all dejected, but - it's the bottom of the 5th and this is Gleyber's fourth plate appearance.
USELESS!
:_(
The #RISPFAIL is strong with this team.
Unreal
Oh, dear ... this had better be batter-to-batter
[197] Actually he's been contributing on O and the misplay was not his fault. Cole HAS to cover first there. Even injured Riz is important to this team.
The Judge goof seemed to set everything askew. It was a Little League play. Reminded me of A-Rod dropping the infield pop against the Angels.
[215] Bottom of the lineup has me less worried.
Cmon Cole, let’s roll through the bottom of the order here.
And crap, I have to drive mom to a 9 am Dr. appointment.
That’s what you get when parents age out of driving
[216] Wow, your words immediately brought that one to mind.
Nice job, Cole!
Ok Calvin, shove that mitt in Mookie’s face if he tries to catch anything near you.
(Too much…?)
i approve and accept that swinging strikeout
It's mind FUCKING BOGGLING that this game should still be 5-0. Ya' just can't predict baseball, Suzyn.
get him out here
[221] Mildly questionable but also amusing, particularly in the circumstances.
Well done, Cole!
Badass Cole, can’t blame him too much for that inning (which btw, watching in replay, is one of the worst innings I can remember…)
Haha. Soto didn't want Judge dropping another ball.
good catch soto
judge needs to make up for beyond ridiculous error.
Good inning but Soto waving off Judge is not the most confidence inspiring turn of events.
[229] but he needs to be relaxed and focused so please Judge don’t press because of the error!
[231] Amen to that!
What was that?!
Lean into one, Stein!
[230] He got Kelly Leaked.
Geritol is on the mound. Hit him hard.
OK Judge, let's go.
soto on base, per usual!
Lead off walk. Take advantage.
Graterol sounds like a medicine for people who can’t process shredded cheese.
i'll take it.
let's go Jazz & G!
LFG!
We'll take it. C'mon, Jazz!
[239] HA!
That was close.
Patience, dude. Patience!
Jazz swinging at literally everything.
A bunt?! On the gas this guy throws?
Why are you bunting down 0-1??
oy vey
Not a good AB by Jazz….
Choke up Jazz, poke one through
Proof that Jazz CAN swing too much.. (rimshot)
please no dp. steal second.
Let's go G!
do it again, G
Gets the run in!! And Jazz is safe!
Steal second. G, take one or two.
Interesting.
Gets a run in.
nice, jazz. we're winning!
tenuous 1-run lead
plate him, tony.
Good thing I'm drinking tonite ... this game, people ... this game.
I don’t hate that call. Jazz is fast enough to get to second the vast majority of the time. If anything, Soto needs to know to run hard to home rather than jog.
[262] cheers! i can't tonight, but i plan on Thurs/Fri/Sat!
[262] I meant to have a drink and I was too caught up in the first inning and so never did. Now I'm not sure if that was lucky or not.
Hit a strike.
come on, kid. do it again, AV
[265] I didn't think to last night and had a big dinner. then realized, i could have a few beers ... so i did! : )
Wait ... nobody is warming in the Yankees pen right now????
But Tim FUCKING HILL was warming up prior to that????
Soto ain't perfect, but ain't perfect is still worth an armored car.
I’m partaking tonight. And tomorrow for our Halloween block party. Then onto my usual dry November, so any games in LA this weekend will be dealt with via copious amounts of pacing and seltzer.
I had such a restful, not stressful month of October last year. I had good sleep and everything. lol....
[268] good pivot!
I mean Boone-y DOES realize that if they lose, they're done, right???
More! Come on Volpe.
[273] thanks!
Send Jazz on 2-0?
[269] yeah, i was like: HUH?!
That’s a ball!!
[271] enjoy! i just took two months off. not by choice. glad to be back!
really, blue???
Fail.
frick frick.
9 more outs
Weak ass oppo field grounder. Ugh.
[274] I would not assume this.
Cole…? Aggressive…….
Cole was fucking LOCKED IN game 1 and lifted after what....89 pitches. And now he's good to go after 100+ and a 38 pitch clusterfuck of an inning. Kids are raised to think adults know what they are doing. They do not.
I don't get it.
Let's go Gerrit. One more!
[286] Cole out for the 7th ... you maybe be right about the Hobgoblin
Volpe came to play
whew
Ara Just Fair: looking for consistency or logic with Booney is looney :)
Well in fairness, the Yankees have been in the bottom third in errors every year but one under Boone. So he's teaching the kids that mistake happen.
where was that D in the 5th?
At LEAST there is double barreled action in the pen.
C'mon Gerrit ... one more out
cole vs. frederick. again?
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts my aunt would be my uncle.
This shoulda been a complete game shutout for the ages.
nice play by the ball girl?
that was hit HARD
Gerrit in the 8th. Why not? He's not pitching again.
Jesus. A Walk?
crap.
that's it...
Job (mostly) well done, GC ... go pound some Budweiser.
That was a ball? FU, blue.
[301] His tank hit E
This crowd needs to shake that stadium for Cole right now.
Blue has been less than stellar over these five games.
holmes vs. teo the grouch
cole opts out and we pick up the extra year
[308] I don't like that match-up.
[307] Last night was ok, mostly; the rest... ((puking face emoji))
can't throw a fucking strike.
Ah, the Clay Holmes Experience
4
Straight
Balls
Take him out.
fucking awful.
Not digging Holmes here.
Here come 4 more.
5 straight balls. FUCK
If you need a four pitch walk, I could do that much more fckn cheaply!
put cole back in
Really don’t like Holmes here
Overthrowing. No clue. Coin flip for a strike.
[320] LOL, yes.
Umpires are making the adoption of the ABS really freaking easy.
ridiculous. fucking terrible
Got him!!!
Wow.
Approve.
Phew
phew and whew!
no more clay today
Jeebus. Saved it, barely.
[330] Tommy Tightpants for the 8th, Dream Weaver for the 9th.
we need 6 more outs.
let's get some more runs. like, lots of them.
Well, Boone-y stole an inning there, I’ll give him that.
I'm sure glasses that record your friends will be a huge hit.
[332] that works for me!
Walking Freeman and Hernandez. Not bad moves.
Bring on the truck that scores. Plz
Holmes gives me some anxious Nelson vibes.
Some runs please ... maybe ones that involve some RISP SUCCESS?
Nelson is ‘96 Mo/Wetteland compared to Holmes.
More like Every Day Scott Proctor on day six in a row.
[341] knuckles you're bringing out the hits - EDSP!
OK, now compare Holmes to Tanyon Sturtze.
I’d like to recall that they didn’t use Strurtze in such high leverage situations, but honestly if I’d had a heart attack before I turned thirty, you could ascribe equal blame to palpitations from my impending marriage and the too-frequent appearances of TS.
[335] Sometimes I wonder if anyone stops to ask basic questions like, do we REALLY want people to be able to easily make surreptitious recordings at any time? I feel like the answer is "no".
Booth completely ignores that Verdugo got hosed. Fuck them.
Would love to see Gleyber launch one.
Well, I’m out. Gotta take mom across the town for morning Dr. appointment
well, that sucked.
we really need a quick 1-2-3 inning.
Shaun, I think not asking or knowing the answers to basic questions is not particularly valuable anymore
[343] I love Joe Torre but my God, did he ever over-rely on some of the most ridiculous relievers. I think he did a lot of things right so I won't say the Yankees won a lot between 2002 and 2007 in spite of Joe, but... sometimes they definitely did.
Ya gotta admit, Cole came up huge after that nightmare inning. Cold as ice.
Fair enough, the Stanton, Nelson, Mo combination was baller for a minute.
[347] good luck with the appt tomorrow, and i hope you wake up to a yankee win!
tommy changeup in. really hope he has it tonight...
[350] Scott Proctor!
let's get the 6-7-8 hitters out in a row. thank you, please!
FUCK
i just don't have a good feeling.
really need a double play
[356] Or heart palpitations. When was the last triple play in a Serious?
you've gotta be kidding me. at least, that great stop kept it first + second
When even John Smoktz knows you gotta mix your pitches, you might want to.
You ain't Tim Wakefield slick, your best pitch ain't that good.
[352] I prefer to remember Nelson as one of the badass 6’4” or taller MF’ers who helped thump Baltimore in that brawl, alongside Lloyd, Straw, Paulie O, etc.
Sigh ... nobody out
Lloyd! Wow. Forgot about him.
A strike that is not hit, if you please.
this is fucking brutal
Never understood the Kahnle love, unless you are Nariano you can’t just throw ONE pitch….
Jesus. Come on!
Take him out now!!
wow. this is the worst.
OK, not great. And don't blame the ump etc etc.
But Kahnle got squeezed terribly on 2 of those pitches, if not more.
Oh well. There's a reason no one has ever gotten to game six I suppose. Boone made it impossible.
I'm going out on a limb here and stating that the Dodgers will NOT fail to score ... they seem to understand the concept of RISP Success.
they're going to celebrate on our field :_(
TV muted. Can’t take anymore.
Petty, REM, U2 etc filling the void.
tv muted. sterling on, so i'm about 2 pitches ahead.
must get a dp. must.
[377] 2 outs in any way, with nothing in between.
Fuckin' Kahnle
wtf?
fucking hell.
Our one year old pup gets very concerned when I watch a play between splayed hands. It’s very comforting- lots of check ins and sniffs. I think our last dog must have been a nihilist or a Houston fan because she didn’t GAF.
more defensive blunders
we are losing. we are going to lose.
Ballgame.
Fuck.
Two innings against a touchable bullpen. Let’s go.
Hey now, it's not over yet. Treinen is tired, they have only bad relievers left after him, and Soto leads off the bottom of the 8th.
Weaver will get the third out.
Who would have guessed hiring a guy with literally no managing experience whatsoever would go poorly.
walker beuhler warming up...
Shaun thanks for the positivity.
And! They have Buehler warming in the bullpen. Roberts and his desperate bullpen moves are never good for the Dodgers.
Weaver got Freeman!
[387] I wanted Meulens, and would have traded Boone for him or Mattingly every day since.
[389] You're welcome, stormer. 6 outs to play with.
treinen vs. soto
wicked spin and soto doesn't look as confident as usual
fuck. it's all on you, judge.
2 errors, failed cover of first, catchers interference, no pitch mix for kahnle...
Treinen has lost the zone.
Covering 1st. Sweet.
Just get on base, baby.
we've also issued 6 walks...
Nice!!!!
yeah, judge!
plate him no matter what
Yes!!!! We got life, Treivax is burnt!!
Go Jazz.
Jazz, wait for him to throw you a meatball.
C'mon, Jazz. You da man!
let's go, jazz!
Walking Jazz doesn't really hurt them.
losing the strike zone
Oh fuxk you ump!!!
I cannot believe the absolute shitty umpiring in the crown jewel of MLB events.
screw you, blue
How do you swing at that 3 and 0???
lets go, G!!!
Must be nice to suck at your job and keep failing upward.
Fuck you, ump. In any event.
He's leaving Treinen in!!!! To face Stanton!!!
No pitching change? Really?
leaving him in
Dammit.
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
deflating : (
OK Rizzo, you owe us.
Come on Rizz!
Take a pitch G
The guy has lost the zone. Geez.
fuck off, ump
Awful swing by Rizzo, he’s not going to get the run in :(
don't hurt your groin, judge.
We are swinging at so many bad pitches.
I know how this is going to end.
That was a pathetic plate appearance.
Horrible AB, not competitive :/
that looked fucking terrible
Wait. They didn't score with a man on 2nd and 1 out? Whoa.
So, I am thinking that getting *hits* with RISP is a good thing. Thoughts?
Season looks to end on a Verdugo ground out. Which would be appropriate
The complete lack of fundamentals on this team astounds me. I've never seen such sloppy defense. This is all about Boone.
15 years between 1981 and 1996.
15 years between 2009 and 2024.
so, maybe we'll be back in 2039...
[436] ugh.
of course they get a leadoff hit... : /
I fucking hate Verdugo. Hated his red pubes beard with Boston and hate his naked mole rat face with NYY. Hate his enthusiasm that outpaces his production by miles. Just go away.
Still not over.
that was a scary loud out
[439] I think you mean verdUGHo
Judge's error ruined this game. An inning after a miraculous catch. Oi.
[441] i hated him from his debut with the dodgers. then taking #99 as the right fielder for the shit sox.
i can't wait for him to be gone next season.
[445] yup.
wow. just wow
sooo fucking STOOPID!!!
that run will *definitely* score now.
And a fuckin balk. Cmon.
Oh, goodie. A balk. Add that to the list of tonight's atrocities.
I imagine Smoltzie and iden-ta-kit play by play guy are blowing the Dodgers now on FOX? Ma & Pa honest about the Yanks failures on D
of course, another walk. why not
Weaver is spent.
I say again, the Yankees have been in the bottom third in defense every year under Boone, but two.
How he gets an extension is beyond me.
Weaver is toasted.
Volpe has looked like he’s about to vomit for four innngs now. Probably no recourse tonight but maybe he comes to Tampa in February and starts effecting some changes.
Boone doesn't play defense.
well, at least i'll have my weekend free to go on date nights with my wife
it's not even that it's a balk. it's that it was because of a third disengagement. how does he not know? just cooked.
the entire team's composure is gone. they look as deflated as i feel...
[457] I would like to read something in December about him working with a private coach on his swing, personally, whatever the outcome of this series.
Hey, your wife still wanting to go on date nights is bigger than winning the world series.
mark leiter, jr and walker buehler will be the last pitchers in this year's world series.
Load the bases, bro.
All right, Leiter! Two down!
Leitwr Jr for most important inning of the year is another example of bad Cashman and Boone
[462] oh yeah. we're both excited about that! : )
Wow.
Let's go indeed!!! It ain't over!!!
nice play, jazz.
good job, mark.
Well ... here we go.
There is a chance!
Martian.
[473] ooh!
Let's Go Yankees!
I will say again, Dave Roberts' use of a starter in relief never goes well for the Dodgers.
Usually it is Kershaw but as he's hurt...
c'mon, kid!
fuck.
I feel like we have played poorly this series, yet we were 2 timely hits away from being up by 1 game.
C'mon other kid!
Sterling not pulling punches at all. ‘Tonight was a disgrace..’
[479] Yes, exactly. Which is both infuriating and sad.
Well that sucked.
and now it will end...
C'mon, Verdugo!
So ... SO appropriate it should end with Verdugout.
over and done. :_(
Well now it is over.
Nice seeing all you folks again, let’s do it next year!
i heard sterling call it and turned off the tv. didn't even see it...
Ok bummer but expected.
[489] YES!
That was an ugly ab. Should have tried the Martian.
Enjoy your off seasons everyone!
So many bad calls at the plate. Can't wait for computerized home plate umpires.
[489] [492] Agreed! The ending was awful but it was so awesome to go through another World Series with you all.
It's just a game, but it still hurts, but it is only a game after all.
Dodgers were better. Our pitching rocked. Our defense was awful as usual.
Boone belongs in AA.
That's it. Great season captain. Sign Soto. Let's be back in 2025.
I have a hard time saying this but since I managed to excise the Giants from my life…I’m done with the NYY until Boone is gone.
You can argue the percentages but ballpark, 50% Boone, 25% players, and 25% roster construction.
I have a sense that it will not be very long until you are back, knuckles.
I appreciated that Boone was a better communicator and better manager of people than Girardi was, but the continual sloppiness falls on both the players AND the manager. After the awful way they blew this game, I cannot see how Boone returns.
In positive news, there are some good candidates out there (Skip Schumaker, for one example).
I believe (from experience) that business progresses along a pendulum, and NYY may have swung too far along the manager-friendly side of the arc. Snapping back may tighten things up a bit.
If it’s any consolation this reminds me of losing to the Reds in 1976. And you all know what happened in ‘77 and ‘78.
Less (information from the) analytics (department)* and more fundamentals
*otherwise lt’s fewer analytics and more fundamentals (and yes, it would bother me.)
