[2] It doesn't matter, and it's not important at all, but it would be nice to see Cervelli get a start. I guess they are keeping Molina fresh for the playoffs.
Molina IS the backup, and may well start vs L.A. if that happens, Jorge DHing, though it is hard to give up Matsui + Posada at the plate for Posada + Molina.
My bet is the Yankees do NOT do that, but I've lost a lot of bets in my time.
[5] yeah, he was supposed to catch and i think bat 6th, but he was scratched due to a stiff neck that he suffered in that stoopid fight with the Blow Jays. : /
I love Pedroia's act. I wonder what he was talking about. He clearly said "all the fuckin' time. It's a fuckin' joke" ... What exactly happens all the time? Is it Sabathia or the ump or what? We'll never know.
[16] I mean, I understand his grievance, it looked a tad outside to me, too, but not so egregiously and *certainly* not in the first with the bases empty.
[18] Oh I agree. I just think it's funny. He obviously has some idea of continuity though, it's like he's being persecuted, or that ump always screws up or Sabathia is getting special treatment or something. It's a conspiracy, the poor guy.
McCarver: "I think someday Cano will win a batting title, that's how good he is."
Umm, didn't he nearly win won that year he hit .340? Or maybe not. I thought he'd nearly won one already. Either way, McCarver makes it sound like some bold prediction.
[48] i'm playing solitaire online, if that tells you anything...
rough night last night with the imbecile drug addict downstairs. they partied all the from before midnight til 1:37 this afternoon. i barely slept. i'm not pleased.
i found one rental house that sounds pretty good, but haven't seen any pics nor has the lady gotten back to me. i've emailed and left a v-mail...
hey seamus - if you're still here: will tonight be a big night in Shittsburgh w/ the PSU game at home vs. Iowa? we better win!!! we pretty much suck against them...
[60] pittsburghers mostly don't care for PSU. They really need to revive the Pitt-PSU rivalry. Should be an itneresting game (though I'll be watching ND)
[61] ah, you might not much of a life, either - haha! ; )
guy never got the boot. it's been better since the manager let him have it. not perfect, but tolerable. last night, was NOT tolerable. it better not continue... : /
almost, Johnny, almost...
[62] really?! PSU is all over the state though. yeah, PSU-Pitt was around every year when i was in school. it was the day of the big blood drive on campus.
[66] bummer. i thought things were peaceful by now. Well, i guess things are better just not perfect. I forget why they don't play pitt-psu anymore. I don't remember if it was paterno that stopped it or pitt.
[68] nothing peaceful about it. the fucking piece of shit cocksucking asshole actually gets mad at me for telling him to quit making noise! like i did something wrong. he woke me up at 4am, 5am, 6am, 7:46am. i lost it by then. fuck that motherfucker. i hope karma kicks the living shit outta that douchebag.
i don't know that the schools or coaches have say about the schedule. maybe it's the conference. i dunno. i only follow baseball! : ) ...but i'll check on the penn state score later on...
[74] this house does have a full basement, which is super cool. i wonder how much flooding there was last week. we got killed 'round these parts and more today.
i'm not looking to set up a studio there though. i'm keeping my little studio/rehearsal room at the warehouse. it's 24-7 and centrally located for my students.
be nice to have more room for my cd's & baseball books! and, especially: NO attached neighbors!!!!!!!!
[77] maybe she waited to call until she cleaned the water out of the basement?? or not. Yeah, if you've got a good studio setup might as well stick with it.
[80] nope. she didn't get my email til today and missed 1-digit on my phone #.
i now have the street address, so i'll drive by. if it's worth it to see inside, i'll try to set up an appt. for Monday. we'll see...
i will have my marimba in the house. and if the basement is good enough, i might try to have my dream drumkit built for me. i've wanted it since i'm a little boy. it's time...
[87] neh. i'm pretty simple and straightforward. the kit is nothing special. classy and fusion-y. royal blue sparkle, possibly gold/brass colored lugs/hardware. 20" kick, 13" snare, 8/10/12 racks and a 14" floor on legs. that's more drums than i've ever had on any kit!
the custom builder i use here had to close his drum shop, due to the economy. i'm not positive if he's still building. if so, and i get this house, i'll inquire...
[91] How about my Luds? Oyster Blue Pearl (defines classic), 2 20"s, 12" and 13" Toms, 14" and 16" Toms on the floor. 20" Z ride, 16" Z crash, 18" Paiste crash.
Does anyone else find irony in the lengthy discussion about Ichiro (a player not involved in this game) whose starting point was Ichiciro's relative obscurity?
[127] oh, thanks! yeah, i don't think i ever heard the other version, that RI mentioned last night. is that "proper"?! i wonder why...it's very awkward to say.
unfuckingbelievable, rolls off the tongue, nicely! : )
plus, it's always better to get the "fucking" part earlier! (i guess that could read multiple ways. but it my world, it unfortunately only refers to cursing).
speaking of cursing, it's still so weird to hear "cussing" in the South. i never heard that growing up. Up North, we curse!!!
the british babe i dated, would say: "i can't be arsed". meaning, "i can't be bothered." i always thought that was weird. she had a great, um...arse! ; )
[155] he sure as shit did! i'm glad your Pop ruled out the fixin's & cuttin's! my mom's from brooklyn and my pop's from NYC, though he mainly grew up on Long Island. my brother and i are both from Queens. i have a mouth like a fucking sailor and we most definitely curse!!! : )
[163] wow, i'm the exact opposite! i think "curse", sounds nasty and biting. "cuss," sounds soft to me. as my grandma used to say: "that's what makes horseraces!" : )
i can't believe how feebly we just went down against dice. : /
[214] don't know if you read the game thread, but i had a bullshit bout with the idiot loser downstairs last night. he had his druggy buddies coming in/out the entire night/middle of the night/morning and into this afternoon. : /
[214] Yeah, sorry I'm late. Overslept, then had to find a space (i.e. catching up with the comments); but they let me unload a couple. I'll be circling the block now if I'm needed >;)
[220] Yeah, I read that, sorry. I hope that house you're looking at works out. I need an opportunity like that. Same here; it's not perfect, but tolerable. House is still falling apart tho.
Any "statistical inaccuracies" you can blame on Shaun >;)
Game on tape delay now, on tv here. Bottom 1st. Look forward to reading the game thread later!
Already in an uproar, damn Dusty McVittles has such a big mouth..what does it take for a Red Sox player to get thrown out? Does he have to attack the ump with his bat??
JHC. My roommate is monopolizing the TV in the good room today by watching a marathon of Lifetime TV movies under the marquee "Misery Loves Company". I am not kidding. Unfreakinbelieveable... (btw, I was using your word the other day, thelarmis; unconscious NYC thing I bet...)
Speaking of which, this for Serious Consideration: I was up this morning and flipped on the telly; Law and Order on TNT for some strange reason. The next episode at the top of the hour was about a arts patron who was murdered for funding the display of a controversial painting. When I saw the painting, I instantly recognized the episode and watched intently. Sure enough when they arrived to the Supreme Court trial scene, there I was in the gallery, sitting in the front row.
I was an extra on Law & Order in 2000, among a few other shows. This was the very first time I'd seen anything I was actually in. The episode, ironically enough, was called "Untitled" >;)
Lifetime has it all: Telltale bad acting, scripts so formulaic you can recite the dialogue as though you were watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show, over-the-top promos. And all without a bit of irony (unlike Bravo, Spike or G4 which at least makes it somewhat fun...)
[260] Wow! That's super cool..is it fun to be an extra, or just a lot of standing around?
Law&Order franchise..I reckon it's more valuable than many MLB franchises at this point..
CC looking awesome so far! I love how FOX keeps showing Varitek in the dugout, looking "leadership-y"..too funny.
[262] It is a LOT of standing around. The key maxim in the entertainment field is "Hurry Up And Wait". It's a little more fun if you're with friends and you're making a lot of money, which you likely are if you're in SAG. If you're not, then it's not fun.
[263] How hard is it to get into the union? I think you mentioned that you are not in the union for techies (gaffers, electricians, etc) either..do they all have separate unions depending on the job? I know the cinematographers do..
[172] Hha hah ha hah ha! I was watching in the bar and did indeed roll my eyes to behold such a table. Stanton, Nelson, Gordon and everyone's fave, Farnsworth. The presence of Farnsworth on that list tells you all you need to know about the importance of the H stat.
1. When Alex came up with the bases juiced I felt that Boston had us right where they wanted us. I didn't feel confident. So he taps the first pitch two feet. He's not even in a slump. He's been banging the ball all around the yard, but when the heat's on, look what happens? It's really frustrating.
2. Robinson Cano is a god. Did you see that home run? I nearly melted away and swooned off my bar stool.
3. Damon came up huge there, nice, quick little swing.
well, i watched a little bit of the Penn State game. we're up 10-5 at half. in the few minutes i watched, i saw a bunch of horseshit calls and 1 instant replay that did not overrule the call on the field, which replays showed was clearly incorrect.
Hey everyone -- I'm on the road and just caught up. (I caught about 100 seconds of the game, what seem to have been the absolute worst 100 seconds, beginning when we had the bases loaded with nobody out and ending... yuch. But now I've watched some highlights and it's all good. Dominant CC. And, thanks be to Mo.
[264] Sorry I took so long. Yeah, the unions for each tech crew are slightly different, though I do believe some fall under the same umbrella. in fact, the only two groups that aren'tunion on a big film are PAs and additional background players. And I can tell you from experience, being either one on a big film is like being a pariah in a church.
I suspect it's not so hard to get into the tech crews in other places, but far often than not it's a matter of who you know than what you know in NYC. Same with getting into SAG; it's not at all easy. You have to have more luck than anything else, and even then you need to pay a now-exorbitant fee to join within a certain amount of time or you lose eligibility to join. There are other ways to get into SAG that people often do; joining AFTRA (American Federation of Television & Radio Actors) or AEA (Actors Equity Association) which are broadcast (TV & Radio) and theatre actor unions respectively, they are much cheaper and easier to join, and you are SAG-eligible as a result. But in any case, everything has to be together; the money and the opportunity. I never had either at the same time, so I try to create them for myself.
And I will say this: the only reasons I want to join a tech crew is to become more familiar with the equipment in the process of making a film (Hi, I'm Chyll Will and these is my guns, the HVX-200 and the Red), and to make good money so I can produce my own and other peoples' films. You just can't make it outside of the unions unless you have a continuous stream of work, and in any case why would you do that with all the experience you can get from that? But yeah, it's tough to get into any of them unless you know people. It stinks, but so does everything else around here and you have to keep putting in the work until it happens.

[275] Oh, Damon's swing looked fabulous to me. He could so easily have gotten beat in that spot, right under the hands, but he just flicked the ball away. I thought it was a very nice piece of hitting.
IF my boy boBBy (abreu, obviously) plays three more years (at least), and stays healthy and as productive as he's been, he's going to approach the following career (round) numbers:
we have a 10th member of the 20-20 club this season. last season there were 9. last season, we had two 30-30 guys; this year, one. J-Up is the latest member.
Ian Kinsler (30-30)
Mark Reynolds
Curtis Granderson
Matt Kemp
Hanley Ramirez
Brandon Phillips
Chase Utley
Nelson Cruz
Jimmy Rollins
Justin Upton
there are still 6 players within 3 stolen bases or 3 homers. maybe 2 more make it in, 3 at most. here are the 6 who are close, closing in on the last week of the regular season.
Derek Jeter (3 HR's - never hoid of him!)
Nate McLouth (2 away in both categories, but Braves are hot)
Troy Tulowitzki (2 SB's)
Torii Hunter (3 SB's)
Shin-Soo Choo (2 HR's)
Alex Rios (3 HR's)
That's what I was waiting for... werrrd! >;)
The FOX part might suck, but it allows me to watch the game, so that's good.
also good: dave robertson looks good & feels great; should be back Monday.
not good at all: Posada scratched w/ a sore neck. that fight was completely idiotic. : /
YANKEES (98-56)
Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Matsui DH
Swisher RF
Cano 2B
Cabrera CF
Molina C
Pitching: LHP CC Sabathia (18-7, 3.31).
ROID SOX (91-62)
Ellsbury CF
Pedroia 2B
Martinez C
Youkilis 1B
Lowell 3B
Ortiz DH
Baldelli RF
Lowrie SS
Anderson LF
Pitching: RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-5, 6.80).
Wait, was Posada going to catch today? Or was he just scratched as the DH? Seems like he wouldn't have caught with the day after night game.
[5] yeah, he was supposed to catch and i think bat 6th, but he was scratched due to a stiff neck that he suffered in that stoopid fight with the Blow Jays. : /
Braves won...again.
I look forward to hearing the Fox announcers as they're forced to acknowledge the Yanks have got the division more or less sewed up.
Dear Lord, why does this have to be on Fox?
Michael Kay, where are you? We miss you!
Who's the other announcer? The not McCarver guy. Unless Joe Buck has a nasty head cold, it's not Joe Buck.
[9] Actually I could use a break from Kay after last night's satanic invocations against the Red Sox pitching staff. Embarrassing.
great start!
Oh, settle down, you hotheaded fuck.
[10] Who knows. Let's just refer to him as "Not McCarver Guy."
Oh, *that* was a strike. More than the one on Pedroia.
[14] I love that idea.
I love Pedroia's act. I wonder what he was talking about. He clearly said "all the fuckin' time. It's a fuckin' joke" ... What exactly happens all the time? Is it Sabathia or the ump or what? We'll never know.
Good work, CC!
[16] I mean, I understand his grievance, it looked a tad outside to me, too, but not so egregiously and *certainly* not in the first with the bases empty.
Well struck, Derek!
[18] Oh I agree. I just think it's funny. He obviously has some idea of continuity though, it's like he's being persecuted, or that ump always screws up or Sabathia is getting special treatment or something. It's a conspiracy, the poor guy.
Wait, that first pitch to Damon was a ball?
This ump's nearly as bad as that guy last night.
given how small Pedroia is, it's a double whammy: "little man syndrome" and the fact that his strike zone is objectively the size of a hobbit's.....
[20] Yeah, indeed.
[20] Yeah, indeed.
Now why wasn't Derek running there?
yeah, Johnny! weird slide.
Kind of a shame Damon ran there; that was a real cookie Teix let go by.
[22] napoleon!
[26] true dat. but we establish the running game early and A-Rod will come thru here!
weak.
Ichiro got ejected today for the first time in his life. strike three called and he drew a line in the dirt, got rung immediately.
aw.
beautiful. siddown, ugly!
nice, CC!!!
that was a gorgeous breaking ball!
29 pitches thru 2. 4 K's.
CC dealing!!!
goddamn, it's lonely 'round these parts... : ~
lotsa minor ouchies going on today.
matsui down on strikes to his fellow countryman.
Nice hit, Swisher.
Swish singles to right.
go thelarmis!!!
[38] you're interrupting me. harrumph!
that was like 10 straight posts.
[42] i have NO life. : (
[42] eleven. (sniff!)
did they just say no middle infield combo has had 200 hits since the 1880's?!
2 more for Robbie.
McCarver: "I think someday Cano will win a batting title, that's how good he is."
Umm, didn't he nearly win won that year he hit .340? Or maybe not. I thought he'd nearly won one already. Either way, McCarver makes it sound like some bold prediction.
Oh well, I should just let it go.
Dear Lord, look who worked a walk!
a walk for Robbie!
wahoo!
[44] carrying the team all by yourself! wait, does this mean i have no life?
[41] Heh heh heh he.
[45] he is insufferable.
i love how no one has swung at a first pitch offering yet!
Damn, that was a nice play.
I *love* all those balls up the middle, btw. Another one for Melky. Nice work.
I'd like to see the Yankees roll Matsuzaka here ... Just sow more and more seeds of doubt for the Sox. And also win a game, of course.
That was a nice play.
no. no. c'mon. no.
swish hesitated slightly. shoulda been running on contact...
[48] at least you have a good job. and weekend plans with friends. nope, you have a life!
Molina is a very dependable chap, isn't he.
[54] yes, you can always depend on him to make an out. he makes baseball, wait for it...predictable!
remember when baldelli was touted as the next Dimaggio?! crazy talk.
MELKY!!!
(exhale)
another great and quick inning for the very large man.
35 pitches thru 3. : )
hey seamus - if you're still here: will tonight be a big night in Shittsburgh w/ the PSU game at home vs. Iowa? we better win!!! we pretty much suck against them...
[55] i'm playing risk online. is that better? :b
what happened? I thought that noisy neighbor was getting the boot?
[60] pittsburghers mostly don't care for PSU. They really need to revive the Pitt-PSU rivalry. Should be an itneresting game (though I'll be watching ND)
Dice-Klay hit Jeter right above the butt. 77 mph curve, no intent...
dice-klay? lol
The key to beating Dice-K is to swing at as few pitches as possible. His junk only works if you swing at it (usually out of the strike zone).
[61] ah, you might not much of a life, either - haha! ; )
guy never got the boot. it's been better since the manager let him have it. not perfect, but tolerable. last night, was NOT tolerable. it better not continue... : /
almost, Johnny, almost...
[62] really?! PSU is all over the state though. yeah, PSU-Pitt was around every year when i was in school. it was the day of the big blood drive on campus.
good hit, Tex. let's score. c'mon, Alex!!!
[64] yeah, i always call him that! and facemask = vagitek. twat nixon was a good one! : )
[66] bummer. i thought things were peaceful by now. Well, i guess things are better just not perfect. I forget why they don't play pitt-psu anymore. I don't remember if it was paterno that stopped it or pitt.
hey! just got an email from the lady about the house! gonna call her, drive by, etc. who knows if it'll work, but it's certainly worth a shot...
bummer.
oh man, that was weird. and sucky. boo!
Oh, what on God's Green Earth was Alex looking at?
sigh
That was weird... and poor.
[69] good luck! probably would be nice to have a house. set up a studio. :)
[72] kate hudson?! (i'd be looking, too!!!)
[75] bummer
wow, CC painting exactly where Molina wants it.
[77] maybe she waited to call until she cleaned the water out of the basement?? or not. Yeah, if you've got a good studio setup might as well stick with it.
victor ruins the perfecto in the 4th once again.
walk.
here's ugly...
JETER!!!!
he's too old to play SS and can't range to his left. ; )
today is an interesting day in college football. two upsets already and two more in the works. Hopefully that doesn't carry over to PSU or ND.
[80] nope. she didn't get my email til today and missed 1-digit on my phone #.
i now have the street address, so i'll drive by. if it's worth it to see inside, i'll try to set up an appt. for Monday. we'll see...
i will have my marimba in the house. and if the basement is good enough, i might try to have my dream drumkit built for me. i've wanted it since i'm a little boy. it's time...
we need some runs guys!!!
[83] yes, GO PENN STATE!!!
i guess both Kim Jones (mmm, kim jones...) and Sweeny Murti went to PSU.
[84] hmm, i bet your dream drumkit is pretty awesome!
HA!
i loved that!
bermuda triangle
i'm actually surprised dice-klay has only thrown 60 pitches.
[87] neh. i'm pretty simple and straightforward. the kit is nothing special. classy and fusion-y. royal blue sparkle, possibly gold/brass colored lugs/hardware. 20" kick, 13" snare, 8/10/12 racks and a 14" floor on legs. that's more drums than i've ever had on any kit!
the custom builder i use here had to close his drum shop, due to the economy. i'm not positive if he's still building. if so, and i get this house, i'll inquire...
dear robbie,
the runner on 2nd is Matsui, so it's not really "scoring position."
ah, whatever. bad robbie. swings at 1st pitch and lofts it to short right.
shoulda bunted! ; )
[90] me too. huh.
melky was hustlin'.
molina = predictable outcome. end of inning.
damn. we are leaving too many on bus today. c'mon score truck!
thanks for fighting and hurting your neck, jorgie. good job, red ass...
[91] How about my Luds? Oyster Blue Pearl (defines classic), 2 20"s, 12" and 13" Toms, 14" and 16" Toms on the floor. 20" Z ride, 16" Z crash, 18" Paiste crash.
there goes the no-no. just pastadivingcano...
[97] that's a HUGE rock kit!!! not my style. (brand, sizes, color, cymbals...) i'm sure it's very nice, though! do you have 'em set up?!
wait, TWO 20" kicks? weird. i would expect them to be 22"...
it was a strike anyway. well, it was on the gamecast box! : )
Fat Liar actually handled that very well. ump was waaaaaay off base. that "clicking" sound was well earlier than when the ball crossed the plate.
Interference! ; )
where in the goddamn fuck was that pitch??????????? holy crap! : /
there it is!
73 pitches thru 5. 7 k's, 2 baserunners.
hi team- is it acceptable or unacceptable that we have not scored on matsuzaka?
[103] UN-
[103] lots of runners left on base
[104] [105] thanks guys
hell yeah!
maybe i have a low tolerance level but i am already sick of mccarver abd impostor buck
another infield single for Cap'n and the 3rd time he's on base today.
it's time to blow this open. steal, homer, whatever...just score!
johnny hit it good once earlier today...
[108] at least it's not Joe Buck, himself.
ugh. Timmay McFuckface just complimented Lupica. jeezus!!!
[103] It's unnerving.
have the yanks been running on martinez?
Does anyone else find irony in the lengthy discussion about Ichiro (a player not involved in this game) whose starting point was Ichiciro's relative obscurity?
Even more irony!
this is a terrific start to the inning.
no outs, speed on the bases, power at the plate. he's at 80 pitches thru 4+...
Score Truck delivery, thank you please!!!
[113] yes - i was just going to post that too
fuck
[112] kinda. damon has a stolen base. Tex was even running w/ 1 out, 1st & 3rd. A-rod struck out looking and interfered w/ Victor. double play.
here we go, A-Rod!!!
crowd hugely into it. i like the silence in the booth. please keep that up. oh, ruined.
damn, nice play by Victor. boo!!!
have to give credit to victor for a good play there
still only 1 out. no DP Mats...
[118] thanks thelarmis.
jesus h christ those were 2 ugly abs
oh, jesus fucking h. christ.
why are we all of a sudden getting impatient and swinging at the 1st pitch. we had him on the ropes. : /
Bad job by A Rod and Matsui there. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
[122] It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence if they're gonna get jumpy cause they think they hear the rumble of the score truck.
Ouch - 0-10 with RISP?
I would boo if I was at the stadium.
fucking crap. just fell into his glove. lucky bastid...
btw the way thelarmis i think unfuckingbelievable (your version) works better than unbefuckingleviable
and how appropriate, unfuckingbelievable - that was unacceptable
I shouting something like: when the bases are loaded, I want to see them hit the ball past the damn catcher. Well, Swisher got it past the catcher.
I kind of have a bad feeling about this inning.
anyone know if the alcs is on fox or tbs?
i will have to start preparing myself for the different categories of fuckwits pretty soon.
[128] How about past the catcher in fair territory? That would be impressive.
[130] i meant the alds, but what the hell i'll be optimistic and gather information about the alcs too
That was brutal... just brutal.
Up North, we curse!!!
beautiful, big man!
[130] pick your poison.
ALDS on TBS, i believe.
[131] Let's not get greedy.
85 pitches thru 6. very nicely done, people!
i hate that Dice-Klay has been good since he's back. : /
[134] Curse and cuss are the same word, actually. Just different pronunciation that developed over time. Like ass and arse.
Whoa, that carried!
robbie cano!!
CA-YES!!!
CA-BOOM!!!
no duckies on pond...
1-0
[139] that's interesting - that is about the only "southern" expression/pronunciation i still say fairly frequently (ie cuss)
[139] whadda you know about linguistics?! ; )
the british babe i dated, would say: "i can't be arsed". meaning, "i can't be bothered." i always thought that was weird. she had a great, um...arse! ; )
24 homers for #24. 199 hits.
again with swinging at the 1st pitch...
[143] do you "fix" things? like dinner and leaving the house? that always makes me cringe: "i'm fixin' to leave the house". why, what broke?! ; )
do you "cut" things on/off, like lights?! add that to the list.
stay away from the Captain's wrist, you cocksucker!!!
damnit.
well, we have the lead. dice-klay should be outta the game.
hopefully CC continues to mow 'em down!!!
Professional Hitter - retired.
[146] nah - i never said either one - my midwestern dad would not have been happy
fixin' gets elevated to the nex level when it is said almost like fit-in, with the t practically silent
ouch. ugly slammed on the wrist. or a little below.
oh i hope this doesn't lead to more hit batters
i thought the 1st pitch to Lowell crossed the plate at the knees.
great job CC!!! i hope he's fine.
i hope the big man didn't pull anything
Wow... Lowell is REALLY slow. I thought no chance there.
[154] yeah i think he is the slowest non-catcher in the al by quite a bit
cc just cussed himself out :}
i am going to be sick - the sunlight of his personality
nice work, Carsten!!!
96 pitches thru 7
[155] he sure as shit did! i'm glad your Pop ruled out the fixin's & cuttin's! my mom's from brooklyn and my pop's from NYC, though he mainly grew up on Long Island. my brother and i are both from Queens. i have a mouth like a fucking sailor and we most definitely curse!!! : )
[156] Too bad when Papi stands in the sunlight, it casts a Roids shadow.
wow, i thought the 'pen would be in by now.
we're really failing against dice-klay...
i heard Hargrove might actually come back and manage the Tribe.
Dice-Klay has an in-game WHIP of almost 2. and all we have off him is a solo shot. : /
[159] so true
[158] for some reason i think curse sounds soft; i like saying i cussed that motherfucker out - with a hard emphasis on the double ss
[163] wow, i'm the exact opposite! i think "curse", sounds nasty and biting. "cuss," sounds soft to me. as my grandma used to say: "that's what makes horseraces!" : )
i can't believe how feebly we just went down against dice. : /
what?! why is CC out??????
Phil-Mo...
[164] :} different strokes and all that
btw, nice halftime lyrics alex
how is Tex's UZR negative??? that was terrific!!!
[165] guess since he was at 98 pitches, don't want to wear him out before the playoffs
[166] exactly! : )
Mo's stretching, but why are Edwar and Mitre throwing? : /
that was gorgeous. siddown, Krotchman!
wait, why the hell did mcacrver say edwar and mitre's name?
oh, where's weeping??? a "HOLDS" stat table!!! ; )
the inning of pinch hitters...
[171] cause, inexplicably, they're both warming up in the 'pen...
oh just lost his nerd glasses from the last series
[173] i hope it is for the wiffle ball game they are playing later
PHRANCHISE!!!
damn that was some tough shit there hughesy
oh, how i wish that had stayed fair...
OBP! good way to start the inning.
run, gritner, run !!!
i doubt robbie even knows the bunt sign
[181] good!
beautiful! now, steal 3rd. : )
get him over, get him in. Go to Mo!
enough with the dave roberts bullshit. fuck you.
what a disgusting stat fox just put on the screen
dammit, robbie. maybe brett shoulda stayed at 1st! ; )
run brett run
[184] yeah, let's add 11 wins to that ledger!
nice job, brett! that was a lot closer than i would've liked.
wagner is definitely throwing hard
holy fuck that had to hurt
christ almighty.
wagner drilled melky in the hip, something fierce. OUCH!!!
no DP. score the run!!!
[189] i'd be in bed for a week...
squeeze, squeeze, squeeze!!
why isn't Cervelli hitting here???
holy crap. that was incredibly sloppy!
whew!
wow, what a crazy play - and no dp opportunity
what a nutty AB that was.
blow it open, Jetes!!!
I might be willing to squeeze with Jeter here.
OK, I guess no squeeze now. Come on, mighty Casey.
how 'bout granny #2 for #2 ?!
[197] me too - problem is wagner is throwing too hard and too wild
can you imagine all those people chanting your name?!
wow...
[200] True.
damn - should have laid off that one
got him w/ the high heat. : (
Crap. Send Gardy!!
over 30 pitches for Wagner already.
walk in a run...
i don't know if i could handle watching wagner on a regular basis for my team
[205] i love it! i'd rather that with a right handed hitter at the plate though, to block the view...
Well lookie-here!!
JOH-NNY DA-MON !! !!!
yes, a jd flare slap shout
is Guzman in to run for Johnny?
Othello in for the Shit Sox.
Is it alright for me to have the score truck idling in this spot?
[214] Aha, so YOU were to blame. Take that out of idle and throw it into gear!
100 mph.
here's...MO!!!
[214] hell no, it was not alright :}
[214] wow, i saw i had the most references to Score Truck in July, but you gave it to that guy in [215]. Border Wars!!! ; )
[218] i thought i had a lot, but didn't even make honorable mention :{
[214] don't know if you read the game thread, but i had a bullshit bout with the idiot loser downstairs last night. he had his druggy buddies coming in/out the entire night/middle of the night/morning and into this afternoon. : /
i hope this is a nice, quick inning!
though mp and i are biding time our for beast commercial
[214] Yeah, sorry I'm late. Overslept, then had to find a space (i.e. catching up with the comments); but they let me unload a couple. I'll be circling the block now if I'm needed >;)
i know i probably say it ever time it happens, but i love watching mo field
[219] you were right up there, Miss O. plus, i think you won most consecutive use, so you got the hit streak goin' for ya!
Mo is beautiful!!!
fuck you, carl everett. huh, i thought it was a hit to right...
siddown, you little midget fuck!
trot on back dusty
[224] haha thanks - but i am no joe d :}
bollocks.
professional hitter = 25 game hit streak.
well, it'll be nicer ending the game by striking out Ugly...
strike 1
[227] Jody or Jo Dee ?! ; )
2 strikes
[221] Ha-ha!
As the accidental inventor of "mute point," I'm more than happy to use someone else's catch phrases!
this isn't optimal...
[220] Yeah, I read that, sorry. I hope that house you're looking at works out. I need an opportunity like that. Same here; it's not perfect, but tolerable. House is still falling apart tho.
Any "statistical inaccuracies" you can blame on Shaun >;)
[230] i hadn't seen shaun' last few posts until just now to see my "name" referenced
i saw pj's name - he still hasn't returned - i really hope he is okay
[232] i thought Sweet Lou invented the "mute point"!
he could've easily gotten out of the way there.
OK, I'm not liking this. Mo is toying with us.
he's gonna foul out to Alex.
another D.I.
alright, time to end it mo
Magic Number = Billy Martin
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes, mo is mo
sweet win, i kind of like that the magic number skipped gerig and jeter - seems poetic somehow
[242] beautiful catch. that's really cool.
Damon is 7 RBI away from 1,000.
both petey and rab have bobby murcer up
that was mighty quick
So, have all the sheep returned to the fold? Can we ALL agree that...the division race is over?
season series now 9-8 Bos. would be cool to tie it tomorrow. i'll be watching...
[245] baaaaaaaaaah
Okay, who needs a ride home? >;)
[244] why am i remembering Murcer as #2. i was thinking Martin as #1...
[245] over. it's ours. i think home field will be, too! : )
[248] you wanna drive me past this rental house? NO attached neighbors there!
[250] Sweet!
Murcer #'s
1965-1966 = #17
1969-1974 = #1
1979 = #27
1979-1983 = #2
1987 = #39 (Coach)
age-wise, it makes perfect sense that i remember him most as #2.
Game on tape delay now, on tv here. Bottom 1st. Look forward to reading the game thread later!
Already in an uproar, damn Dusty McVittles has such a big mouth..what does it take for a Red Sox player to get thrown out? Does he have to attack the ump with his bat??
[253] got 3 Three Sounds CD's in the mail yesterday. listened to 1 last night - Black Orchid, it's great - and gonna spin the other 2 tonight!
i'll check in here at some point later and see you all tomorrow afternoon!
LET'S GO YAN-KEES!!!
[253] The ump would probably thank him for the impromptu massage...
[256] LIfetime...isn't every movie on their about a woman recovering with cancer? Starring Meredith Baxter-Birney or Nancy McKeon??
btw, your use of "JHC" freaked me out there fore a second..those are my initials :0
CC looking great so far! 4 Ks through 2 innings...FOX though..who is announcing with Timmy Mac? Not great but not as bad as Joe Buck..
[254] Melvin Sparks "Sparkplug" last night, very funky!
[257] Ha! Close: Jesus H. Christ!
Yeah, that and Law & Order knockoffs....
Uh-oh, Jeter just hit by Dice-K...
Dice-K vs Matsui again now..
[256] do i get royalties?! ; )
[257] Lifetime - Tony Williams?! ; )
[258] btw, CC looked great thru 7 !!! : )
[260] my 1st band had a song called "Emanon". sooo silly!!!
The only remaining question is, 20 wins for CC?
[267] i think he'll go five and get it in Tampa!
[267] speaking of round #'s, would be nice if:
A-rod reaches 30/100.
Cano = 25 homers
Jeter = 20 homers (doubt he'll hit 3 in 7 games)
Tex = 40 homers
[270] Well, i guess Jesus was the best of all of 'em - it became his middle initial !!!; )
It was a great win. Couple things, though.
4. Phil Hughes is a stud.
5. Mariano Rivera, ladies and gentlemen.
[271] Heh heh heh. :)
well, i watched a little bit of the Penn State game. we're up 10-5 at half. in the few minutes i watched, i saw a bunch of horseshit calls and 1 instant replay that did not overrule the call on the field, which replays showed was clearly incorrect.
[272] i felt very confident. i thought we were gonna blow it open. i think our guys were licking their chops and got overly aggressive, is all...
1. Matsui was just as bad right after A-Rod.
2. it barely made it over and needed the help of the wall. still, he's great, it was oppo field and his swing is delicious.
3. yes, big hit. but not some kind of beautiful swing, or anything.
4. damn straight.
5. eternal praise!
I thought it was a very nice piece of hitting.
ooh, penn state lost at home. state college is quite somber right now.
Iowa : Penn State = Angels : Yankees
lions just can't be that goddamn team. oh well...
GO YANKS!!!
HGH Religious Special on a Sunday Afternoon! ; )
btw, Halos lost to the suddenly downright offensive A's, by the football score of 15-10.
methinks the division and homefield is ours!
IF my boy boBBy (abreu, obviously) plays three more years (at least), and stays healthy and as productive as he's been, he's going to approach the following career (round) numbers:
1,500 runs
1,500 RBI
1,500 walks
2,500 hits
300 homeruns
400 stolen bases
500 doubles
.300/.400/.500 career slash stats
most likely he'll reach some of those. of course, for me, i'm most hopeful for the 300 homers, 'coz then he'll be in my favorite 300-300 club! : )
Power & Speed
we have a 10th member of the 20-20 club this season. last season there were 9. last season, we had two 30-30 guys; this year, one. J-Up is the latest member.
Ian Kinsler (30-30)
Mark Reynolds
Curtis Granderson
Matt Kemp
Hanley Ramirez
Brandon Phillips
Chase Utley
Nelson Cruz
Jimmy Rollins
Justin Upton
there are still 6 players within 3 stolen bases or 3 homers. maybe 2 more make it in, 3 at most. here are the 6 who are close, closing in on the last week of the regular season.
Derek Jeter (3 HR's - never hoid of him!)
Nate McLouth (2 away in both categories, but Braves are hot)
Troy Tulowitzki (2 SB's)
Torii Hunter (3 SB's)
Shin-Soo Choo (2 HR's)
Alex Rios (3 HR's)
Johnny Damon, 2 years from now:
1,700 Runs (or close to it)
2,700 Hits (still less than Harold Baines!)
400 Stolen Bases
500 Doubles
100 Triples
250 Homers
1,100 RBI
1,000 Walks
.800 OPS (maybe)
