That's what I was waiting for... werrrd! >;)

2 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 2:53 pm

The FOX part might suck, but it allows me to watch the game, so that's good.

also good: dave robertson looks good & feels great; should be back Monday.

not good at all: Posada scratched w/ a sore neck. that fight was completely idiotic. : /

[2] It doesn't matter, and it's not important at all, but it would be nice to see Cervelli get a start. I guess they are keeping Molina fresh for the playoffs.

4 Horace Clarke Era   ~  Sep 26, 2009 3:07 pm

Molina IS the backup, and may well start vs L.A. if that happens, Jorge DHing, though it is hard to give up Matsui + Posada at the plate for Posada + Molina.

My bet is the Yankees do NOT do that, but I've lost a lot of bets in my time.

5 Paul   ~  Sep 26, 2009 3:47 pm

Wait, was Posada going to catch today? Or was he just scratched as the DH? Seems like he wouldn't have caught with the day after night game.

6 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 3:54 pm

[5] yeah, he was supposed to catch and i think bat 6th, but he was scratched due to a stiff neck that he suffered in that stoopid fight with the Blow Jays. : /

7 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 3:54 pm

Braves won...again.

8 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:10 pm

I look forward to hearing the Fox announcers as they're forced to acknowledge the Yanks have got the division more or less sewed up.

9 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:11 pm

Dear Lord, why does this have to be on Fox?

Michael Kay, where are you? We miss you!

10 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:13 pm

Who's the other announcer? The not McCarver guy. Unless Joe Buck has a nasty head cold, it's not Joe Buck.

11 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:14 pm

[9] Actually I could use a break from Kay after last night's satanic invocations against the Red Sox pitching staff. Embarrassing.

12 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:15 pm

great start!

13 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:16 pm

Oh, settle down, you hotheaded fuck.

14 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:16 pm

[10] Who knows. Let's just refer to him as "Not McCarver Guy."

15 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:18 pm

Oh, *that* was a strike. More than the one on Pedroia.

16 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:18 pm

[14] I love that idea.

I love Pedroia's act. I wonder what he was talking about. He clearly said "all the fuckin' time. It's a fuckin' joke" ... What exactly happens all the time? Is it Sabathia or the ump or what? We'll never know.

17 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:19 pm

Good work, CC!

18 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:20 pm

[16] I mean, I understand his grievance, it looked a tad outside to me, too, but not so egregiously and *certainly* not in the first with the bases empty.

19 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:22 pm

Well struck, Derek!

20 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:22 pm

[18] Oh I agree. I just think it's funny. He obviously has some idea of continuity though, it's like he's being persecuted, or that ump always screws up or Sabathia is getting special treatment or something. It's a conspiracy, the poor guy.

21 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:23 pm

Wait, that first pitch to Damon was a ball?

This ump's nearly as bad as that guy last night.

22 NickL   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:25 pm

given how small Pedroia is, it's a double whammy: "little man syndrome" and the fact that his strike zone is objectively the size of a hobbit's.....

23 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:27 pm

[20] Yeah, indeed.

24 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:27 pm

[20] Yeah, indeed.

Now why wasn't Derek running there?

25 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:28 pm

yeah, Johnny! weird slide.

26 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:29 pm

Kind of a shame Damon ran there; that was a real cookie Teix let go by.

27 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:29 pm

[22] napoleon!

28 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:30 pm

[26] true dat. but we establish the running game early and A-Rod will come thru here!

29 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:31 pm

weak.

30 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:33 pm

Ichiro got ejected today for the first time in his life. strike three called and he drew a line in the dirt, got rung immediately.

31 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:34 pm

aw.

32 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:35 pm

beautiful. siddown, ugly!

33 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:38 pm

nice, CC!!!

34 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:40 pm

that was a gorgeous breaking ball!

35 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:40 pm

29 pitches thru 2. 4 K's.

CC dealing!!!

36 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:41 pm

goddamn, it's lonely 'round these parts... : ~

37 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:45 pm

lotsa minor ouchies going on today.

matsui down on strikes to his fellow countryman.

38 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:46 pm

Nice hit, Swisher.

39 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:46 pm

Swish singles to right.

40 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:46 pm

go thelarmis!!!

41 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:46 pm

[38] you're interrupting me. harrumph!

42 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:46 pm

that was like 10 straight posts.

43 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:47 pm

[42] i have NO life. : (

44 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:48 pm

[42] eleven. (sniff!)

did they just say no middle infield combo has had 200 hits since the 1880's?!

2 more for Robbie.

45 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:48 pm

McCarver: "I think someday Cano will win a batting title, that's how good he is."

Umm, didn't he nearly win won that year he hit .340? Or maybe not. I thought he'd nearly won one already. Either way, McCarver makes it sound like some bold prediction.

Oh well, I should just let it go.

46 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:49 pm

Dear Lord, look who worked a walk!

47 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:49 pm

a walk for Robbie!

wahoo!

48 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:49 pm

[44] carrying the team all by yourself! wait, does this mean i have no life?

49 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:50 pm

[41] Heh heh heh he.

50 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:50 pm

[45] he is insufferable.

i love how no one has swung at a first pitch offering yet!

51 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:51 pm

Damn, that was a nice play.

I *love* all those balls up the middle, btw. Another one for Melky. Nice work.

52 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:51 pm

I'd like to see the Yankees roll Matsuzaka here ... Just sow more and more seeds of doubt for the Sox. And also win a game, of course.

That was a nice play.

53 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:52 pm

no. no. c'mon. no.

swish hesitated slightly. shoulda been running on contact...

[48] at least you have a good job. and weekend plans with friends. nope, you have a life!

54 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:52 pm

Molina is a very dependable chap, isn't he.

55 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:54 pm

[48] i'm playing solitaire online, if that tells you anything...

rough night last night with the imbecile drug addict downstairs. they partied all the from before midnight til 1:37 this afternoon. i barely slept. i'm not pleased.

i found one rental house that sounds pretty good, but haven't seen any pics nor has the lady gotten back to me. i've emailed and left a v-mail...

56 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:55 pm

[54] yes, you can always depend on him to make an out. he makes baseball, wait for it...predictable!

57 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:56 pm

remember when baldelli was touted as the next Dimaggio?! crazy talk.

58 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:57 pm

MELKY!!!

(exhale)

59 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:58 pm

another great and quick inning for the very large man.

35 pitches thru 3. : )

60 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:59 pm

hey seamus - if you're still here: will tonight be a big night in Shittsburgh w/ the PSU game at home vs. Iowa? we better win!!! we pretty much suck against them...

61 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 4:59 pm

[55] i'm playing risk online. is that better? :b

what happened? I thought that noisy neighbor was getting the boot?

62 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:00 pm

[60] pittsburghers mostly don't care for PSU. They really need to revive the Pitt-PSU rivalry. Should be an itneresting game (though I'll be watching ND)

63 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:01 pm

Dice-Klay hit Jeter right above the butt. 77 mph curve, no intent...

64 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:01 pm

dice-klay? lol

65 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:03 pm

The key to beating Dice-K is to swing at as few pitches as possible. His junk only works if you swing at it (usually out of the strike zone).

66 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:04 pm

[61] ah, you might not much of a life, either - haha! ; )

guy never got the boot. it's been better since the manager let him have it. not perfect, but tolerable. last night, was NOT tolerable. it better not continue... : /

almost, Johnny, almost...

[62] really?! PSU is all over the state though. yeah, PSU-Pitt was around every year when i was in school. it was the day of the big blood drive on campus.

good hit, Tex. let's score. c'mon, Alex!!!

67 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:04 pm

[64] yeah, i always call him that! and facemask = vagitek. twat nixon was a good one! : )

68 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:07 pm

[66] bummer. i thought things were peaceful by now. Well, i guess things are better just not perfect. I forget why they don't play pitt-psu anymore. I don't remember if it was paterno that stopped it or pitt.

69 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:07 pm

hey! just got an email from the lady about the house! gonna call her, drive by, etc. who knows if it'll work, but it's certainly worth a shot...

70 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:07 pm

bummer.

71 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:07 pm

oh man, that was weird. and sucky. boo!

72 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:08 pm

Oh, what on God's Green Earth was Alex looking at?

sigh

73 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:08 pm

That was weird... and poor.

74 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:08 pm

[69] good luck! probably would be nice to have a house. set up a studio. :)

75 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:11 pm

[68] nothing peaceful about it. the fucking piece of shit cocksucking asshole actually gets mad at me for telling him to quit making noise! like i did something wrong. he woke me up at 4am, 5am, 6am, 7:46am. i lost it by then. fuck that motherfucker. i hope karma kicks the living shit outta that douchebag.

i don't know that the schools or coaches have say about the schedule. maybe it's the conference. i dunno. i only follow baseball! : ) ...but i'll check on the penn state score later on...

76 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:12 pm

[72] kate hudson?! (i'd be looking, too!!!)

77 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:14 pm

[74] this house does have a full basement, which is super cool. i wonder how much flooding there was last week. we got killed 'round these parts and more today.

i'm not looking to set up a studio there though. i'm keeping my little studio/rehearsal room at the warehouse. it's 24-7 and centrally located for my students.

be nice to have more room for my cd's & baseball books! and, especially: NO attached neighbors!!!!!!!!

78 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:15 pm

[75] bummer

79 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:15 pm

wow, CC painting exactly where Molina wants it.

80 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:16 pm

[77] maybe she waited to call until she cleaned the water out of the basement?? or not. Yeah, if you've got a good studio setup might as well stick with it.

81 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:16 pm

victor ruins the perfecto in the 4th once again.

walk.

here's ugly...

82 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:17 pm

JETER!!!!

he's too old to play SS and can't range to his left. ; )

83 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:19 pm

today is an interesting day in college football. two upsets already and two more in the works. Hopefully that doesn't carry over to PSU or ND.

84 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:19 pm

[80] nope. she didn't get my email til today and missed 1-digit on my phone #.

i now have the street address, so i'll drive by. if it's worth it to see inside, i'll try to set up an appt. for Monday. we'll see...

i will have my marimba in the house. and if the basement is good enough, i might try to have my dream drumkit built for me. i've wanted it since i'm a little boy. it's time...

85 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:20 pm

we need some runs guys!!!

86 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:20 pm

[83] yes, GO PENN STATE!!!

i guess both Kim Jones (mmm, kim jones...) and Sweeny Murti went to PSU.

87 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:21 pm

[84] hmm, i bet your dream drumkit is pretty awesome!

88 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:22 pm

HA!

89 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:22 pm

i loved that!

bermuda triangle

90 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:24 pm

i'm actually surprised dice-klay has only thrown 60 pitches.

91 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:25 pm

[87] neh. i'm pretty simple and straightforward. the kit is nothing special. classy and fusion-y. royal blue sparkle, possibly gold/brass colored lugs/hardware. 20" kick, 13" snare, 8/10/12 racks and a 14" floor on legs. that's more drums than i've ever had on any kit!

the custom builder i use here had to close his drum shop, due to the economy. i'm not positive if he's still building. if so, and i get this house, i'll inquire...

92 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:26 pm

dear robbie,

the runner on 2nd is Matsui, so it's not really "scoring position."

ah, whatever. bad robbie. swings at 1st pitch and lofts it to short right.

shoulda bunted! ; )

93 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:27 pm

[90] me too. huh.

94 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:28 pm

melky was hustlin'.

molina = predictable outcome. end of inning.

95 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:28 pm

damn. we are leaving too many on bus today. c'mon score truck!

96 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:29 pm

thanks for fighting and hurting your neck, jorgie. good job, red ass...

97 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:31 pm

[91] How about my Luds? Oyster Blue Pearl (defines classic), 2 20"s, 12" and 13" Toms, 14" and 16" Toms on the floor. 20" Z ride, 16" Z crash, 18" Paiste crash.

98 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:33 pm

there goes the no-no. just pastadivingcano...

99 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:36 pm

[97] that's a HUGE rock kit!!! not my style. (brand, sizes, color, cymbals...) i'm sure it's very nice, though! do you have 'em set up?!

wait, TWO 20" kicks? weird. i would expect them to be 22"...

it was a strike anyway. well, it was on the gamecast box! : )

100 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:38 pm

Fat Liar actually handled that very well. ump was waaaaaay off base. that "clicking" sound was well earlier than when the ball crossed the plate.

Interference! ; )

104 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:43 pm

[103] UN-

105 seamus   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:43 pm

109 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:46 pm

another infield single for Cap'n and the 3rd time he's on base today.

it's time to blow this open. steal, homer, whatever...just score!

johnny hit it good once earlier today...

110 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:47 pm

[108] at least it's not Joe Buck, himself.

ugh. Timmay McFuckface just complimented Lupica. jeezus!!!

111 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:47 pm

[103] It's unnerving.

112 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:48 pm

have the yanks been running on martinez?

113 monkeypants   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:48 pm

Does anyone else find irony in the lengthy discussion about Ichiro (a player not involved in this game) whose starting point was Ichiciro's relative obscurity?

114 monkeypants   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:49 pm

Even more irony!

115 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:50 pm

this is a terrific start to the inning.

no outs, speed on the bases, power at the plate. he's at 80 pitches thru 4+...

Score Truck delivery, thank you please!!!

116 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:50 pm

[113] yes - i was just going to post that too

117 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:52 pm

fuck

118 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:52 pm

[112] kinda. damon has a stolen base. Tex was even running w/ 1 out, 1st & 3rd. A-rod struck out looking and interfered w/ Victor. double play.

here we go, A-Rod!!!

crowd hugely into it. i like the silence in the booth. please keep that up. oh, ruined.

damn, nice play by Victor. boo!!!

119 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:53 pm

have to give credit to victor for a good play there

120 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:53 pm

still only 1 out. no DP Mats...

121 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:53 pm

[118] thanks thelarmis.

jesus h christ those were 2 ugly abs

122 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:53 pm

oh, jesus fucking h. christ.

why are we all of a sudden getting impatient and swinging at the 1st pitch. we had him on the ropes. : /

123 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:54 pm

Bad job by A Rod and Matsui there. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

124 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:55 pm

[122] It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence if they're gonna get jumpy cause they think they hear the rumble of the score truck.

Ouch - 0-10 with RISP?

125 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:55 pm

I would boo if I was at the stadium.

126 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:55 pm

fucking crap. just fell into his glove. lucky bastid...

127 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:56 pm

btw the way thelarmis i think unfuckingbelievable (your version) works better than unbefuckingleviable

and how appropriate, unfuckingbelievable - that was unacceptable

128 monkeypants   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:56 pm

I shouting something like: when the bases are loaded, I want to see them hit the ball past the damn catcher. Well, Swisher got it past the catcher.

129 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 5:59 pm

I kind of have a bad feeling about this inning.

130 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:00 pm

anyone know if the alcs is on fox or tbs?
i will have to start preparing myself for the different categories of fuckwits pretty soon.

131 The Hawk   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:00 pm

[128] How about past the catcher in fair territory? That would be impressive.

132 ms october   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:01 pm

[130] i meant the alds, but what the hell i'll be optimistic and gather information about the alcs too

133 OldYanksFan   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:01 pm

That was brutal... just brutal.

134 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:02 pm

[127] oh, thanks! yeah, i don't think i ever heard the other version, that RI mentioned last night. is that "proper"?! i wonder why...it's very awkward to say.

unfuckingbelievable, rolls off the tongue, nicely! : )

plus, it's always better to get the "fucking" part earlier! (i guess that could read multiple ways. but it my world, it unfortunately only refers to cursing).

speaking of cursing, it's still so weird to hear "cussing" in the South. i never heard that growing up. Up North, we curse!!!

139 monkeypants   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:06 pm

[134] Curse and cuss are the same word, actually. Just different pronunciation that developed over time. Like ass and arse.

144 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:11 pm

[139] whadda you know about linguistics?! ; )

the british babe i dated, would say: "i can't be arsed". meaning, "i can't be bothered." i always thought that was weird. she had a great, um...arse! ; )

24 homers for #24. 199 hits.

[143] do you "fix" things? like dinner and leaving the house? that always makes me cringe: "i'm fixin' to leave the house". why, what broke?! ; )

do you "cut" things on/off, like lights?! add that to the list.

stay away from the Captain's wrist, you cocksucker!!!

147 thelarmis   ~  Sep 26, 2009 6:16 pm

[257] Ha! Close: Jesus H. Christ!

Yeah, that and Law & Order knockoffs....

Speaking of which, this for Serious Consideration: I was up this morning and flipped on the telly; Law and Order on TNT for some strange reason. The next episode at the top of the hour was about a arts patron who was murdered for funding the display of a controversial painting. When I saw the painting, I instantly recognized the episode and watched intently. Sure enough when they arrived to the Supreme Court trial scene, there I was in the gallery, sitting in the front row.

I was an extra on Law & Order in 2000, among a few other shows. This was the very first time I'd seen anything I was actually in. The episode, ironically enough, was called "Untitled" >;)

261 Chyll Will   ~  Sep 26, 2009 8:04 pm

Lifetime has it all: Telltale bad acting, scripts so formulaic you can recite the dialogue as though you were watching The Rocky Horror Picture Show, over-the-top promos. And all without a bit of irony (unlike Bravo, Spike or G4 which at least makes it somewhat fun...)

262 Mr. OK Jazz TOKYO   ~  Sep 26, 2009 8:05 pm

[260] Wow! That's super cool..is it fun to be an extra, or just a lot of standing around?
Law&Order franchise..I reckon it's more valuable than many MLB franchises at this point..

CC looking awesome so far! I love how FOX keeps showing Varitek in the dugout, looking "leadership-y"..too funny.

Uh-oh, Jeter just hit by Dice-K...

263 Chyll Will   ~  Sep 26, 2009 8:16 pm

[262] It is a LOT of standing around. The key maxim in the entertainment field is "Hurry Up And Wait". It's a little more fun if you're with friends and you're making a lot of money, which you likely are if you're in SAG. If you're not, then it's not fun.

Jeter = 20 homers (doubt he'll hit 3 in 7 games)

Tex = 40 homers

272 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Sep 26, 2009 9:38 pm

It was a great win. Couple things, though.

1. When Alex came up with the bases juiced I felt that Boston had us right where they wanted us. I didn't feel confident. So he taps the first pitch two feet. He's not even in a slump. He's been banging the ball all around the yard, but when the heat's on, look what happens? It's really frustrating.

2. Robinson Cano is a god. Did you see that home run? I nearly melted away and swooned off my bar stool.

3. Damon came up huge there, nice, quick little swing.

4. Phil Hughes is a stud.

5. Mariano Rivera, ladies and gentlemen.

well, i watched a little bit of the Penn State game. we're up 10-5 at half. in the few minutes i watched, i saw a bunch of horseshit calls and 1 instant replay that did not overrule the call on the field, which replays showed was clearly incorrect.

[272] i felt very confident. i thought we were gonna blow it open. i think our guys were licking their chops and got overly aggressive, is all...

1. Matsui was just as bad right after A-Rod.

2. it barely made it over and needed the help of the wall. still, he's great, it was oppo field and his swing is delicious.

3. yes, big hit. but not some kind of beautiful swing, or anything.

4. damn straight.

5. eternal praise!

Hey everyone -- I'm on the road and just caught up. (I caught about 100 seconds of the game, what seem to have been the absolute worst 100 seconds, beginning when we had the bases loaded with nobody out and ending... yuch. But now I've watched some highlights and it's all good. Dominant CC. And, thanks be to Mo.

[264] Sorry I took so long. Yeah, the unions for each tech crew are slightly different, though I do believe some fall under the same umbrella. in fact, the only two groups that aren'tunion on a big film are PAs and additional background players. And I can tell you from experience, being either one on a big film is like being a pariah in a church.

I suspect it's not so hard to get into the tech crews in other places, but far often than not it's a matter of who you know than what you know in NYC. Same with getting into SAG; it's not at all easy. You have to have more luck than anything else, and even then you need to pay a now-exorbitant fee to join within a certain amount of time or you lose eligibility to join. There are other ways to get into SAG that people often do; joining AFTRA (American Federation of Television & Radio Actors) or AEA (Actors Equity Association) which are broadcast (TV & Radio) and theatre actor unions respectively, they are much cheaper and easier to join, and you are SAG-eligible as a result. But in any case, everything has to be together; the money and the opportunity. I never had either at the same time, so I try to create them for myself.

And I will say this: the only reasons I want to join a tech crew is to become more familiar with the equipment in the process of making a film (Hi, I'm Chyll Will and these is my guns, the HVX-200 and the Red), and to make good money so I can produce my own and other peoples' films. You just can't make it outside of the unions unless you have a continuous stream of work, and in any case why would you do that with all the experience you can get from that? But yeah, it's tough to get into any of them unless you know people. It stinks, but so does everything else around here and you have to keep putting in the work until it happens.

[275] Oh, Damon's swing looked fabulous to me. He could so easily have gotten beat in that spot, right under the hands, but he just flicked the ball away. I thought it was a very nice piece of hitting.

IF my boy boBBy (abreu, obviously) plays three more years (at least), and stays healthy and as productive as he's been, he's going to approach the following career (round) numbers:

1,500 runs
1,500 RBI
1,500 walks
2,500 hits
300 homeruns
400 stolen bases
500 doubles
.300/.400/.500 career slash stats

most likely he'll reach some of those. of course, for me, i'm most hopeful for the 300 homers, 'coz then he'll be in my favorite 300-300 club! : )

Power & Speed

we have a 10th member of the 20-20 club this season. last season there were 9. last season, we had two 30-30 guys; this year, one. J-Up is the latest member.

Ian Kinsler (30-30)
Mark Reynolds
Curtis Granderson
Matt Kemp
Hanley Ramirez
Brandon Phillips
Chase Utley
Nelson Cruz
Jimmy Rollins
Justin Upton

there are still 6 players within 3 stolen bases or 3 homers. maybe 2 more make it in, 3 at most. here are the 6 who are close, closing in on the last week of the regular season.

Derek Jeter (3 HR's - never hoid of him!)
Nate McLouth (2 away in both categories, but Braves are hot)
Troy Tulowitzki (2 SB's)
Torii Hunter (3 SB's)
Shin-Soo Choo (2 HR's)
Alex Rios (3 HR's)
