The Games

So? Are you watching any of this?

The Mrs. is at the edge of her seat. She loves the winter olympics. Me? I’m amused that she’s so worked up.

Totally watching now (just got home from a college basketball game). The short track speed skating is fantastic, and the luge is just sick.

I'm all over it. Why not? Thanks to Youtube I learned tonight that John Williams wrote the Olympic anthem AND Darth Vader's Imperial March theme.

Dude I went to school with got into Luge cause his folks had a summer house near Lake Placid. He went on to win a medal--Silver, I believe--in the -02 games for the doubles in Luge.

Crazy about that accident last night.

The short track stuff is exciting.

I don't really get into the Olympic games, especially the winter games, but hell, it's sport--so I'm watching.

I've always been a Winter Olympics fan. I figure it all stems from the 1980 Lake Placid games. I was too young to pay attention the '76 games, so the '80 Winter games were my first real taste of the Olympics and I got the US Hockey Team and Eric Heiden. I was hooked. Then in '84 - Bill Johnson.
Love 'em.

[11] I was 5 in 1980 but man do I wish I was at that US-Russia game. Awesome. I've always loved the cold and snow so I love the winter olympics. Curling kills me. Seriousy. :) Most folks love stupid lawn games at summer bbq's. Curling's the same damn thing except it's cold.

I just cannot get into the sports where you need judges to assign you a score. But I watched Ohno and international competition is the only time when hockey is exciting to me. It must be tough for the Canucks to watch a league where Tampon Bay has a franchise but many of the traditional Canadian bastions do not. Still looking forward to beating them at their national game.

Gotta love that short track speed skating. Those guys are leaning so far over it's insane.

Check out how Ohno won the silver medal in 2002 Salt Lake City: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEJAZHsEkb4 -- insane. I like watching the luge and skiiers, too. Mainly cause they have balls for doing that.

Mostly, though, I just can't wait for baseball season. c'mon Yanks!

I enjoy the Olympics, both summer & winter, but I don't like the judging competitions. I like objective winning & losing -- by a score or a time.

[7] Why do I feel the sudden urge to give her a dollar.
