as a hot dog eating NYer who lived in L.A. for 6 years I say with great confidence: Pink's is superior to NY street dogs. Flavor wise it's not even close, and they don't stay with you as long afterwards.
On the other hand, I don't think I ever had Pink's when I was sober... so I could be competely wrong.
I went to a lot of Dodger games (50-60?) when I lived out there. The last 3 years I was in L.A. I lived in Silver Lake and could see the lights of Dodger Stadium just over the hill from my driveway. The fireworks launched from down in Chavez Ravine would explode at eye level outside my house.
Anyway, I ate countless Dodger Dogs and I wanted to think they were something really special, because everybody raved about 'em -- but I didn't think they were much better than a standard issue stadium dog. They're good, never made you sick, and the buns were always fresh, but they didn't knock my socks off.
Pink's was a notch above in my book - just a better quality frank, eh, frankly.
Man I love a good hot dog. Raw onions mustard and kraut for me, please.
I've never had Pink's nor a Dodger dog. 2 summers ago while on our annual baseball trip, we stopped at Superdawg in N Chicago -- that was pretty f'n good!
I have to agree with you cliff. I wouldn't touch a street dog with a ten foot pole. I've heard too many horror stories over the years. I'm sure most of them are fine... but still.....
I'll Take Grays Papaya against any though. Better than nathans imo.

But the real question is: Can Pink's hang with a Dodger Dog?

In the 50s ans 60s I still ate dogs. No more now that I am in my sixties. I'd rather revisit Scrapple.
wait why is my comment awaiting moderation?? links to hot dog foodie porn are verboten??

No mention of Gray's Papaya here? Seems like the better comp for Pink's.
