Play it Cool and Move Slow

Man, it’s a hot one out there. Damned Mets are hot, while the Yanks are decidedly not.

Still, the Bombers remain tied for first place with the Rays. The Can’t-You-Hear-Me-Knockin’ Sox are just a game back.

Hope everyone is staying cool.

Off to a pool party, so I'll miss the game. Not like I'll be missing a great Yankees offense though.

Tough loss for Javy last night.

Cliff Lee? The shit.

I'm at the game! First time in new Yankee stadium. The place is impressive. Pretty nice day in the shade. Go yanks!

8 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:09 pm

Lovely, just fucking lovely.

9 Jersey   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:11 pm

Of course, giving up a run in the first seemed to work for Javy last night.

10 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:13 pm

I HATE that pitch

11 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:13 pm

[10] The strikeout pitch?

12 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:17 pm

[11] The waste pitch three feet outside. Or over his head. He's not going to swing at it. No one ever swings at it. No one is supposed to swing at it. Its a completely pointless pitch, that in the age of pitch counts, really adds up when you throw dozens of them a game.

13 Eirias   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:19 pm

[4] After last night's six hit CG shutout, his ERA is 2.55 and his K:BB is 67:4. Probably wouldn't be a bad potential pickup this offseason.

14 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:21 pm

Run.

15 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:23 pm

See?

16 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:23 pm

[13] Ah. Ya think?

=)

17 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:23 pm

Can't believe Gardy couldn't score. Oh, that's it, he had to hold up.

18 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:24 pm

He's killing us.

Fucking just killing us.

19 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:24 pm

GODDAMMIT TEIX.

SLASHER!

22 Mattpat11   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:43 pm

Well, that was a productive inning.

23 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:44 pm

Having Pena and Russo in the same lineup is pathetic. The Yankees lack of depth is disgraceful.

24 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:49 pm

Ah, brilliant Hughes, walk the sluggardly Blanco to minimize the potential of Reyes' speed!

25 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:50 pm

Fuck.

That's not good.

Fucking fuck.

26 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:51 pm

[24] Like THAT ... did you see how long it took Reyes to get around the bases?

27 williamnyy23   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:53 pm

What an embarrassment.

28 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:54 pm

Why does Wright waggle his tongue in that unseemly way like a dog or Jason Giambi?

29 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 1:58 pm

GRITNER!

30 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:00 pm

Well, at least that means Teix can't GiDP ...

31 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:02 pm

Thank you, Teix!

THANK you!

35 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:05 pm

I didn't think it was going out off the bat.

37 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:09 pm

[35] It wasn't exactly a great swing, he was out front and over his forward leg on it ...

38 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:10 pm

[36] Yawn.

39 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:18 pm

DISGRACEFUL!!!

42 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:24 pm

Gardy just puts together such good ab.

43 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:24 pm

Imagine if we had some mad scientist hybrid at the top of the lineup ... Derett Jetner?

50 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:51 pm

Beautifully turned, boys!

51 Just Fair   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:51 pm

Quiet round here. Just flipped on the CWS on espn. The TCU pitcher is sporting his hat cocked completely off center. It's halfway between backwards and frontwards. I hope this is not the latest trend. Yikes.

52 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:55 pm

Nice Robbie, nice! If they're not going to throw you something good, take the walk!

53 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 2:58 pm

this guys not throwing a lot of strikes eh

54 Just Fair   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:00 pm

C'mon Russo. One time.

55 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:01 pm

damn

56 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:02 pm

Well, sure seems like a decent BUIF and some Relief help is what Cashman's going to be shopping for this trading season ...

57 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:14 pm

Phil should start the 8th, Mo should back him up.

58 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:14 pm

FUCK roles.

59 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:17 pm

Yay! Coffee Joe twitches again!

60 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:17 pm

Ummm...is this a good idea?

61 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:18 pm

well, it's not a terrible call though I would have started the inning with Phil.

62 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:19 pm

Oooh, 96.

63 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:19 pm

Uh, Paul ... Joba RARELY throws a curveball.

Slider, son, slider.

64 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:19 pm

[62] Exactly ... who cares.

65 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:20 pm

[62] well, isn't that good? Sometimes I thought Joba's speed was down.

66 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:21 pm

Mariano Rivera, please.

67 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:21 pm

68 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:23 pm

Come on, Joba!!

69 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:23 pm

Very nice, Joba.

Very nice.

71 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:24 pm

Phew.

Alright, let's finish them off here!

72 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:29 pm

Damn, that thing just jumped off Robbie's bat.

73 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:29 pm

Wow. Don't see THAT very often!

74 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:34 pm

[73] what happened there? i was in the other room

75 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:37 pm

oh man that hurts. 2nd and 3rd no out and no we may not score at all

76 cult of basebaal   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:39 pm

[74] Cano hit a deep fly ball to CF ... Pagan looked like he was tracking it, then he didn't, then he did, the he gave up and admitted he didn't and it landed 7-10 feet away from him for a double.

77 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:40 pm

[76] oh wow! Thanks for the info.

78 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:43 pm

93 from Mo!!

79 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:48 pm

Mariano Rivera, ladies and gentlemen.

Nice little win.

Very well done done, Phillip.

80 weeping for brunnhilde   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:51 pm

I love Granderson.

Such authentic charisma, warmth, intelligence.

Just seems such a delightful human being.

81 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:52 pm

nice Mo!

82 seamus   ~  Jun 19, 2010 3:52 pm

[80] yeah he's awesome.

83 RIYank   ~  Jun 19, 2010 4:16 pm

Hi all.
Just caught the very end of the game -- stranding Alex and Rob in the eighth, then Mo in the ninth.
I was out playing some baseball! Good day for it. Been a lonnnnng time. I can still hit, sort of (no power, but I could connect with pitches), to my surprise.

Excellent comments today, with cult in particularly fine form.
