It’s still warm n muggy in New York but thunderstorms are supposed to cool us off today. Yanks don’t play until late tonight but there are other games on this afternoon, a World Cup match, you know, things.
Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

5-all in the 5th now.
[2] i watched disc 1 last night. it was awesome! most likely gonna watch disc 2 tonight! i still have 1 disc from snakes/arrows dvd to watch. i'd like to do that this weekend, too. then i'll be all caught up! just gotta buy the new cd single soon...
yup, 5-5 and the jays have runners on 1st & 2nd, no one out...

[4] holy cool! i didn't know about that tribute. as i watched folks on the dvd talk about the band last night, i thought about rush tribute records. i got the first one that came out back in 96. working men, on the magna carta label, featuring lotsa big prog rock/metal guys. rush weren't happy about, saying the band wasn't "dead" and there shouldn't be a tribute album. tribs were getting popular though. i think the band has eased their stance on that now...
i also have a god awful death metal trib to them. it was only a dollar. but really not worth it. the string quartet could be cool. i wonder if apocolyptica has covered any rush tunes. i imagine they have... cello rules!
[5]
Yes ... cello rules!
great photo, mr.b.
[5, 6] hey, I'm cello's big cousin!
I love Rush. All my life. 2112. Signals. Moving Pictures. goddamn... what an awesome band. I used to shut the lights in my room and lay on my back in the middle of the floor and listen to Witch Hunt. That was some scary shite. And The Necromancer. I've never watched any of the DVDs, though.
oh yeah.. I concur with [7] about [0]. Excellent shot.
Taking the family to the Staten Island Yankees game tonight. Hopefully the storms hold out. meh. we can use a cooling off, though, for sure.
[8] necromancer!!! didacts and narpets! bastille day is sooo cool. i think i'm going bald (god forbid!) is pretty silly, but other than that, caress is a great fucking record and i hate that it gets the shaft. i totally obsessed over 2112. what musician kid didn't?! g/p was great. presto, is all kindsa awesome. of course, farewell/hemispheres. they just...rule.
CELLO!!! my favorite non-percussion instrument. i was an "honorary" cellist at penn state. i played quite a lot of cello music on marimba and accompanied cellists, etc. cello & marimba are rather similar, range & tone wise. reminds me of "water" and other beautiful things.
i recorded 3 Bach cello suite preludes on 4-mallet marimba for my upcoming cd.
damn. i meant p/g. grace under pressure...
Could I suggest that the writers who so entertained us with their breathless reporting yesterday take the plunge?

[14] haha.. cute kid. he needs to choke up on those sticks a lil.
[14] WOW!!! that is just *amazing*. sooo cool. highly impressive. excellent memory retention. he thinks, feels and hears phrasing very naturally & musically. once he gets his stickings together, lookout! he's an unreal talent. can't believe how hard he hits for 5 years old!
[15] i hate to even mention it - 'coz he's 5! - but, it's true...he does need to choke up on the stix. just a bit though, for the "balance point". i bring it up, 'coz normally, kids that age grip the stick almost in the middle, chocking up like crazy. 'coz they're hard to wield. i've had plenty of students where i have to draw a line on their stix in marker, to let them know not to grip above it. this kids' power is off the charts!
