Hey, totally off topic, but before this day ends I want to give you guys a link:

I've always loved that song (and posted a link to Sam Cooke's original this morning), but this version along with the soulful video is making my eyes very watery.
speaking of music and off-topic...
Jimmy Carl Black - old-school drummer for Frank Zappa, passed away. he's been sick for awhile. i love that guy! "hi boys and girls, i'm jimmy carl black and i'm the Indian of the group!" "the jimmy carl black philosophy lesson". he was 70, cool as hell, will be missed and never forgotten. RIP, Jimmy.

[2] Yeah man, I was gonna let you know about that, but I figured you'd find it before I got back. Too bad...
Nice, Alex. Whiting really nails it in the article. It is TOTALLY absurd how much the Japanese media and public revere Nagashima Shigeo while over-looking Oh-san. Nagashima, while a great player and icon, was not half the player Oh was...more proof that racism exists everywhere, unfortunately.
a word about Nomura Katsuya, great former catcher who hit 657 home runs and still manages today..(very grumpily, known for calling todays generation of players "fags"...)
"I get women on tv with the help of Chuck Woolery"...hysterical. and love that guitar lick from the Commodores "Machine Gun" that they used!
[1] Sam Cooke was divine...wow, can better days really be ahead??
..meanwhile, on our 7th Prime Minister in 10 years here...ho-hum...
1) this video (beasties) and the album that spawned it (paul's boutique) is one of my favourite instances of an artist "sticking it to The Man" (in this case, their record company).
2) jimmy carl black, r.i.p. indeed.
