Sure, the Knicks kicked another one away tonight in Boston but at least we’ve got the Yankees who took at 5-3 lead into the ninth inning. Enter Sandman…
Mariano allows a lead off double.
No sweat.
A slide into first isn’t enough to erase a soft ground ball…one out, runner to third.
One out, for the dangerous Jose Bautista. Mo pitches around him but one gets away…
and in comes a run. 5-4.
Bautista walks and Mo gets ahead of Adam Lind…
then leaves a cutter on the fat part of the plate and Lind singles, Bautista takes third.
And then…a safety squeeze…Ha!
The game, tied; save, blown.
A double play gets Mo out of the inning but the damage is done. Yanks leave two men on in the 10th and Ivan Nova gives up the game winner with two out in the bottom of the inning. First runs all year against Mo, first blown save. Tough night all around.
Final Score: Jays 6, Yanks 5.
Alright. Just win tomorrow.
Oh no..just back online and was thinking "Kind Of Blue" would be a Miles post..
Well, even the gods have to rest on occasion. I will never get angry at Mariano.
Girardi though...sigh...
Can't really think of anything Joe did wrong.
Nova??? Dude's a starter. There were plenty of live arms in the BP who are not in a rotation. Puzzling to say the least.
See, this is why Mo is so great. He doesn't want us mortals to feel bad when we screw up that he occasionally screws up too. Just to let us know that we aren't going to be perfect.
Right?
Painful. Eerie photos. Not sure of the right to use them.
I just want to say re: the Knicks - yes they were in a position to win but they had no right to be given who was on the floor. Even the announcers were calling it "miraculous" that they were int he game late.
As for Mo, it's weird and hopefully just a blip.
The Celts are going to get their asses handed to them by a legit team.
[6] I love the shots, but I was just wondering that, for real. Isn't there something about not using portions of the broadcast without express written consent or something after every game. Might want to look into that AB.
Yup, on the case...
We go through this every year without fail - Mo blows a few saves early in the year, there's an explosion of "is he finally done?" stories, and then he's fine. Generally, he has a few bad games at the end of April, and then another few bad games in August or September and the rest of the year he's untouchable. I see no reason to believe this is anything more than his regularly scheduled off week.
9) SNY lawyers say it's okay for the blog...
"Any transmission or rebroadcast of the pictures, descriptions, and accounts of this game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball is strictly prohibited."
I've always wondered if the MLB disclaimer had any "teeth". Wouldn't the "accounts" of the game that most bloggers provide in their recaps violate this rule? Good to hear that the SNY lawyers are on the case and that we can continue to enjoy Alex's pictures.
[13] Heck, it's broad enough for sportscasters, newspapers or even watercooler talk. But there is always a fair use exemption.
Speaking of getting "expressed written consent"
check this out. ;-)
I LOVE MO' RIVERA! PERIOD. Even when he has an occasional bad day at the office. Don't we all have one of those every once in awhile? (some more than others)
