Bob Dylan 70. Our American treasures i.e. Dylan, Aretha, Neil Young (I know Canadian, but really), Chuck Berry, etc. are in their golden years. Who will replace them?
[1] No one replaces them, per se, but someone else will come along. It's just never apparent until it's happening. It may be in a totally new medium.
Dylan has had and continues to have a profound impact on me and how I see the world. Thanks, Bob.
[2] outstanding choices on the Bob tunes. Visions of Johanna might be my favorite of his, but you know, it's nearly impossible to say.
Thanks indeed, Bob.
Here's my favorite cover of a Dylan tune.
Bryan Ferry "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall"

that footage that "Shelter from the Storm" is from has an amazing version of "Idiot Wind" also
i wouldn't play music if it weren't for Bob Dylan. major major major impact on my life.
Dylan RULES!!!
i'm just remembering...i opened up for merl saunders a coupla times at a place in salt lake city. it started with a zed. "zephyr's", iirc.
i always wanted to somehow get the gig w/ dylan, but i've heard some crazy stories about that. one of his drummers even wrote a book about the adventures!
Dylan is one of the greatest, and most important musicians in American history. Like they said about Orson Welles when he died, "Everyone will always owe him everything."
One of my fave Dylan tracks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP70p8Ttvg4
Unfortunately "Isis" seems to not be on You Tube, only cover versions..
[7] It's still shocking to hear him sing those lines about writing Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands for Sara. He'd never been that naked before. Desire is a great, great album.
