"A New York Treasure" --Village Voice

Million Dollar Movie

Today through Friday, “The Lady Eve” will be shown at the Museum of Modern Art at 1:30 p.m.

Man, how I wish I could play hooky and catch it on the big screen. It features one of the classic seduction scenes of all time.

That scene is one of the most erotic in all of cinema.

Infinitely more so than stupid fucking what's her name, Sharon Stone, spreading her legs.

Barbara's my girl.

She's the best and she's a local girl!

Henry Fonda's no slouch, himself.

Simply an awesome film (though, like many such Hollywood classics, it drags a bit towards the end but still, at its best, it's scintillating).

[2] The scene when she checks out all the babes trying to pick him up in the beginning is magical.

God, I love Barbara.

3) Yeah, that's Sturges at his best. One thing that's always been disappointing about him as a director, though, is how poorly he staged physical comedy, pratfalls and the like. Although the seduction scene is staged wonderfully.
