2) DIdn't like them as Jaspers but they aren't bad. The wife likes them better n Sal's who are decent but not great. So we've been going there lately. Little salty but I don't mind that.
really? I always thought of Sal's as the best in the neighborhood. I never understood why people would go to Goodfella's when they could just walk the extra block and get Sal's.
Ordinarily I wouldn't try to break up pizza talk with baseball talk, but Joe Pos wrote exactly what I've been thinking (except more eloquent, of course) about this MVP stuff, you know, the "Valuable" part:
"Baseball is won by a collection of players The MVP is an individual award. It's easy to confuse those -- easy and tempting -- but I think it's largely unfair. Seems to me that if a college golfer shoots the lowest score, he's the most valuable player of the tournament even if his team finished 26th. Seems to me that if an individual wins the 100-meter, 200-meter and long jump, she's the most valuable track athlete even if her team is no factor in the overall standings. Or, in another track scenario, the fastest runner in the 4x100 relay is the most valuable runner in the race, even if his teammates run like Molinas and the relay team finishes last. Seems to me that if person on a quiz team answers the most questions, she is the most valuable player even if the rest of her team happens to be filled with dunces and the other team happens to win."
[13] I'd cut off his head. Granted it's worth ten cents, but I don't want him pitching for the Yankees with either arm. I would gladly trade a hurricane for a NY pizza. Hope ya'll are safe. Just think, this will flush out & clean the subway.
how's the weather? could you play baseball in it?....haha.
number two:
"I definitely learn from that, pay attention to that, and use it. And use it as a weapon.” this was AJ after last night. the man is trying. he's trying hard and i can't fault him for that, i love him for that even (on the polar opposite, i hate rafael soriano for how he carries himself.) AJ, he can't throw the curve for strikes ever, so he can't be effective. he can only locate the fastball...right down the middle. his career is in trouble, big trouble. if he could just provide 5 innings of four run ball through the regular season we'd be okay, maybe win half those games.......good grief, this guy is struggling though....a derek jeter-esque deterioration....let's hope he can find it, if just temporarily, like jeter. GOD HELP AJ! i'm praying for him...hahahaha. (i'm not a praying man).
here's to everyone back east! family, friends, et. al.
even if it is overblown, better safe than sorry.
ALEX STRAIGHT UP LIVING IT! damn. that fucking pizza........
Hey all....
I'm in southern NH, and the rains have just started and should peak, with high winds, starting after dinner. I'm assuming NY has seen the worst of it?
What happened?
Any flooding?
Do people have electric power?
Have there been many heartships?
Are Subway cars floating down 5th Aveune???
This was supposed to be 'The Big One', and the News of the previous days sounded pretty scary for NY and LI.
Can someone update me?
I think the storm 'softened' some from the early projections and wasn't as bad as expected?
[22] i'm in northern manhattan. all i have seen is lots of rain and occasional strong winds.
sounds like the low-lying areas got some decent flooding. they are trying to get through high tide now. it doesn't sound too, too bad, but i'm sure if you live in those areas you are being impacted.
also sounds like there has been power loss, especially in queens - i think over 200k people in queens have lost power.
everything is shut down though so it is really quite and a bit serene.
i ate a pizza in poland on it once with ketchup and mayonnaise. true story. i didn't really eat it i guess, in all fairness, i stared at it as it sat in front of me.....
I loved Jasper's when they were up the street (in the hole in the wall where the Greek place is now), but the quality nosedived when they moved. I prefer Sal's, generally, but will give Generico's a try one of these days.....
Is that from Salvatore's? Goodfellas? Generico's?
Generico's
How's their stuff? I haven't tried it since they reopened......
Nice pie!
[3] Oh, you know, pretty generic.
(Thelarmis, rim shot, please!)

Is Generico's the old Jasper's?
also key in this weather: River Deli subs
Sal's is good just not great. Yeah, Goodfellas is weak.

Man, I'd cut off AJ's arm for a quality NY style pie right about now.
[5] you get a rim shot AND a choked cymbal for that!
well, it's too late now, but i'll prolly have to go grab a coupla slices for dinner tomorrow...
of course, the shit sox are about to sweep their doubleheader vs. the lowly a's. : /

[17] They'd love that on the Cooking Channel; it's like Food Network's version of the Playboy Channel.
NOT fair posting that picture..dying for a proper slice here!
[20] No doubt.
If this was Japan, all those white spots in the photo would likely be from mayonnaise, right?
