Before I walk into an elevator I look up at the mirror. Force of habit from when I was a kid. Maybe “Dressed to Kill” got into my head. More likely, it’s a reflex I developed growing up in New York during a time when you expected to get mugged at any moment. I know it might be extreme now, but the mirror is there for a reason. When the elevator doors open I brace myself and look up at the mirror. Just in case.
That photo really evokes Dressed to Kill, man! I have the same flashes when I see a similar elevator. [SPOILER ALERT - ha!] Although, I'd be pretty psyched to find Michael Caine in an elevator, even in drag. I'd just hope he wouldn't be feeling all homicidal and razor-y.
Yeah, that's my building. But if I remember correctly, the Michael Caine mirror was on the other side of the elevator. Dag, that was a scary movie, right?
Oh yeah, that movie is great fun, stylish and scary and a little goofy too. One of DePalma's best.
Bro, I looked in that mirror every time too. And always looked both ways when getting out - always gotta watch your back.
