Never mind the fretting: Let’s Go Yank-ees!

I suppose it's way too early to fret about stuff like this. A couple more turns through the rotation and we'll see where we are. Like Hank said, this has happened before and things turned out alright then (1998).
That said, please don't let the games get uglier than they've already been. Please. It's almost like if you need coffee in the morning to get going and the only coffee in the vicinity is just bad (from what I've witnessed)...
That's a great analogy. Watching those last two games was like drinking shitty, weak-ass diner coffee. I'm mainlining the good stuff right now (Stumptown). Probably will have me yelling at the TV later....
Damn, Will, you've gotten downright philosophical in your old age.
[2] Isn't it like 4AM? You got up at 4AM to watch the Yankees? Or you stayed up?
Just poking my head in the door to ask one of my regular questions: what is Eduardo Nuñez good at?
5) The young man swings hard.
Dear Phil.
Please get through the first 2 innings under 60 pitches and no runs. That is all.
-me
Oh, man.
Laptop not off to a great start.
Peralta just hit an 0-2 pitch to deep center with the bases loaded and Ellsbury had it in his glove... nope. Double. 4-0 Tiggers.
Cano's really taking ever first pitch fastball he sees.
What does this portend?
every
Portend?
I think it means he's decided to be patient.
[5] He's got good batspeed.
[11] It sure looks that way. I wonder if it'll work...
Red Sox rallying.
This shift is something so far.
Went to the Mud Hens - Indy game last night. Ugh. Brutal. The first two innings produced a grand total of 4 runs, and took an hour to play. Watching paint dry was more fun. Game was three minutes shy of 4 hours. Even the Hens radio guys thought they were seeing a Yankees - Red Sox game. Final score was 8-7 Indy. But in the mid-innings Phil Nevin (Hens manager) pulled a Girardi. 2 out double, so the next guy (who was 0-season, granted only second game) was intentionally walked, despite the Hens being down 7-3. Of course the next guy, who was 1-7 on the year, hit a one run double. Which was the margin between extra innings and a loss.
Two games this year that I've seen, two IBBs, both of which have bitten the teams in the ass. Not that I'm still fuming about issuing an IBB in the first inning of the first game, with your ace on the mound. No, not still bitter about that at all.
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuughes.
Caballito strikes out with the sacks juiced and the Boston rally ends. 4-2 Tiggers going to the bottom of the second.
Oh, ffs.
Oy.
Oy, figured it was going to be a hit anyway.
Who could have predicted?
Swish would catch that, right?
Is that the same Ibañez whom the Yankees signed because he could "play a little outfield"?
[24] Yeah, that's the one. Unfortunately this is a big outfield.
And somehow Sir Phil is still using a million pitches to get through the first inning.
Kay: "So Girardi is doing the right thing by resting people but two days in a row it's sort of backfired on him..."
It's the third fucking game of the season and we are already in resting mode?!?
Nice hit, Swish.
Bang. Nice drive.
swish!
Ibanez reminds me of John Olerud.
[27] Hey, this is the guy who issues intentional walks in the first inning of the first game.
Productive out.
Huuuuuuuughes.
No, you can't strike out Sean Rodriguez, it's early in the game, you're supposed to intentionally walk him.
Gosh, I loved him as a player, enjoyed him as a manager but goddamn Sweet Lou is a horrid announcer. Never mind that his voice isn't compelling, all he does is spew cliche after cliche. Enough already.
yeah, i agree. i didn't like hearing pinella during the spring though i was excited about him being there. backfire.
how did he test?....who hired him?..how do these guys get jobs doing this. they should give the barber a job. a barber would be a good guy to hear talk baseball.
these are solely the opinions of a barber.
p.s.
when is texeira gonna hit something hard?...ever again?
BoSox tie the game on a weakish throw by A-Jax to home (shallow Punto fly with one out).
[36] Yes.
Seems like every hard hit ball is right at the motherfuckers.
How come the Rays are allowed to use 12 infielders? Another ball on the button for an out. Shite!
Damn, they're clocking the ball but no results.
41) That's going to change, luck wise. Good thing is they are at least hitting the ball well.
Ouch, two more for the Red Sox. They lead 7-5.
i'm watching the rays feed though. these guys are way more tolerable to me than michael kay and his sensationalist bull shit. i hate him. love everyone else....kay actually is becoming unlistenable for me....
"Did you believe in the billy goat curse?"
I'm watching TBS.
Freaking Carlos Peña.
2 more runs for the Rays and the good guys can start scoring. sigh....
if montero or cervelli fuck that up like that people get on their case hard.....this guys is the defensive whiz i thought!.....i want cervelli....he earned it!
Shift that.
Good work, Teix.
Shoot. I called "home run" right before the pitch, thought I had the power there for a sec.
thank you jesus.
booooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
This is maddening.
Borderline my ass, Coney. That's a strike all day.
Tigers rallying.
Jesus.
2nd and 3rd. 1 out. No runs. Baseball's back, baby!
[58] Happy Easter.
A toweling off injury?
[60] :) Happy Easter.
Huuuuuuuuuughes.
No-no through six for the Orioles vs. the Twins.
[64] must help not to play a community college team.
he can put that fastball anywhere he wants....
just trying to help keep his pitch count down...
i hate stewart.
Hughes is doing all right for himself.
Hughes and Stewart. A Supreme battery.
Definitely reached over.
Kay, you may not be certain but *we* sure are.
off the wall. a double. i see it clearly !!!!!!
"Yeah, hi, didja see that? I think I just cost our team a run! And now watch me get ejected from the Trop!"
[69] He has GOT to learn how to get through starts averaging less than 20 pitches per inning.
A-Gon gives his team a 9-7 lead.
85 mph fastball. hughes is back!
this is probably his last inning.
Intentional walk! So there's a force at any bag!
Potter out to have a word with Charles Evans.
looked like the same Hughes to me. he's gotta right the ship or he'll be bullpen bound when andy/pineda come back.
Lead off double for Minnesota ends the no hitter bid.
Booooooone.
Boooooone!
[84] You needed one more 'o'.
Out in front and trying to pull.
Cy Hellickson. Too damn good.
I can't take this.
[85] Heh. I blame the economy.
Nice to see Alex hitting the baseball.
I really wish Teix would stop conceding the outside corner.
sigh
This is agonizing.
Sigh. Two more left on base.
Swish thinks it's the playoffs.
Frustrating.
jeff keppinger? really?!
What the fuckin fuck. Girardi has a fucking head injury.
i really like logan. he's been useful for the yanks now for a year and half.....he's one of the better relievers they've had lately.
[4] Got up super-early for this nonsense!
close game dudes! it's gonna get good. they're putting pressure on hellickson now. trust me.
Why? Why is Logan pitching to a righty?
Meanwhile Melo is making the Garden rock.
HIt 'em where they ain't. Didn't anyone get that friggin' message!
Knicks win in OT at the Garden.
Not that it matters, but PH for Stewart there was basically asinine. OK, this game is stupid...I'm outa here.
tex kicks ass in the field.
um...what the fuck was that???
weird.
phelps debut after an ibb.
0-2 count...
squeezed. shoulda been a k...
there's the k. nice breaking pitch!
kid did good. got out of it.
last licks for the yanks...
Atta boy!
HELLickson out to finish. wish it was krazy kyle (injured)...
[112] hey, what's with the interruption?! ; )
Just another loud out.
[114]] Misery loves company. Fuck this game. 0 - 3. Sub-optimal.
hey - good news: shit sox got into the double digits. 3-run lead, bottom of the 9th. ace comes in for the save. cabrera: 3-run game tying homer! still no outs...
Hellickson came back in for the ninth? Good grief. He's at 118 pitches.
Too bad Hughes may not bring a shutout into the 9th all season. Unless he's allowed to throw 180 pitches. Modamn Hellickson does it in his first start.
[118] yeah. maddon just pulled him after the swisher walk. i think it's the kids birthday today. same w/ santana on the tribe, who hit 2 homers.
i'm hoping prince hits a game winner here...
yeah, that hat thing is ridiculous. highly annoying. looks terrible and simply can't be comfortable...
what are you looking at raul? same place as the last one. jeesh...
Good job, boys.
Nice start to the season.
Sigh. Just tip your cap to Hellickson.
game over. swept : (
now, all of a sudden, tigers have 2 outs. tie game, avila up...
free baseball in the motor city.
I know it is early, but wth! Not a good way to start the season.
Tiggers' game goes to eleven.
fuckin' nick punto puts the shit sox up in the 11th...
a dozen runs for the shit sox...
Baker's dozen for the Tiggers!
omg, that RULES!!!
tigers scored 3 more in the bottom half and win 13-12. dancin' melancon gave it up.
wow : o
