I went to the Statue of Liberty once when I was a kid. Was it with school or did my mom take us? Dag, I don’t remember which is reason enough to go again.
i've had a lifelong love affair with Lady Liberty. amazingly, i had never gone there growing up.
i went for the first time, about 6 weeks ago with my girl. the night before we saw CC pitch a complete game at The Stadium.
they're renovating the inside of the statue, so you can't go in this year. that's fine, as it takes a whole day to take everything else in (and maybe hit Ellis Island, as well.)
also, provides a great reason to go back to Liberty Island once the renovations are through! : )
i've got Lady Liberty art all over my home and studio. She's the best. Yankee Rose!!!
[2] there were some cool things there. we were sooo tired after a long day at Liberty Island, that we were over it. i would say it's much more essential to go to Lady Liberty, but that's me.
when i eventually go back to see the inside of the Statue, it won't be a priority for me to explore Ellis Island further...
[2][3] Ellis Island is essential, one of the best spots in New York and a key part of American history. Alex, you will be riveted for hours there, trust me. Statue is nice from far away, not really great to visit IMHO.

I am not proud to admit that I've never been to Ellis Island. Must go.
