Sad, we have to endure TBS for another series. Is Alan Trammel going to the booth to replace Cal to stay in form?
I hope the plan is to play Alex. I don't think that it makes much sense sitting him again unless the Yankees eventually plan to eat most of his salary and trade him.
Eppley added, Nunez dropped.
Does that make any sense at all?
Heppy katness over, time to sweat another series.
[2] The Yankees aren't 'dropping' ARod. But in a short series where he is slumping, and replacement bats that had similar of better numbers, it was time to sit him in that crucial game.
Also, we don't know how much his time on the DL screwed up his timing, or if his hand is hampering his swing.
Knowing ARod, he will work like a maniac in the offseason to show us he is not done yet.
Eppley has really good splits vs. RH (Cabrera, A-Jack, D. Young). Nunez really only hits vs. LH and Detroit has 4 RH starter and strongly righthanded bullpen. That's probably the thinking.
[6] OK, but why not swap Eppley in for a pitcher. The Yankees are now playing with RH 3B who was benched last series, a RH SS who is playing with a bruised foot, and BUOF who is apparently not allowed to bat. And a BUC. If they're going to drop Nunez, why not bring a potential bat to replace him?
Sometimes I think the Yankees coaching and front office simply become confused, and, under the pressure to do something, simply opt to add another reliever.
Player A (against RHP): .298, .365, .543, .908 - 1 HR/15.3 AB
Player B (against RHP): .256, .326, .391, .717 - 1 HR/35.6 AB
Similar defense, but Player A is better.
Doesn't seem like that hard a decision, does it?
Just saw on Twitter that Kuroda is the Game 2 starter...
According to LoHud, it looks like the decision is in ... Kuroda for Game 2.
[9] Damn you!
=)
[1] :)
And Hughes for Game 3, CC Game Four.
[13] I think Tigers have Verlander for game 3. I'm chalking that up as an L for us. We need vintage Andy tonight.
I say let Phil pitch against Verlander, have CC pitch Game #4 on full rest, and #7 on short rest if necessary.
