The Yanks are going to be horrible this season, haven’t you heard? Over at Hardball Talk, Craig Calcaterra’s got a new series for the decline of the Yanks: Doom Watch. Just in time as we wait for pitchers and catchers to report.
No one can predict the future, right! And the team will be different, for sure. Just give me a hint about how they will produce runs for the first half of the year, and later, taking into account that A-Rod may or may not return. I got it: the other teams won't score. Other than Cano, who isn't on the decline, injury prone or coming off an injury. If there is one, Granderson for example, he strikes out and doesn't run anymore.
I am firmly of the opinion that if Groundhog Day wants any claim to the start of spring then it should be required to coincide with Pitchers & Catchers. The audacity of those Pennsylvanians is simply astonishing...
[3] He's certainly sitting on the fence and trying to appease both sides of the issue. Not bold, but practical. Madden and others have had axes to grind for years now and it seems the more the Yanks win despite their "deficiencies", the more edgier the attacks get. I'm definitely not ignoring the issues they have going into spring training (never mind the season), but history is on the Yanks' side. {sarcasm} If only Cash's plan to dominate the rest of the league with fresh young arms from the farm was easily applicable, what with the farm system helping them develop major injuries and such... {/sarcasm}

They'll produce runs pretty much the same way they did last year, but minus Swisher and plus Gardner.
I really like Calcaterra's take. I agree with everything he says there.
