Reunited (And it Feels So Good)

Yanks and Sox for the first time this year. Three games in Boston and then they don’t see each other again until the second week of June in the Bronx (and they don’t play again after that until July 14th).

Should be fun.

Never mind the All-Stars:

Mmm, Mmm, Good

Friday night wasn’t so hot—but that’s okay, everyone is due to take one on the chin sometime—but yesterday was mo better. A come-from-behind win. Judge Dread went deep again, and yeah, it was another real blast—11-5 was the final.

This afternoon gives the series finale.

C.C. and The Battling Bombers

Yeah, my bad on not recapping two nights ago, which featured an absolute bomb—his first true blast—by Aaron Judge. Even more encouraging was the 1-2 breaking ball he lined into right field.

Anyhow, it was more good things as the Yanks beat the White Sox, 9-1.

After a day off they are in Pittsburgh for the weekend. Old friends—Cervelli, Nova—await.

C.C. goes tonight.

It’s a Soup-Is-Good-Food Kind of Night

Kudos, props, and all that good stuff goes out to anybody at the Stadium tonight. It is a raw, spring night. Cold and a little wet. Courage, that’s what it takes, fortitude, to sitting in the stands tonight. Something I lack. But I’ll be watching the Yanks and White Sox back from the comforts of my living room.

Never mind catching cold:

Big Fun in the Boogie Down

Yanks host the White Sox after sweeping the Cards.

Moment of the game last night came early when a well-intentioned putz interfered with a ball in play, effectively taking a home run away from Aaron Judge. Greg Bird, our slumping hero, got the guy off the hook when he launched the first pitch he saw deep into the stands for a two-run homer. All’s well.

Never mind getting a swell head:

Go figure, the Yanks host the Cards for the weekend.

Well, Okay, then.

Everybody Loves the Sunshine

Well, goodness that’s the Big Mike Pineda we always hope to see. Yesterday, he was in full control, his best self. David Cone mentioned on the broadcast how much a catcher collaborates with a pitcher and then said that Austin Romine was guiding Big Mike with a deft touch.

Good start, Yanks scored a bunch of runs late, a hell of an Opening Day. Final score: Yanks 8, Rays 1.

Yanks have the night off and it is even warmer and more lovely in New York today than it was yesterday.

Never mind spring fever:

Walk Tall

The Yanks gave the O’s a taste of their own comeback medicine yesterday thanks to some lousy pitching from the home team—Yanks 7, O’s 3.

Hey, that Aaron Judge had a nice day, though. Absolutely ripped a single off the left field wall that brought back memories of Gary Sheffield’s merciless line drives. Judge also hit a home run on a ball he didn’t really square up. The man is strong.

Today gives the home opener and it is a gorgeous day in the Bronx.

Dayenu, y’all.

Aie, Aie

And just like that Gary Sanchez, the Yankees’ young star catcher, heads to the DL after straining his bicep on a swing. And he ain’t the only one hurtin’ either.

Oh, and the Yanks blew another lead and lost again. Et tu, Mr. Betances? Masahiro Tanaka looked much better than on Opening Day. He was tough even when he got into a pickle. But that’s the way things go sometimes. O’s 5, Yanks 4.

C.C. on the bump this afternoon as the Bombers look to avoid getting swept.

Okay, so the first game was a dud. Good news, we got 161 more!

Never mind the New York drizzle—they’re playin’ in Tampa. It’s our old pal C.C. on the hill. That’s good enough for me.

You guys thawed?

No matter, we have got a baseball season to mind.

Yanks kick off the 2017 season against the Rays down in Tampa—Masahiro vs. Chris Archer. Mike Axisa has the skinny over at River Ave. Blues.

Let’s Go Base-ball!

Let’s Go Mets

Yeah, I said it. For one, I’ve liked rooting for this Mets team. Two, I am sick and tired of the Giants. Fug ‘em.

So there it is. A rare occasion around these parts, when I’d really like to see Los Mets win.

Next Up

Yeah, so our boys don’t have a role in the postseason production but that’s not gonna keep us from watching.

I prefer the O’s to the Jays. Then again, a Toronto—Texas rematch does sound tasty.
